The Supplement to Textbooks of Current Croatian History is a handbook for history lectures, which was ordered by the Croatian Ministry of Science, Education, and Sports after the five-year moratorium on teaching current history in the Podunavlje region expired in the 2002/2003 school year. This easternmost region of Croatia remained under the control of local Serbs after the end of the 1991-1995 conflict, and was returned to Croatian sovereignty in 1998 after a transitory period under UN administration and the signing of an agreement between the Croatian government and the local Serb population. Part of the agreement included the decision that instruction in Podunavlje for Croat and Serb children would take place in separate classrooms, and that a five-year moratorium on teaching contemporary Croatian history in classes taught in the Serbian language would be imposed.

This article discusses the competitiveness beyond its economic nature, infl uenced by the concept of sustainable development, and expanded to the issues of environmental in the centre, it is a crucial objective for the economies, reinforced by the common European challenges and context of development. In this sense, the study‘s purpose is to analyse the development of Bulgaria through several key factors of infl uence in the three directions. Based on them, specifi c recommendations are proposed to achieve sustainable competitiveness primarily through the achievement of high added value by stimulating intellectual capacity and increasing management effi ciency. Further, it is open a discussion about a new stage in the development of the competitive race, marked by „shared“ (cooperative, solidarity) competitiveness.

The paper presents an assessment of the opportunities for the Bulgarian economy and the Bulgarian business to move towards sustainable development under the concept of corporate social responsibility. On the part of CSR supporters, the concept in question is not just a channel for a transition to sustainability; they identify it with sustainable development. This paper is not intended to deny the concept of CSR, but to specify the limitations to CSR on the road to sustainability, on the one hand, and the defi cits related to CSR adoption in business management practice in Bulgaria. Based on a theoretical analysis within the system approach, the relationship between the two is interpreted: the concept of CSR and the concept of sustainable development. The main challenges to the process of CSR transformation into a means of transition to sustainability have been identifi ed. Results from a representative empirical study by other authors on CSR issues are also commented on.

The rationale for investment and fi nancial decisions for business development in the real sector of the economy at risk is based on the development of their theoretical foundations. Particular attention is paid to the peculiarities of the business risk assessment in the real economy compared to the risk in the fi nancial sphere. To this end, we analyze the risk factors in different sectors of the economy that determine the opportunities for diversion of future business outcomes and also the specifi city of the main risk management methods. In this respect, key risk measures for the different activities and the theoretical criteria for assessing the risk decisions used in the decision-making process in the fi nancial markets take the cornerstone.

The report examines the peculiarities of the behavior of transnational corporations in the context of globalization and continual changes in international corporate relations. The differences between traditional and non-traditional projects, as well as changes in the types, forms, dynamics and structure of the corporate model are analyzed in detail. The focus is on the specifi cs of managing non-traditional corporate projects and anti-crisis management tools. The conclusion is that the most effective organizational form for fi nancing and managing anti-crisis projects is through the creation of an investment structure such as corporate deposit funds.

Most of empirical literature on participation in and choice of recycling at the household level has been focused on factors determining the direct cost for households engaging in recycling efforts (Czajkowski, Kądziela, & Hanley 2012; Huhtala, 2010, Jenkins, Martinez, Palmer, & Podolsky,2003). Researchers noticed mixed findings in the literature on the significance of waste collection fees for recycling efforts. There is also a question as whether household recycling efforts represent a social cost, which should be taken into account in cost-benefit analyses of alternative waste treatment systems. Some argue that it should not be calculated, since recycling efforts are, to a large extent, voluntary. But on the other hand, households devote time to segregation, which is, in fact, an alternative cost (Bruvoll & Nyborg, 2002). One of the barriers of effective segregation seems to be a low level of awareness on recycling and segregation issues among households. That was also noticed in research conducted by Omran, Mahmood, Abdul Aziz and Robinson (2009). The aim of this case study is to recognise why citizens’ knowledge on waste segregation rules is not sufficient enough. Despite research results confirming rather limited consumer skills related to the subject, efficient methods to make people increase their awareness of what correct selective waste collection is, seem to remain still undiscovered. The students’ task is both to identify why mistakes in waste segregation are made, as well as to propose ways of helping citizens avoid them.

Communication is a psychosocial interaction through which subjects transmit information and expect feedback, fulfill their goals, direct and control their own activity, that of a person or a group. To communicate effectively and expressively with oneself and others (Gh. Dumitriu 1998), means to convince, to be able to develop the thinking, affectivity and personality of others, to inform intelligibly and to understand correctly the meaning of the message, to notice and be aware of reactions, attitudes and behavioral changes in the receptors or audience. Communication, in general, and educational communication, in particular, are related to the phenomenon of social influence and persuasion. The teacher is the one who exerts influence through democratic behaviors that allow him to build a relationship based on mutual respect, self-disclosure and valorization, a context that facilitates the harmonious growth and development of the autonomous and creative personality. Among the sources of power that the teacher exercises in the educational context, we emphasize the importance of manifesting the power of reference that involves creating relationships based on affectivity and emotional support, the power of expertise based on shared competence of the teacher, legitimate power, specific to the teaching role, sources generating greater satisfaction than the one-way use of coercive power. The main component of education, communication, has always been an indispensable support for education. Motivation is one of the most important prerequisites for school learning. The channeling efforts towards the construction and endowment of a school, towards the training of teachers are in vain without a solid motivation for students' learning. Self-regulation of learning also includes that of motivation (self-motivation). This requires students to have motivational learning strategies and tools used to maintain or increase their motivation while completing a learning activity. Parents consider a child motivated when he wants to have good results at school, does not expect to be "pushed" from behind and is appreciated by teachers. Among the motivational strategies and tools used at home and at school, the following stand out: increase hope; communication; engaging the imagination; encouraging self-motivation and involving the child in decision making; cultivating effort. At school, the teacher's enthusiasm and motivation are directly restricted to the student's motivation. Cooperative learning implies the hypothesis, according to which, the way in which the activities are involved determines the quality of the interaction between the students, the results of the activities being consequences of the interaction between them. Thus, one of the main elements to be created in the classroom is positive interdependence or cooperation

Communication represents a process of interaction between people, groups, as a relation mediated through word, image, gesture, symbol or sign. Through it, individuals share their knowledge, experiences, interests, attitudes, feelings, opinions, ideas. Viewed as a process, communication consists in transmission and exchange of information (messages) between individuals. Communication means to tell those around you who you are, what you want, why you want a certain thing, and what are the means you will use to achieve your goals. Communication is defined as “a process through which a transmitter sends information to the receiver through a channel, in order to produce certain effects on the receiver.” In the present paper we analyze the most important types of communication: intrapersonal communication, interpersonal communication, small group communication, public communication / in organizations and mass communication. This paper reflects the theoretical and practical ideas following the role of the symbol in visual communication and comprehension the transmitted message. The aim is assimilation of essential knowledge needed in the process of visual communication of architecture students in higher education institutions. The paper provides a clearer picture regarding the perception of visual language, comparing the cultural universe of the sign. The semiotic system, the signs and symbols that are conveyed over time are thoroughly analyzed. Nicolae Istrate (1818-1861) was a nobleman politician, a man of culture wholeft great marks in the lives of the people of Rotopănești, Suceava, in the middle ofthe 19th century. Politically speaking, he was rarely understood by his contemporaries, because of his anti-unionist vision. Culturally speaking, he helped in thedevelopment of the peasants of Suceava, building schools for their children.He has full credit for creating the Music and Declamation Conservatory, thefirst institution of this kind in the United Principalities of Moldavia and Wallachia.Last but not least, Nicolae Istrate had a prodigious literary activity, as he wrote manymanuals, poems and historical plays. Ukraine is a multinational and multicultural country. Though Ukrainian scientists have studied the issue of multicultural education from different aspects, nevertheless, there is no special or ideal model of multicultural education. That is why we decided to monitor the students’ multicultural education state at secondary schools of Ukraine. In order to identify the state of multicultural education in Ukrainian schools we conducted an empirical study in schools of Cherkasy region among primary, secondary and senior level students. The main method was determined as questionnaire, which is provided for clarification of issues of national-patriotic and multicultural orientation. Accordingly, questionnaires that combined quantitative and qualitative data collection were offered to the 4th, 6th and 11th grade students in some schools in Uman and Uman district, covering 296 respondents. Thus, the monitoring of the state of multicultural education in Ukrainian school education has shown that the problem of multicultural upbringing of children and young people is addressed at the government level, relevant research is conducted, some aspects of multiculturalism are observed in educational programs of some subjects, but the level of multicultural education of students should be higher.
