Summary/Abstract: The generation of organic and non-organic waste increases considerably dueto such factors as: population growth, increased consumption, lack of environmentalpractices aimed at the use of waste, the impotence of a government policy aimed at theeffectiveness of environmental management, and the prevalence of particular interestsover common goods. This is evident in the amount of tons of waste deposited in thefi nal disposal sites, whose decomposition ends up generating greenhouse gases, suchas: methane, nitrous oxide and carbon dioxide, pollute the air, soil, and, of course, thehydric resource, infl uencing climate change. The present article aims to perform a comprehensive review of the impact of wastemanagement on climate change and show some environmental practices or methodologiesused to counteract environmental pollution, including the analysis of the life cyclewith the purpose of obtaining a better use of waste.
