Summary/Abstract: This study has a double aim: a) a theoretical one – to establish the criteria according to which the author considers that a translation is a re-creation of an original text, in this case, of one of Brassens’ songs, and b) a practical one – to analyze the variant translated by Vulpescu, using Reiss’ reading grid for translation. The author considers Vulpescu’s translation to be a very successful one, owing to his own artistic skills and particular empathy with Brassens, as well as to his vast experience as a translator.
