Dedicated to the 180th anniversary of the birth of Vassil Levski, this collection gathers in one place the research efforts of literary writers and historians. The aim is tracing the way of the narrative about the historical personality to the sacred status of the national icon of the Apostle. The achieving of this scientific task intertwines the poetry of the "canonization strategist" (Hristo Botev), the words of today's lyricists, the memory of the associates, the "written by the hand of the Apostle", the results of an Olympiad in Taraklia (Moldova), the English press, the today’s children book and even the name of a mystical regiment The research efforts face the mystery of Apostle’s path into and out of monasticism, the words of veterans and philosophers, the ode and the rhapsody, the camera and the paint brush, the sound and the letter... To draw a never-ending journey, that will forever - and everywhere, accompany the Bulgarian spirit.

Unaccompanied Children: From Migration to Integration Edited by Işık Kulu-Glasgow, Monika Smit and Ibrahim Sirkeci | Published: 19 April 2019 | Paperback: ISBN: 978-1-912997-14-5 | “The statistics show that children move in great numbers, and many do so alone. While some of the reasons which motivate them to undertake such journeys alone are similar to those of adults – e.g. wars, pursuing aspirations for better social and economic opportunities, ethnic violence, cultural differences, examples of others migrating – others are more specific to children, such as forced child marriages, lack of educational opportunities, forced conscription or being sent ahead to realize family reunification in another country. Similar to adult companions, they suffer and react to ‘democratic deficit’ and ‘developmental (economic) deficit’ and yet they may become more vulnerable in their flight. Reaching their destination often does not mean they are then less vulnerable either. They are faced with specific challenges of integration on economic, social, and cultural dimensions and in many cases also face burdens of the reunification of their family. Yet, there is little attention paid to unaccompanied minors in the literature on ‘forced’ migration. This was an important reason to initiate this book. This book largely focuses on unaccompanied minors who arrived in a European country in 2015, with special attention paid to the top-three nationalities of unaccompanied minors, namely Syrian, Afghan and Eritrean minors.” Content INTRODUCTION – Işık Kulu-Glasgow, Monika Smit, Ibrahim Sirkeci CHAPTER 1 Syrian Unaccompanied Minors Journeys to Germany and initial experiences upon arrival – Raphael Kamp and Katie Kuschminder CHAPTER 2 ‘I just wanted to be safe’: Agency and decision-making among unaccompanied minor asylum seekers – Işık Kulu-Glasgow, Sanne Noyon, Monika Smit CHAPTER 3. Politics is a ubiquitous term today. The author, a representative of social pedagogy (anthropogics), analyzes various approaches to politics, focuses on social and educational policy, looking for a place for gender politics. In her dissertation, she provides a critical insight into the educational policy in Poland after the 1989 political transformation. On the one hand, education is here understood broadly, also outside school, in the public space, from where messages about the educational dimension flow. On the other hand, the focus is directed to selected aspects of gender politics and education, which are critical to the development of girls and women, especially sexual education and reproductive rights. The end of writing the thesis coincided with the outbreak of the Revolution of Women (Autumn 2020), who called for democracy and their civil rights. The publication can help readers understand why this happened.

Learning disability; It is the difficulty in one or more of the reading, writing, speaking and arithmetic skills in a normal or gifted individual who has a brain injury or not, who has problems in academic skills. Learning disabilities were included in the special education category in the United States in 1975. Although it is believed that the cause of learning disability is due to the function of the brain and four factors, a definite cause is not known yet. These four factors are; organic, genetic, environmental causes and biochemical disorders. Students with learning disabilities constitute the largest area in special education. 50.5% of children in need of special education are classified as learning disabilities. School-age students with learning disabilities constitute 4.5%. Students with learning disabilities are most likely to have failures in reading, reading comprehension, writing and mathematics. In addition, problems can be seen in areas such as motivation, poor social skills, language, attention and perception. As a result of the researches, it was concluded that two teaching methods can be effective. These methods are; direct instruction method and cognitive strategy instruction. Direct teaching method; It is a gradual method in which the responsibility of teaching begins with the teacher and is transferred to the student, which involves presenting the topics in small steps, followed by frequent checks in order to determine how much students benefit from their presentations. Cognitive strategy teaching is effective in teaching complex academic skills such as reading comprehension and written expression, and solving mathematical problems. There are some instructional elements in this strategy. These; providing supporters, providing reminders to remember the strategy steps, giving place to interactive dialogues and developing metacognitive knowledge. In primary education, there should be instructional arrangements for students with learning disabilities. There are effective instructional arrangements and approaches to be applied in the fields of primary literacy, reading comprehension, writing, mathematics teaching and Life Sciences, Science and Social Studies.

The war and internal unrest in the neighboring countries of Turkey lead to mass migration towards Turkey. Schools are important institutions in providing social harmony. These migrations require the restructuring in the education system and schools with a new understanding. In order to create equal education opportunities for students from different races, beliefs, ethnic structures and social groups, it is necessary to restructure the school environment. In this context, the inclusive education approach, which is accepted as an educational approach that aims to respect others, to be sensitive to different thoughts and lifestyles, should be adopted. In this way, a new structure should be initiated to respond to the different requirements of the learners, to increase their participation in education, culture and society and to decrease discrimination within the education system. In this respect, national and international collaborations are established, trainings are organized, various educational resources and guide books are produced (Öztürk, Cengiz, Köksal, İrez, 2017).

The modern world is characterized by a significant dynamization and complication of ongoing international processes and a historical transformation - a transition from a unipolar to a multipolar world, i.e. the emergence of other key players, having their own interests and resources, and creating conditions for a growing role and influence on world processes. Southeastern Europe is one of the most dynamic regions as an intersection of geostrategic, geopolitical and geoenergy interests. The dynamics of processes in the countries of South-Eastern Europe are characterized by two trends: defocusing of regional development and growing risks of regional instability; turning nationalism into an increasingly real alternative to European integration. The reasons for these trends can be related to external interests/factors, the manifestation of which is expressed in the search and confirmation of spheres of influence - both in relation to the countries as a whole, and through political and social groups within the countries. Shared sustainability has aspects that cover different areas of public life – political, economic and social. The political aspect of the shared resilience of Southeast Europe includes ensuring national security, which is possible by achieving long-term political stability in the SEE region, ensuring human rights, good governance and the rule of law by supporting democracy and collective efforts to fight with organized crime, terrorism and illegal trafficking in people, drugs and radioactive materials, creating a spirit of good neighborliness by expanding cooperation with civil society. The economic aspect combines the need to achieve optimal conditions for the development of the Bulgarian economy by expanding cooperation in terms of support for the functioning of a market economy, construction and modernization of the transport, energy and communication infrastructure and diversification of the energy market. The socio-cultural aspect is expressed in work to strengthen administrative potential and good governance, making efforts to overcome poverty, protect the environment, promote people-to-people contacts, develop cultural, educational and scientific exchanges. The development of the relations of the Republic of Bulgaria with the countries of South-Eastern Europe is of strategic importance not only for Bulgaria and the region. The shared sustainability of South-Eastern Europe should be seen as an important factor in achieving integration in the European continent as a whole.
