In 1918, at the end of World War I, many people were determined that such terrible slaughter and bloodshed should never happen again. An international association called the League of Nations was formed by the leading nation involved in the war. Peace and security are the most important aims of the United Nations, the successor of League of Nations. Since 1945, the UN has helped to negotiate peace deals and has provided peacekeeping forces. In addition to working for peace, the UN has many other branches, called agencies, which deal with worldwide problems. Some of these agencies provide aid for people in need, such as refugees. Others are concerned with health matters, living and working conditions, and human rights. All of these couldn’t be possible without the logistics support provided by agencies.

The expansion and diversification of threats to international stability and actions of the armed forces have undergone a profound process of transformation and adaptation to new realities. The process of identifying new military strategies often requires conceptual and structural changes of processes, namely logistics organizations intended to ensure the logistic support of current combat military structures. It is equally significant that this process of logistic analysis in multinational operations begins by analyzing different definitions of logistics and logistic support.

This paper presents the connection between logistics and the enterprise’s yield. Logistics is a set of activities developed before and during production process, including the physical distribution’s activities of the finished products towards the consumers. The marketing’s target is to serve the clients as well as or even better the competition does and, at the same time, get profit. The effective demand required by marketing is realized throughout logistics. The logistics system’s activities are costs generators and they are retrieved in the total cost of the finished product. Detecting the connections between the way of accomplishing a creative activity of value and the cost or the performance of another activity, logistics gives an influence to the enterprise’s yield. The work sheet analyses the factors by which logistics is acting on the enterprise’s yield: the logistics’ activities costs, the serving clients’ level, the logistics’ activities correlation inside and outside the enterprise.

The paper presents the role and the importance of logistics for products and services in order to obtain the competitive advantage. After a short presentation of logistics evolution, we move on to defining the logistics concept, respectively integrated logistics. The analysis of the logistics activities is based on the total cost concept and it has as apurpose the efficient and effective management of the physical flows ofraw materials, materials and finite products, and ofthe internaţional flows. The competitive advantage is ensured through the harmonization of the logistics function with the otherfunctions ofthe company and through the integration ofthe logistics chain ofall upstream and downstream organizations in order to ensure a high level of consumer service at economica! costs under the farm ofsupply chain management. In the end wepresent the main tendencies in the evolution of logistics in the Romanian firms under the cir-cumstances ofthe increase oftheir internaţional dimension.

Without transport and bases from which to operate and get support, the combat units have a low value in terms of force protection capability and that only if the fight comes to them and they fight on their own territory. Even in this situation the tactical mobility requires giving special attention logistic issues. Understanding logistics is crucial for the success of military operations. Unfortunately, it is often confused. The problem lies less in the conceptual complexity of the subject and more in the large quantity of technical details and the huge quantity of materials involved in the movement of large forces. Someone can get lost in the amount of data, unless he has some clear principles of organization, reference points, and basic rules that provide a broad perspective on the subject.

Mortuary services have a significant impact on soldiers’ morale during multinational operations. The national legislation refers very briefly to these services and does not provide a realistic picture of what mortuary services actually represent. The article presents organizational aspects regarding funeral services in multinational operations from the US military perspective, because we believe that US military legislation addresses the issue in a coherent and detailed manner.

Since ancient times logistics has had a fundamental role în the global development. Starting with building the pyramids in Ancient Egypt, Logistics has made remarkable progress. Countless times, brilliant logistic solutions formed the basis for the transition from one historical period to another. For the military, Logistics is a relatively new concept, used to describe a very old practice: supply, circulation and maintenance of the armed forces, both în peacetime and especially în conditions of war.Due to the overwhelming role of Logistics, military planners, the commanders take into account the impact of Logistics în operational training.Logistical considerations are one of the fundamental factors taken into account for the battle plans from the early stages of warfare; without it the combat forces may be only symbols and numbers on a map. This article is intended as part of an ongoing series of three articles on the important stages of historical development of logistics: Antiquity, the Middle Ages and the Modern Period. We considered the starting point, the foundation for the development of Logistics to be the evolution of metric systems. Egyptian civilizations development, Persian, Greek or Roman would not have been possible without advanced Logistics for that period.

This study is a continuation of the article entitled ?A brief retrospective of the historical landmarks on logistics in antiquity”, published in the Bulletin of the National Defense University ?Carol I”, Vol. 3, Nr. 4 (2016). Although a victory depends on both the good training of the troops, their morale and the commanders' strategy, a long campaign achieves its goals and is successful only due to its logistical capabilities. In the medieval period of logistics (developed, perfected and ruled by the Roman Empire), because of the migratory peoples it was a lost art and an inaccurate science. The small number of inhabitants of the newly formed states of the Middle Ages and their inability to control and organize large armies also presented a logistical problem due to the number of support troops needed to organize a large military operation (the transport of materials was carried out by carts pulled by horses or oxen). The reality of the medieval war was that very few leaders were dealing with logistical issues and, indeed, they were more an exception than a rule. The logistics of the troops were generally based on robbery. This is, of course, a reason why medieval war was so difficult for both troops and the population.

Globalization was and still is, at the same time, a process and a state of fact. It was and still is a process because it presents quantitative and qualitative transformations, and it was and still is a state of fact because it allowed and allows comparisons between its constitutive elements on different moments inits life cycle. Beyond its political reasons, globalization could be justified by two major evolutionary components: technology and exchange markets. Hence, it is understandable why globalization did and does not produce the same levels of satisfaction, as neither the scientific and technical knowledge is uniform.
