A successful businessman during the so-called First Czechoslovak Republic, a member of the anti-Nazi resistance and post-war MP for the People’s (Christian) Party, Eduard Jan Fusek had to flee abroad in February 1948. He established himself in Washington, where he directed the work to complete the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception and was a pro-active participant in exile work.
