Образователни практики за повишаване на резултатността в обучението по български език

This study explicates the role of educational technology as a system of teaching and learning activities for educational interaction in Bulgarian language optimization and enhancing its effectiveness. Methodical relevance is showed for changes in school syllabus dealing with text cohesion, a model is presented to deal with terminological optimum on the subject. Educational practices under analysis are presented in order to study parts of speech as linking devices in the structure of the text: using algorithm for text analysis, entering pre communicative exercises for text analysis in synthetic exercises and lessons, variety of technological models of working with lesson’s plan for studying Bulgarian personal pronouns. Certain models are suggested for corresponding educational practices (invariant model of an algorithm, suggested exercises and lessons).

The paper proposes approaches for the application of electronic language resources and technologies in Bulgarian language teaching. The active integration of language technologies in the teaching process leads to an increased interest in the subject, the formation of skills for individual work, and the development of research skills. We present in more detail two language resources for Bulgarian: BulNet – a lexical semantic network for Bulgarian, and the Bulgarian National Corpus. The application of these resources in language teaching is demonstrated through several types of linguistic problems.

The paper presents two lexical resources developed in the Department for Bulgarian lexicology and lexicography at the Institute for Bulgarian language – online version of many-volumed academic Dictionary of Bulgarian language and the resource Infolex. The possibilities for their application in the Bulgarian language education are discussed.

Qualitative Evaluation for the Reasons of Foreign Language Learning

The process of learning a foreign language is considered in the scope of lifelong learning. The motivation of learning a foreign language is one of the factors affecting this process. Before learning a foreign language, determining the justifications of learning this language is considered as important within the context of “autonomous learning” via metadiscourse. The needs analysis is a contemporary approach at the stage of foreign language learning. The aim of this study is to find out the needs of the people who learn foreign language. Seeking answer for the meaning of what the motivation of foreign language learning, the types of motivation, the causes of motivation. The sample group (n=51) of the study consist of the students in state high schools who learned German as a second foreign language after learning English, private high school students and freshman students registered in the department of German language teaching (2016-2017). Data are obtained via a standardized scale consisting of 6 open-ended questions and 1 Y/N question created by the researcher herself. Obtained data are interpreted by a descriptive analysis which is one of the qualitative research methods. The main emphasis was on the frequency in content analysis and analyzed data. It is found that the factors affecting to motivate learning German are; lecturer/teacher, economic reasons, travelling, necessity and culture. Through this process, the data were analyzed in accordance with the autonomous learning approach in foreign language learning.

The article presents and analyzes the Italian old printed books as a main element in the development of the collection of Italian rarites in the University Library “St. Kliment Ohridski”. The Italian printed books (1501 – 1830) are the fundamental and the most valuable part of the Italian literary monuments in the library. The books are acquired by the University Library in the period of the fundamental development of library collections 1888 – 1903. The Italian old printed books are acquired in the library not as rarites, but as main editions necessary both for research and education. The University Library owns 81 Italian old printed books in 189 volumes. Subjects of the old printed editions are varied. Mainly historical works; literary works; theological and philosophical-political treatises, as well as a limited range of titles in the fields of law, art and architecture, linguistics and pedagogy. It must be especially mentioned the presence of the Italian classical authors – Dante Alighieri, Francesco Petrarca, Giovanni Boccaccio, Panfilo di Renaldini, Ludovico Ariosto et al. Special attention must be paid to the old printed books, which contain information for Bulgaria and Bulgarians.

The article is devoted to analyse and deconstruction new-fashioned ecolinguistics as an independent scientific discipline. Giving a brief historical excursus this discipline and not denying the relevance of the ecology of language, the conservation of minority languages, the study of linguistic interactions, the author questions the need to allocate ecolinguistics as a holistic science in the absence of the original objects, goals, methods, and material for analysis. Moreover, ecolinguistics problems can be solved within the framework of the already existing sciences, such as sociolinguistics, communication theory of speech, theory of speech standards.

The article is devoted to researching different problems of contemporary academic neography (neological lexicography) and possible ways of their solving. The aim of the article is the description of the state of academic and semi-academic lexicography from the point of view of сontemporary linguistics. The special attention is paid to the initial problems of the Russian neology, the possible ways of their overcoming, and the “risk areas” of the present neography. Positive and negative trends of contemporary academic lexicography are opened up mostly on the material of the last and the most authoritative neological dictionary: New words and meanings. Dictionary based on materials of press and literature of 90s / Ed. by E. A. Levashov: 2 vol. Vol. 1. Saint-Petersburg: D. Bulanin’s Publishing House, 2009. The article concludes about the main problems of the development of Russian neological lexicography and their suggested solutions (above all, the using of electronic and online databases, the development of a new concept neological dictionaries and the creation a complete electronic neological database).

Войникът в средновековната и съвременната българска картина на света

The article is dedicated on the concept soldier. The topic shall be ana¬lyzed according to the main ethnolinguistic principle, examining the word as a mental sign. The collected linguistic material is taken from the Dic¬tionary of the Old Bulgarian language (http://histdict.uni-sofia.bg/oldb-gdict/oldbg_search/) and Archive for Bulgarian Dialect Dictionary. The object is the words represented the concept soldier in the Old Bulgarian and Contemporary Bulgarian Language. The subject is the semantic and the lexicosemantic fields of the words represented the concept soldier. The article reveals the difference between two types of armed persons. The first one (войник) is obliged to serve into the army, the second one (войн) accepts the military duty as a destiny and way of life.

Изучение интерференции русского и латышского языков в свете методологии У. Вайнрайха

The author makes an attempt to generalize and systematize the phenomena of the Latvian-Russian and the Russian-Latvian phonetic interference on the basis of Weinreich’s methodology. The interference zones are also characterized. The typology includes four types of interference: insufficient differentiation of phonemes, superdifferentiation of phonemes, reinterpretation of distinctions, substitution of sounds. The given typology can be applied as an effective tool in linguistic resaerch of nterference of any two languages in contact.

BETWEEN MYTH AND STEREOTYPE: THE METHOD OF STUDYING THE IMAGES OF RUSSIA IN THE VISUAL MEDIA CULTURE OF JAPAN

The main sets of symbols of Russia in the visual media culture of Japan are formed in the XX century. This period was saturated with military conflicts and under the conditions of a bipolar political system; reactionary images with noticeable militaristic influence were formed. This study was performed on the materials of visual media culture in Japan, sources such as anime and manga were studied, in which a high concentration of Russian images is observed. During the study of these sources, a complex of several hundred visual and verbal images of Russia was identified, which seems to be a unique phenomenon. Since such an interest in the country-opponent in foreign policy issues is nowhere else observed. The purpose of this study is to identify markers that denote the space of Russian images in individual visual sources and determine their place in the media culture as a whole. Accordingly, the main objective of the study became the development of methods based on approaches of Digital Humanities and Visual Studies. This study allows us to determine the most economically viable images of Russia in the Japanese media industry and makes it possible to use the results of the research in Russia’s state image by stimulating Japan’s visual media culture sector for representation the most auspicious images.

DECISION MAKING IN SMART SUPPLY CHAINS: A CASE STUDY ON THE ENERGY INDUSTRY

The dynamic economic environment is driving the evolution of traditional supply chains toward a connected, smart, and highly efficient supply chain ecosystem. Algorithms become powerfull tools that enable machines to make autonomous decisions in the digitized supply chain of the future. The present paper proposes an decision making mechanism for smart supply chain management in the petroleum industry. This industry has a strategic position as it is the base for other essential activities of the economy of any country. The petroleum industry is faced with volatile feedstock costs, cyclical product prices and seasonal final products demand. The current paper considers the position of a refinery as it is at the middle of the integrated petroleum supply chain, between the upstream and downstream. It procures crude oil from upstream assessing the price, quality, timing, and distance to the refinery in order to decide the optimal acquisition. Additionally, the refiner has to carefully monitor the price risk and manage the inventory. The manufacturing activities of the refiner requires thoroughly planning and scheduling the production levels and supply chains for all the derivates and feedstocks for petrochemical industry using tools for decision making in order to estimate market opportunities and threats under volatile market conditions.In order to provide a reliable and practical decision making model, the current paper proposes a mechanism for decision support under uncertainty using maximum expected utility.

DIGITAL AND CODING LITERACY FOR SCHOOL STUDENTS

In the digitalization era, the notion of gamification appeared in every field of activity. Experimenting gamification of programming hours by practitioners and teachers in the 2017-2018 school year at the 5th grade is part of the research area related to identifying ways to improve student engagement and skills for lifelong learning.The article will present the outcome of this pilot experiment, which aims to track the evolution of pupils during the project, by analyzing and comparing the results from the initial evaluation with those from the final evaluation. The purpose of the article is, on one hand, to contribute to the literature with new results in the field of digitization of the teaching-learning activities through gamification, and, on the other hand, to present a new teaching instrument used to streamline the instructive-educational process at the fifth grade students, within the Computer Science, which is now a mandatory object. The experiment was conducted in accordance with the Creative Computing curriculum created by the ScratchEd team at the Harvard Graduate School of Education.

MEASURING PHYSICAL AND VIRTUAL PRESENCE IN THE DIGITAL ECONOMY ERA

In the present study, we analyze the students’ reaction to the introduction of Web 2.0 as teaching-learning environment in digital economic theory, in a society where the internet was introduced in 1990. The article is the result of a research extended over two years. The research focuses on the study of behavior observed to the students with computer usage knowledge in relation to the translation of their activities on Moodle platform. The students belong to a department of Economics Informatics of a Romanian University. Specifically, we sought if Moodle with its facilities to assist/guide the student in the learning process can increase the percentage of those who will assimilate knowledge of databases theory apply in economic fields, compared to traditional ways of teaching. The outcome of this study can be considered favourable on Moodle application.

METHODOLOGY FOR CREATING DATA VISUALIZATION. A CASE STUDY FOR INTERDISCIPLINARY TIMELINES BETWEEN 1750-1900

The present study was originally aimed at creating a helping tool for teaching and understanding art history through the use of visual schemes. Despite the fact that timelines are often present in both history and art history books their status is rather that of footnotes (Wolf, Gombrich 656-663, * * * 392-395) and a study for their methodology and usage was truly lacking. Considering the way in which simple data visualization can comprise vast amount of information and deliver it in an efficient manner, it makes it worthwhile to ensure its scientific quality and accuracy through proper methods, as well as to actually creating ones that are both simple and eye-catching. Thus this paper is a result of a personal interest in the development of such tools and the challenges encountered along the way. Offering valuable information in a short glimpse through simple graphics over the life and the artistic creation of various artists is only enhanced by the opportunities provided by digital tools and the virtual environment, so it is perhaps an auspicious time to start seriously considering this type of research.

Once the advances in technology evolved into being recorded, and awareness regarding globalization processes strengthened, it became facile to observe the rhythm and the series of changes produced in societies, political systems or economic and cultural life, as well as the transversal effects that resurface. And unequivocally these effects become implied in most areas of activity.
