Summary/Abstract: The main objective of this article is to describe the cultural identity of the Slovak nation reflected in its contemporary language policy. This term is strictly connected with the national and cultural identity; because language is one of the factors which determine and create a nation’s culture as well as its identity. The Slovak language policy indicates a number of legal implementations which are designed to protect the official language. Announcement of the Law of the State Language of the Slovak Republic reveals an unsatisfactory level of language communication and tries to find a proper solution to this problem.
