Summary/Abstract: This paper highlights the importance played by humour in the literature of accommodation, that type of literature describing in the first person narrative the experience of settling down in a foreign environment in search of a quality life style. The translation of the account of the cultural encounter will therefore have to pay particular attention to rendering the humour the literary discourse is pervaded by as it becomes a way to overcome the cultural gap while getting acquainted with a new outlook on already-experienced life aspects.
