Summary/Abstract: With their content and visual solutions, the textbooks for class teaching follow the goals and tasks of teaching language and literature, having always in mind the students' receptive possibilities. They contain literary texts which are selected according to aesthetic, national, acquisition, and pedagogical-psychological criteria. In teaching practice, non-literary texts are intended to inform and to overwhelm the contents of all school subjects and to clarify, explain and summarize professional and scientific contents. This research investigates the representation of non-literary texts in the textbooks for the third, fourth and fifth grade of primary school. Reading and understanding non-literary tests in the lower grades of primary school are an integral part of success for the further education and entire life.
