The article tackles the style of peer interactions and ways of forming relationships between junior high school students. The paper describes the ludic atmosphere within student circles and portrays interactional games among teenagers. The conclusions are presented with reference to Victor Turner's theory of communitas and Roger Caillois' typology of games. The paper is based on qualitative research (using participant observation) conducted in junior high schools.

This paper analyses attitudes towards rap music (hip hop) in Poland based on survey data. Attitudes declared towards rap music in Poland in 2005 are compared with socio-economic characteristics (age, sex, educational attainment, place of residence, financial conditions). In addition the relationship between listening to rap music and techno among youth is described. The analyses are based on the results of a representative survey of the Polish public carried out by CBOS (sample size - 4169).

The article discusses debates concerning the process of transition to adulthood taking place in young adults from around 20 to 35 years old. Events once considered the traditional markers of adulthood, such as leaving the parental home, starting a family or becoming a parent are being postponed or do not occur at all in young adults' lives. As a result new theoretical approaches are emerging that try to capture and describe the transformations within the life course. Researchers describe the process of postponing adulthood, suggest the appearance of a new life stage of 'emerging adulthood', or search for the markers of the 'new adulthood'. The article summarises the ongoing debates, indicating the consequences of the concepts or classifications used, while also pinpointing ethical issues. It postulates a critical reflection of theoretical frameworks and concepts used within youth studies.

The prolonged relation between young adults and their parents is not a new phenomenon in sociology, as it could be observed as an inseparable element of social reality across all the epochs. Long-term sociological and demographic research in West European countries and America indicates that living with parents in spite of one's maturity is attractive, which is why the level of acceptance for this trend is rising. What can we say about young adults in our country? Are Polish families affected by the crowded nest syndrome? What is the socio-demographic profile of nesters (age, gender, education, financial situation, etc.)? What are the key reasons for nesting? A general observation of attitudes among young people in Poland and of studies quoted in the paper indicates that the changes in behaviour among young individuals entering adulthood and in families as such are very far-reaching.

Dyskursy publiczne prawa autorskiego w Polsce - analiza metodą pól semantycznych

The purpose of this study was to analyse the emotional composition of copyright discourse in Poland. The findings were obtained by using the method of modified semantic field analysis. In addition to the traditional method of extracting particular semantic area elements, the researchers also coded the emotional nature of each expression - as neutral, negative, ambivalent or positive. A total of 460 press articles and 400 internet posts were analysed. The findings reveal that online discourse is no different to press discourse in regard to its emotional nature. Furthermore, it is dominated by neutral expressions, which indicates a cautious, play-safe style in Polish copyright discourse.

Naudojamas metodas pabrėžia išsilavinimo nelygybę nuo žemiausio lygmens. Authors analyze the causes and effects of educational inequality, and summarize the results of education inequality in Lithuania by using direct Gini index method. It is important to know that this method is used to calculate education inequality for basic levels.

Jungtinės Karalystės teisminiai ginčai dėl PVM kaip motyvuoto bendro mokesčių mažinimo planavimo signalai

Recent evidence shows that activities to minimize value added taxes (VAT) have become important to overall tax reduction planning. Utilizing the sample of companies in the United Kingdom that have contested their VAT burdens in the courts for 2004 through 2009, the characteristics of companies that engage in such VAT minimization activities are identified. Companies that engage in such VAT minimization activities exhibit statistically significant lower effective tax rates (ETRs) and cash effective tax rates (CETRs). They also have statistically significant larger book-tax differences (BTDs). Naujausi duomenys rodo, kad veikla siekiant sumažinti pridėtinės vertės mokestį (PVM) tapo svarbi planuojant sumažinti bendruosius mokesčius. Pasinaudojant Jungtinės Karalystės kompanijų, kurios 2004–2009 m. užginčijo savo PVM naštą teismuose, pavyzdžiu išskiriami bendrovių, vykdančių tokią PVM mažinimo veiklą, požymiai. Šios kompanijos pasižymi statistiškai reikšmingais mažesniais efektyviais mokesčių tarifais ir grynųjų pinigų efektyviais mokesčių tarifais, taip pat statistiškai reikšmingais didesniais finansinio ir mokestinio pelno skirtumais.

Valstybės skolos poveikio ekonomikos augimui vertinimas Europos Sąjungos šalyse

Straipsnyje analizuojamas valstybės skolos poveikis šalies ekonomikos augimui. Prasidėjus 2007 m. ekonomikos krizei padidėjo susidomėjimas šiuo klausimu. Valstybės skolos rodiklis Europos Sąjungos (toliau – ES) šalyse išaugo iki 72 proc. BVP. Nustatyta, kad valstybės skolos poveikio šalies ekonomikos augimui skirtumas, kai valstybės skola viršija Mastrichto kriterijų (60 proc. BVP), yra statistiškai nereikšmingas. The paper analyzes the impact of government debt on the country’s economic growth. The interest in this topic has increased since the beginning of the economic crisis in 2007. The government debt ratio in the EU has grown to 72 % of GDP. It was found that the impact difference of government debt on the country’s economic growth, when public debt exceeds the Maastricht criteria (60 % of GDP), is statistically insignificant.

Socialinių reitingų sistemose naudojamų ĮSA matavimo kriterijų analizė

In this paper the main limitations and advantages of CSR measurement methods and criteria used in the social ratings system in Europe are identified. The research showed that the designs of the systems vary considerably, according to their scope, purpose and the concepts of CSR employed. Straipsnyje aptariami pagrindiniai Europoje taikomų socialinių reitingų sistemų ĮSA matavimo metodų ir kriterijų trūkumai ir privalumai. Tyrimo rezultatai atskleidė, kad socialinių reitingų sistemų struktūra gerokai skiriasi pagal savo apimtis, tikslus ir pagal pasitelkiamą ĮSA sampratą.

This article focuses on the actions of the international community during the 2008 global economic and financial crisis when the Icelandic authorities sought international assistance to protect the Icelandic economy and its financial sector. The object is to answer the question if the international community took appropriate actions when the Icelandic banks expanded overseas as well as after their collapse? The article argues that the UK and the Netherlands showed dishonesty when demanding a sovereign guarantee for liabilities of failed private banks. Straipsnyje pagrindinis dėmesys skiriamas tarptautinės bendruomenės veiksmams globalios ekonomikos ir finansų krizės metu 2008 m., kai Islandijos valdžia prašė tarptautinės pagalbos, kad apsaugotų Islandijos ekonomiką ir jos finansų sektorių. Tyrimo tikslas atsakyti į klausimą, ar tarptautinė bendruomenė ėmėsi tinkamų veiksmų, kai Islandijos bankai vykdė plėtrą į užsienį ir po to, kai jie žlugo. Straipsnyje teigiama, kad Jungtinė Karalystė ir Nyderlandai rodė nesąžiningumą reikalaudami neribotų garantijų žlugusių privačių bankų įsipareigojimams.
