The expansion of the basic dialogic unit, i.e. the arrangement/chaining of adjacency pairs with a similar first turn (in this case a directive speech act) in a larger discourse fragment constitutes an interesting phenomenon in the light of conversation sequencing. The attention is drawn to the second-pair part, in particular to the type of verbal reaction to the cue act in each segment. Тhe variation of the addressee’s approach outlines the essential, significant steps in a particular disposition/arrangement contouring his manifold communicative attitude in two main perspectives: sustaining or modulating the initial choice. The article traces and systematizes some general considerations of the complex interactive composition under the said conditions and suggests some indicative parameters for their interpretation.

In a previous publication we discussed the basic concepts and principles of suggestopedia from the point of view of a holistic approach to personality and the process of foreign language teaching and learning. The present article enriches the theoretical review by adding the three fundamental pillars formulated by Lozanov, namely love, freedom and prestige, and by interpreting them in a linguistic-pedagogical context. It also introduces the three groups of methods used in suggestopedia and the way they are closely related to the main principles. The interrelation of methods and principles results in the accelerated development of communicatively oriented language knowledge and skills which are manifested in the “suggestopedic reserve complex”. Finally, the article discusses how the specific communicative and linguistic reserves in suggestopedia are complemented by the revealed psychological, psychological-physiological and social potential of learners which guarantees the unity of learning and personality development.

La narrativa cartográfica de Antonio Muñoz Molina en los Misterios de Madrid y la Noche de los tiempos

Starting from the epistemological framework of literary cartography, throughout this article we will dwell on the concept of map as a literary spatial structure. First, we will outline the panorama in which the map has become a recurrent tool in cultural industries, as is observed not only at an editorial level, but also in the development of literary tourism. In parallel, within the contemporary novel, the map is also present as a spatial tissue underlying the novelistic structure. This will be our main object of study. In this regard, we will discern the characteristics of this spatial narrative design and its hermeneutical implications, and then develop this cartographic perspective in two novels by the Spanish writer Antonio Muñoz Molina: The Mysteries of Madrid and The Night of Time.

The reconstruction of the foreign language teacher’s image as a social type fits into pedagogical Imagology and is an important element of linguistic archaeology. The lecture presents the French-language lecturer from the Bulgarian National Revival, who is not only a literacy teacher and a traditional spiritual mentor, but also a polyglot, encyclopaedist and enlightener. He spreads modernity through strenuous teaching, through translation, journalistic and literary activity, through brilliant public appearances and a new model of social behaviour, and above all through sacrifice in the name of its ideals.

In the 1970s, novelist and literary theory scholar Hans Robert Jauss developed the modern concept of the “aesthetics of reception” or “reception‐aesthetics” (German Rezeptionsästhetik) of a literary work. This notion can be applied to a translation process that aims at finding the strategies for an optimal aesthetic reception. In this article I shall examine the translation strategies of Barbara Wanders de Vincenz who translated into French the ethnographical studies on the traditional Christmas celebrations in the Carpathians. They were written by her father, Stanisław Vincenz, a 20th century Polish writer, and were included in his masterpiece Na wysokiej Połoninie (On the High Uplands).

This article examines how women writers in the Balkans from the second half of the 20th century narrate war. The focus of the study is on the museum's classifying function to include narrative forms such as the album and the diary, in the genre of the novel. In order to narrate a major theme like the war, Dubravka Ugrešić (Croatia) and Blaga Dimitrova (Bulgaria) use these two forms, traditionally thought to be representative of the female voice. The study traces the literary and museum representations of the album and the diary in which memory plays the major role.

Szkoła trudnych uczuć. „Igrzyska Śmierci” Suzanne Collins na lekcji języka polskiego

In the article the author analyzes and interprets fragments of the first two chapters of the novel The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins. She shows how to create the initial characterization of the book’s heroine, Katniss Everdeen, basing on selected fragments. In the following part of the article, the heroine’s feelings are analyzed, especially those she experienced during the harvest festivities, when she volunteered for the Hunger Games, thus replacing her younger sister. Careful reading of these fragments of the text makes it possible to name the emotions of the heroine and to have a closer look at how the description of internal experiences looks like. At the end, the author asks a few questions about both emotions and human morality. These questions may be put after reading the text at school, and may be discussed with students.

Kilka przepisów na szkołę, czyli o pojęciu „szkoła” w 1. rozdziale „Ustawy o systemie oświaty”

The article is aimed at exploring the meaning of the term “school” in selected regulations of educational law. It explains the specificity of legal texts and the rules governing the establishing of the principles of functioning in the public sphere in their content. Next, it presents the motives for the modification of commonly understood ideas in the text of the legal act. The described phenomenon has been illustrated with the school image reconstructed on the basis of the content of Chapter 1 of the „Act on the education system”. In the given passage, the ways of defining the term “school” and their relation to the tasks imposed on the school by the text of the Act have been analyzed. Thus the article reproduces the linguistic image of school, which lies at the basis of the established regulations and therefore should be taken into account when adopting the educational law.
