The lecture deals with the issues of metaphorical transfer. It defines translation as an interlanguage or, metaphorically speaking, as occupying the position of the demotic text on the Rosetta Stone. It proves with examples of metaphors’ translation into different languages that any denial, deviation or distortion of the metaphorical transfer is a symptom of the qualitative impoverishment of the target text in comparison to the source text.

A kilencedik szimpóziumra idén január 9. és 11. között került sor 15 ország egyiptológusainak részvételével, a KNH Centre for Biomedical Egyptology szervezésében a manchesteri egyetemen. 43 előadás hangzott el és 6 poszter is érkezett. Magyarországot a jelen cikk írója képviselte. A következőkben a hét szekció (Science 1: Methods and Analysis — History and Culture — Linguistics and Literature — Science 2: Mummy Studies — Art and Architecture — Early Egypt — Religion and the Gods) három, számomra legérdekesebb előadását foglalom össze röviden.

Visual aids are the basis of teaching. They have an active leadership in thinking and perception; they are included in the teacher‘s exposition and are often based on them; allow concordance of hearing and visual perception; allow the teacher to accomplish a variety of didactic goals and tasks; allows them to be applied in the process of self-employment. They can also be used in a complex way to place learning problems, to instruct the students before their practical work with naturally supervised means of activating the learning process. The various visual aids should be combined wisely to give pupils more specific and, in turn, versatile ideas about physics and physical phenomena studied.
