Summary/Abstract: Bulgaria has been an EU member state for over 7 years by now. This is a long enough period to conduct comparatively objective assessments of what has been achieved so far and to offer recommendations on increasing the effectiveness of our participation in the integration community. Undoubtedly in our case, being among the most economically backward countries in the Union, it is essential to draw such conclusions, especially in relation with our participation in EU’s Cohesion Policy. After all, the main objective of this policy is to decrease the level of disparities withing the EU on both national and regional levels.
