U ovom tekstu instrumental zamjenice 'sebe' (atta, sansk. atma) prevodim 'po sebi', smatrajući filosofski 'smisao tog izraza analognim Kantovu 'an sich'.

The key topic of this text is the re-vernacularisation of post-Croato-Serbian standard languages in the service of the state and the nation. The author’s starting point for the elaboration of this topic are four books criticising the subordination of language to nationalist ideas of the state and of the nation: Škiljan’s Speech of the Nation: Language, Nation, Croats (2002); Kordić’s Language and Nationalism (2010); Bugarski’s Do You Speak Polycentric (2018); and Glušica’s The Montenegrin Language and Nationalism (2020). Well-sourced and analytical, Glušica’s book provided the most material for a critique of the practice of re-vernacularisation. The author believes that the practice alienates metalinguisticity from its linguistic community, turning language into state vernacular and discourse of nation, engendering a schism, a diglossia within the Montenegrin linguistic community. The author also believes that such practice is anachronistic and un-emancipatory. What is more, it is entirely contrary to the contemporary processes of vernacularisation that have developed under the influence of communication technologies and computer-mediated communication. The latter represent a challenge to the current practices of standardisation, as, in place of the monologuist, monoglottal and mono-semiotic institution of standard language, they are establishing the foundations for a dialogic, polyglottic and poly-semiotic institution of public language.

The article provides information about Latif Karić (1905-1991) from the village of Vranovići near Gračanica, a widely known gusle player (guslar), but also one of the most respected locals, a man with a very interesting biography. He was born and grew up in an impoverished rural environment, in a village without an elementary school, but nevertheless he became literate and made considerable efforts in self-education. From an early age, he showed a gift for music and song, learning to play the saz, shargia, and then the gusle. As a guslar, he mainly performed old heroic epic songs. He performed at celebrations, parties, and social events in the wider surroundings of Gračanica, Srebrenik and Lukavac. Before the Second World War he also performed at night gatherings during Ramadan in a coffee house (kafana or kahva) in Gračanica. Besides being a guslar, he also was a reputed blacksmith, and a famous folk dentist. He was also considered a man of progressive views, an advocate of public enlightenment and education. He was one of the leaders of the campaign to build a school in the village in 1939 and 1940, which unfortunately did not succeed then, due to the resistance of other villagers. During the Second World War, he was among the respectable people from the wider area who strongly condemned robbery and looting, especially against the inhabitants of the neighboring Serbian Orthodox village of Gornja Lohinja, whose adult male inhabitants were arrested by the Ustashe and deported to concentration camps. From his youth until the end of his life, he faithfully maintained the tradition of gusle songs and Bosniak folk epics, as one of the last gusle players in North-Eastern Bosnia.

The contribution of the Indian medical heritage to early Islamic medicine has come through at least four channels: translation, citation, direct medicine / medical service, and commercial. A large number of texts belonging to Indian medicine have been transferred to Arabic directly or indirectly and in the form of works or passages, especially since the early Abbasid period, as a result of the increasing interaction between Indian and Islamic civilizations. It is understood that in this period, when the efforts to bring Indian medical experience and knowledge to Arabic increased, many Indian physicians, pharmacists and attars came to Baghdad and some of them were invited to the Abbasid palaces. As a result, many works / texts from medicine, toxicology, veterinary medicine and other disciplines were translated into Arabic and Indian medical knowledge was better known. Apart from Ātreya-Punarvasu (Atra), whose history is controversial, at the head of the authors whose texts, whole or part of medical corpus are translated or quoted into Arabic, are physicians such as Suśruta (Susrud), Caraka (Sarak al-Hindi), Vāgbhata, Nāgārjuna, Ravigupta and Mādhava. Many authors who benefited from their works or texts, directly or by interpreting them, brought them to the Islamic medical literature. In addition, many terms of Indian flora and fauna have entered the Islamic medical literature through quotations.

At the very beginning of the 17th century, a revolution began to take place in the Church, especially in the fundamental principles of female monasticism, which St. Vinko Paulski takes out of the cloister to the streets and thus goes out to meet the needs of the times. Although he dared to become a priest for the wrong reasons, he still lived it for the right reasons, and without that "impertinence" of his, the Church would be at a loss today. From Paris through Zams in Tyrol, Zagreb, Sarajevo and many other places in Bosnia to Mostar, Ljubuški, Županjec, Stolac, Kruševo... in Herzegovina, the network of his sisters of mercy successfully expanded and left a strong mark on education and culture in general. Without their cultural contribution, our Croatian people would certainly be groping in the darkness of ignorance and lack of enlightenment for a long time.
