Summary/Abstract: This paper seeks to assess local government activities relating to local entrepreneurship development among tourism entities. Local governments possess many tools that can contribute to the development of entrepreneurship, while tourism is one of the sectors of the economy which relies heavily on local capacities. The authors of this paper wondered how the recipients of local government activities, namely local entrepreneurs, perceive these activities, whether such activities meet their expectations and what these expectations are. In 2015, a diagnostic survey was carried out using questionnaires. One hundred and twenty-one tourism entities which operate in rural communes, in the Pomeranian voivodeship, were surveyed. The results show that local authorities are perceived quite positively in the surveyed group. The surveyed entities are highly aware of the capacities of local authorities; they also cooperate widely with local government and show a strong commitment. Based on the results, a conclusion can be drawn that local governments fulfil their function and fit well into the principal ideas of self-governance, including support for local businesses.
