ARHIVSKI STANDARD ISAD(g) I SITUACIJA U SLOVAČKOJ ARHIVISTICI

In summary we can state that there are not many differences between archival standards ISAD(g) in one side and information in electronic archival information system AFondy and Methodological instruction for priority processing archival fonds on the other side. As yet unresolved area we see a strict hierarchical division of information about archival described by the level of individual items. Impulse for comparison with international standards, use of archival applications was need to solve a question if we are “compatible” with the world. Even before the future we take a ﬁnal decision to adopt the standard or not, we have to answer a lot of questions. Hereby, we must recognize the entering of computer processing, online access to archival documents has inﬂuence at the unit and content of archival description. Maybe to the ﬁnal decision help view of Lisa Weber, who says “The use of standards for archival description allow to avoid syndrome perpetual inventory making and force archivists to take the ﬁnal decision and not to return constantly to solve the same issues.”

MAĐARSKI ARHIVSKI PORTAL – ZAJEDNIČKO RJEŠENJE ZA PUBLICIRANJE DIGITALIZIRANOG ARHIVSKOG SADRŽAJA I BAZA PODATAKA

The paper summarizes the background and process of creation of the Hungarian Archives Portal, which provides a common solution for the on-line publication of databases and digitized archival documents for the cooperating archival institutions. The two main functions of the portal are:  provide up-to-date information on archives for professionals, for users and for the general public (e.g. research rules and possibilities, legal framework, new publications, exhibitions, conferences, projects, professional guidelines etc.); and service a joint database integrating the various individual archival data and digitized archival records (maps, documents, files, etc.) of the collaborative institutions. The paper focuses on the second function, describing the structure, content and services of the Joint Archival Database, which is made up of six separate databases (integrated database, fonds and subfonds, cadastral maps – settlements names, documents of the communist party, archival publications, archontology and name directories) in one frame system.

KARTE, MAPE I PLANOVI SARAJEVA U HISTORIJSKOM ARHIVU SARAJEVO

The importance of the Collection of Mas and Plans possessed by the Historical Archive Sarajevo is manifold, especially from the point of view of turbulent historical overthrows which have been happening in this area for centuries. The town had been changing, even annually, depending on the conquerors that had been coming to the area. Therefore, some of 537 maps and plans possessed by the Historical Archive Sarajevo describe chronologically and thematically the enlargement and development of Sarajevo through the long history of its existence. The Collection also represents a proof of modern development of cartography and printing techniques. It is difficult to find such comprehensive collections of maps and plans of Sarajevo at any other place. Most of the maps and plans possessed by the Historical Archive Sarajevo are real rarities, and as such have big historical value.

Considering that type of material determines the type of library, archival library represents the so-called reference library. therefore it can be concluded: 1) in each archive it is necessary to establish library, 2) archival library is in fact reference collection, 3) library is semi-closed library, and that means it serves staff working in archives and all external users who work in archives, 4) that non-issuing library or open access fund for users who work in the archives, and 5) to perform referral, reference information and documentation tasks for the needs of the user of archives.

ARHIVSKI ČASOPISI U BIBLIOTECI ARHIVA TUZLANSKOG KANTONA

Library of the Archives of Tuzla Canton has eleven titles of journals in the field of archival science, which are coming out/are published in Sarajevo, Tuzla, Ljubljana, Maribor, Zagreb, Osijek and Belgrade. Some of them are still significant from its professional archival aspect. They show us the archival progress to date and what was the time of establishment and development of archival activities in the former Yugoslavia, because many archives established only after the end of World War II. In them we find many of their experiences, but often reviews of funds that were stored in the archives. Journals from more recent periods have great educational and informative character, producing guidelines and new knowledge among archivists, registrars, students of history and archival science and to all those who handle the registry and archival material. In these journals we can find everything is new, modern and advanced in the field of archival science, including computer science. Some of these new themes are: the new international standards, linking archival science and information technology and the experience obtained by colleagues who work in this field, archival profession and its place in the European Union and importance of electronic records, material owned by private individuals, digitization of materials and even all the new experiences in the field of archival science, as well as all valuable experiences that is brought by the authors not only from European countries but also from other continents. Besides these topics, these journals constructively bring the contents of the important issues in the field of archival business such as valorization of archival terminology, protection structure and its restoration, legislation accompanying archival business, networking and cooperation of archives and exchange of experiences, etc. We expect this contribution initiate completing missing numbers indicated archival journals and ensure that revives interarchival exchange of journals.

UKRAINIAN HISTORIOGRAPHY OF MUSEUM SOCIOLOGY

Objective. Historiographical study is devoted to application of methods of sociology in museum activity. The published works on museum studies, museology and history of culture lack integrity of researches on museum sociology, while fundamental papers dedicated to its complex study are absent in Ukraine at all. Here we analyze the existing historiographic base of this scientific problem. The research methodology lies in the application of systematic, historically logical and chronological methods. The mentioned methodological approach allows to carry out a historiographic analysis of the available in Ukraine literature and sources of sociological dimension of the museological paradigm. Scientific novelty lies in bringing up of the topic and processing thereof, at that the topics have to be of such a kind that has never been comprehensively investigated in historiography. In result for the first time there was comprehensively investigated the process of sociology methods application in museum practice and we obtained new and integral knowledge about the main streams of this process development. The fact-based material of the research was the biggest ever in terms of chronology, and the method of investigation applied was cross-disciplinary. Conclusions. Comprehension of the complex of documentary securing of the museum sociology allows for the conclusion that gradual development of the sociology use in museum affairs is absent. However, practical sociology methods are used by leading museum institutions operating individually and not being elements that impact the overall system. Elaboration of the theoretical aspects will comprise a basis for development of museums’ sociology.

Droga do jednolitego opracowania rzeczowego w Centralnym Katalogu Federacji Bibliotek Kościelnych FIDES

Since its inception and computerization of member libraries, Federation of Church Libraries FIDES has strived to unify the principles of subject indexing. So far individual libraries were using various IR query languages. The first attempt to standardize this issue was the introduction of initially free key words in a common MAK database. Once Central Catalogue in Koha was created, the National Library’s Subject Indexing System was selected due to newly established cooperation with NUKAT Centre. In the near future the National Library’s Descriptor project will be implemented to replace current Subject Indexing System.

Given the current poor state of the archive legislation in the Canton, it is necessary to make additional efforts on the adoption of appropriate archival regulations compatible with regulations at the level of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the state of Bosnia and Herzegovina. However, in spite of the enormous difficulties associated with archival activity, it has been able to preserve the relevant archival material as an invaluable and invaluable cultural-historical treasure. This work represents a review of regulatory framework for the arrangement of registries as institutions under in the jurisdiction of the archives. Generally, the protection of archive material of creators, according to positive regulations of the Republic of Serbia, as well as methods for archival orderliness and availability are presented. The main function of special, archival libraries is public interest and attention of researchers. The activities of archival libraries include: purchase, exchange, cataloging, preservation and protection of library and registry materials, as well as relevant archival documents; the creation of newsletters, catalogs, bibliographies, electronic databases and other information resources, and the creation of electronic information resources, thus helping users in the selection and use of materials, preparation and organization of various cultural materials, and keeping records and statistics about users.

The importance of the archives of Venice, Bologna and Modena for the Crimean studies

This paper deals with the material of Italian archives related to the history of Crimea. It demonstrates that only a few scholars have dedicated their research to Crimean studies and published papers in Turkey or elsewhere in recent years. Turkish historians have tended mainly to focus on the Ottoman Empire. Although some publications about the Crimean Khanate have been produced in historical literature during the last twenty years, the sources they use are mostly limited to either Russian or Ottoman archives. Italian archives are usually disregarded despite being important sources for historians interested in the Crimea. My aim is to guide researchers who wish to study this subject using Italian archives. First, information about archive catalogues directly connected to relations between the Khanate and the Italian city-states, such as Bologna, Modena and Venice is given. Then some examples of the documents, including letters, dispacci, reports and missionary records, considered to be relevant to the Crimean Khanate, will be presented.

The Order of Capuchin Friars came to Varaždin in 1699, when they established the monastery. The decision to build the Monastery Library was consistent with the Constitution of the Ordo Fratrum Minorum dating from 1643: “In every monastery there should be a middle-sized room designated for a library“. Present library is placed in four separate locations in the monastery, while the original one doesn’t exist any more. The first cataloging of the library fund was made by the Varazdin’s Capuchin Maccarius Varasdinensis in 1762. In manuscript entitled Catalogus alphabeticus librorum Conventus Varasdinensis ab Anno MDCCLXII, Maccarius classifies library fund in 27 subject areas. Under the area Q. Philosophi he locates 39 philosophical titles. The most significant cataloging in the monastery history, is made by capuchin friar Tomislav Sagi in 1944. Sagi conducted a detailed inspection of the library fund. Moreover, he made the catalog cards for each publication, containing following relevant data: the writer / the book title / the release date / the special remark / the content / the language / the library location. Thereby, he enabled and established all further development of the library, as well as possible research. The author’s intention is, by using two catalogues, to determine the amount of books with philosophical topics present in the Library fund of the Varaždin Capuchin Monastery Library . The goal is to accurately determine the amount of specific bibliographical items, with regard to the content, language and release date, as well as the type of publication- whether is a manuscript or incunabula.

Ukrainian Community Archives in Victoria, Australia: A Stocktake

Contemporary research increasingly recognizes the role of community archives in preserving evidence of the pasts of identity groups, validating their historical experience, and thus furthering the goals of social justice and equality. Such values underlie the Association of Ukrainians in Victoria (Australia) Archival Project, which the present article places into the broader context of Ukrainian community archival collections in the state of Victoria. Data obtained through interview have enabled a descriptive survey of such collections, which are found to be concentrated in a handful of “archival clusters” in suburban Melbourne and regional Victoria. The most typical contents of the collections—records of the proceedings and activities of community secular and religious organizations—reflect the dominant role in the community’s life of organizations established by post-World War II immigrants. The collections constitute a rich resource for research into the part of the community encompassed by these organizations, even if, as a rule, at least at present, they are not well ordered or described. They are less revealing of the experience of immigrants who arrived later or were less inclined to join community organizations. Lack of resources, both human and material, confronts the mainly volunteer officeholders who are responsible for the organizations’ archives. In consequence, collections are often inadequately and sometimes unsafely housed, and in general only informally organized; finding aids or descriptions of them are seldom available. Initiatives taken by some organizations suggest that there is growing awareness among community activists of the potential value of archives for showing and interpreting the community to itself and to others.

Дигитална трансформация – основна дейност в националните научни програми на МОН, в които участва Централна библиотека на БАН

The Central Library of Bulgarian Academy of Sciences was involved in the process of digitization of the national cultural heritage from 2011. The result is more than 405 950 files in 26 collections. In the framework of the National research program Cultural-historical heritage,national memory and social development (2019–2021) the Library realizes the digitization of the literary periodicals from the first half of 20th century. Every bibliographic record has a cross link from ALEPH 500 to the full text in DSpace. The new program Development and Recognition of the Bulgarian Studies Abroad the Library will create a bibliographic database and a digital collection in Bulgarian Studies in ALEPH 500. It will encompass among other things more than 60 volumes of the three world Congresses of Bulgarian Studies through scanning, processing and cross-referencing of METS files.

Publications Related to Slovakia Issued by the Trnava Academic Printing House in the 17th and 18th Centuries and Their Presence in Selected Libraries

The intent of the authors of the study was to call attention to slovacicums from the viewpoint of the history of book culture as a specific segment of the programme of publications of the Trnava Academic Printing House. In addition to focusing on the author-publisher environment, the authors also touched on the questions of translation and patronage. Special attention is dedicated to the reasons behind the publication of slovacicum prints in Trnava. It appears that they were above all intended to support everyday piety, to reinforce faith and last but not least, to education the young. Nor can we ignore the importance of works that marked various occasions and were linked to the leading figures of life in the region. It transpires that they were produced by a range of Slovak authors and translators. The full range of their activity and importance will only be illuminated by further research. As for the slovacicum prints present in historical book collections and modern libraries, the essential prerequisite for continuing the research is the meticulous and detailed processing of the prints in electronic catalogues, including the complete provenance data. Despite the incomplete pro- cessing of the bibliographies, slovacicums undoubtedly represent a broad area of interest with opportunities for further research into our cultural history.
