The academic forum “Literature of the Recent Past (1944-1989)”, organized by the Faculty of Philology at the South West University, combined the efforts of literary theorists of several generations to reflect on that part of Bulgaria’s recent past which has already turned into history. However, this history has not been completed yet in a comprehensive and objective manner. The aim of the forum was to create the proper discourse in which the history of literary theory writing will be attributed a multifaceted pluralistic ring. The project was a part of the attempt to reveal the Bulgarian literary history not only from the point of view “the history of generals”, but from the perspective of cultural identity manifestations on a national scale.

The gardening in Hungary owes much to three Bulgarian settlements: Lyaskovets, Draganovo, Polikraishte. Two museums (in Budapest and Lyaskovets) testify to the importance of this link in Bulgarian-Hungarian relations. Draganovo is a village in Gorna Oryahovitsa Municipality, in Central Bulgaria. Draganovo is known in the area for its farms and vegetable gardens. Due to the fertile soil around the village, it is one of the main producers of cabbage and tomatoes in the central/northeastern regions of Bulgaria. After World War II gardeners from Draganovo has been dispatched to Hungary and other parts of Europe to help rebuild the land and make it fertile again. The river Yantra flows through the village. The river contributes for the village's fertile soils. In this book, you will find specific words, part of the dialect of speech from the village Draganovo, collected in a dictionary by Rumen Stoyanov.

In Pragmatics, censure is considered to be part of a triadic interaction, in which a third participant impedes or tries to impede communication between a sender and a receiver. In the case of self-censorship, one participant in the interaction, because of his understanding of mind theory, predicts what might constitute a threat to the ideology of the censor and try to avoid it. In such a situation, we can distinguish between the self-censorship of the sender of a message and that of the receiver. When the sender self-censures, as is most common, he or she may effect total censure – by avoiding, suppressing, or replacing the message – or may only effect partial censure, whereby he or she is limited to modifying the message to make sure the censor is not offended.

Integrating corpora with everyday language teaching

Despite the growing number of books on how to use corpora in language teaching, little has been written about integrating corpus-based activities with the reality of the classroom. Practising teachers usually have a syllabus to follow and a set course book they must use, and there is often little room to stray away from that. So even if teachers have heard about corpora in teacher training programmes or elsewhere, there is no guarantee that they will actually use them in their teaching. The present paper focuses on how the direct use of corpora is relevant to and can be integrated into everyday language teaching, with many advantages for both teachers and learners.

Temporal fluency variables in native and non-native English speech: Corpus findings and language-pedagogical implications

This paper summarizes some interim findings of a larger project on fluency and investigates some standard temporal fluency variables in learner language. The study compares data from the 86,000-word learner corpus LINDSEI-GE and the 118,000-word native speaker corpus LOCNEC with the aim of revealing those areas in which even advanced German learners of English deviate significantly from the native target norm, for example in significantly shorter mean lengths of runs. However, the results also indicate areas in which individual learners have already approximated to the target norm, for example in their use of filled pauses. The final part presents some language-pedagogical implications for improving learners’ temporal fluency that derive from these findings.

Chinese learners’ use of formulaic sequences in spoken interaction

As a basis for course and materials design for Chinese tertiary learners’ spoken English, it is necessary to describe these learners’ spoken discourse. This study analyzes the multiword units excessively used by Chinese learners in their spoken English. The College Learners’ Spoken English Corpus ( COLSEC) is analyzed and other first-language ( L1) corpora are used as reference corpora. The idiosyncratic uses of four formulaic sequences, namely in my opinion, as far as I am concerned, I should say, and as we all know, are discussed. Three causes of the learners’ idiosyncratic uses of the formulaic or quasi-formulaic sequences are identified: L1 transfer, communication strategies, and the decontextualized teaching and learning of formulaic sequences.

El leísmo aparente y verbos con alternancia en su régimen pronominal

This article analyzes different verb groups and constructions that show alternation in their pronominal system. Since the confusion about the use of clitic pronouns is not due to the loss of case distinction, we refer to this phenomenon as apparent leísmo. According to the prof. Fernández-Ordóñez’s division, we study, in a very detailed way, mental state verbs, persuade-type verbs, verbs of sensory perception, verbs that omit their direct object or whose valency has been reinterpreted, verbs with predicative complements and impersonal se followed by an unstressed pronoun. To finish off this article, we include an analysis of the verb animar, using the Corpus of the Royal Spanish Academy as the main tool.

Yalan Mazerete Yönelik Kazanç-Bedel Algısı: Namık Kemal Üniversitesi Örneği Üzerine

In our daily lives, we need to make an explanation in situations where we can experience infighting in human relations. Explanation described as all kinds of linguistic explanatory actions consists of four subcategories as denial, legitimacy, excuse and apology. But while we do the act of explanation, for example when we make an excuse, we may employ the act of lie. Although a person may employ the act of lie in order to make a gain such as “forgiveness, s/he must face a number of prices such as “anxiety”, “stress” and “physiological pressure”. The aim of this study is to problematize the perception of gain-price attributed by Turkish university students to false excuses, and by introducing the studies on the same subject in Japan, to reveal the perspectives of the students of the two countries. A questionnaire was conducted to 168 Turkish university students and Kikuchi et al. (2008) was utilized as a research pattern and analysis method. Participants were shown three different scenarios in which a person who was late for a job interview employed the two options of lies with “a low probability of occurrence (accident)”, and “a high probability of occurrence (traffic)”, and the reality (falling asleep). The participants were asked to answer questions regarding the perception of gain-price after each scenario. The data obtained were compared with Kikuchi et al. (2008). As a result, while the Turkish students consider the balance of gain-price in the selection of excuses, Japanese students attribute importance to the price to be paid. It is understood that while lying, Japanese students react more sensitively to emotions such as “excitement”, “anxiety” which may cause stress at a person than Turkish students.

HUMOUR IN THE CLASSROOM

This study attempts to explore the ways in which humour is used in the classroom. The underlying assumption is that humour relies on ambiguity, representing an intermediate space between different meanings. The paper starts with a theoretical presentation of several theories of humour, such as the incongruity theory, the hostility theory, and the release theory, and includes a review of different types of humour – irony, satire, or sarcasm. The practical part consists of data recorded in the classroom, which are identified as humorous. This part aims to classify the humorous instances. The conclusions are that humour occurring in the classroom is mostly innocent and inclusive; however, teachers may use humour in order to indirectly criticize students, and students may resort to humour as an attempt to challenge teachers’ authority.

Osobnost a text: Kvantitativní psycholingvistická analýza stylisticky diferencovaného českého textu

The paper deals with the possible application of quantitative psycholinguistic methods within the framework of psychological disciplines, psychodiagnostics in particular. It provides an introduction to the theoretical basis of the given approach, as well as an overview of both the research documentation and selected results of the current QPA-FPT 2015 research. The research focused on the identification of a writer’s personality features as manifested in different text types, which were subsequently analysed in terms of their formal (i.e. non-semantic) structure. The research sample consisted of 65 students of the Faculty of Education, University of South Bohemia (20 men, 45 women; ~ 21,5 years old). Following a specific writing task, the probands produced two text types – a formal text (a motivation letter) and an informal text (a letter from holiday). They also completed a number of diagnostic tests (STAI-X, KSAT, SSI and PSSI). Next, all the texts were analysed by the computer and tagged using 48 different linguistic features, especially morphological ones. The formal characterisation included both the expression of relative and absolute frequency of a given feature (e.g. first person) and a combination of such features (e.g. first person singular pronoun). The outcomes of the analysis were then compared with the tests results and correlations were identified. The research results include a number of key findings, pointing out to the influence of a given text type on its morphological structure, but also to the links between linguistic features and specific personality characteristics of the writer.

Yunus Emre Şiirlerinde Modern İnsan Olgusun Psikodilbilimsel Çözümlemesi

Dil, insanların toplumsal yaşamını sürdürebilmesi için duygu, düşünce ve isteklerini bir başkasına aktarmada başvurduğu işaretler dizgesidir. Bireyin toplumsal alanda varlığını sürdürebilmesi, en yakınından en uzak çevresine kadar varlığını hissettirebilmesi, düşünce ve isteklerini iletebilmesi dil ile mümkün olmaktadır (Bayazıt, 2019). Ayrıca milli kültür de yeni nesillere dil aracılığı ile öğretilmektedir. Nitekim Alperen (2001), dilin bu özelliğini “dil öğrenmek aslında sözcüklerin anlamını yansıttığı kültürü öğrenmektir” şeklinde ifade etmektedir. ПРЕЛИНГВИСТИЧКА ФАЗА РАЗВОЈА ГОВОРА

The dominant form of communication and understanding between people is achieved through speech. Speech development in children is a very complex process that can only be achieved in an environment where people communicate. While listening to the speech of adults, the child learns to speak, passing through different stages of speech development. The influence of biological and social factors is very important for the acquisition of speech. That is, the functioning and maturity of the areas responsible for speech development of the central nervous system, on the one hand, and social factors, on the other hand, the most important of which is the family, i.e. in the first place, the mother and the communication between mother and baby from the first day of life. Speech develops gradually from the earliest age. In this period, the movement of the speech organs matures, phonemic development, cognitive development, and maturation in the field of preverbal communication. The prelinguistic phase of speech development is a period of preparation for the development of speech in children and the acquisition of the language system of the mother tongue. The prelinguistic phase of development is divided into several subphases that all children with typical development go through. The aim of this paper is to present the pre-linguistic phase of children's speech development, and which factors are important during this transition of speech development.

Gedanklich zwischen ratio und intuitio – eine komponentenanalyse im psycholinguistischen feld

The current linguistic research focuses on the analysis of linguistic facts in support of the hypothesis that people tend to believe that they think rationally and make rational decisions, and this tendency has its linguistic expression in lexical linguistic objects that they use for communicative purposes. In order to place emphasis on the “rational” in their way of thinking when communicating with others, native speakers “rely” more on lexical units grouped in a lexico-semantic field expressing rationality rather than on lexical units combined in a lexico-semantic field expressing intuitiveness. The paper also presents a linguistic model called the Triangle of Thought, which presents the synonymous relationships between selected lexemes that express co-referentiality. The presented component analysis of semantic synonyms of the Gedanke lexeme in the German-speaking semantic space supports the assumption that the German language is dominated by lexemes whose semantic features form the profile of “rationality”, in comparison with fewer lexical units whose semantic features characterize “intuitiveness”.
