Summary/Abstract: The biological and physicochemical alternatives allow the leachate to be treatedto produce alternative energy through biogas and help mitigate the nvironmentalimpact generated by solid waste deposited in landfi lls. According to the above, the presentreview article inquires about the biological and physicochemical contribution thatis had on the handling of leachates and the production of biogas. In addition, the characteristicsand processes of leachate treatment as sustainable management technologiesare outlined in the article.
