Summary/Abstract: The article provides an overview of the modern tendencies in borrowing new European words in Slavonic languages. The contrastive analysis of this layer in the lexicon has been based on three languages: Bulgarian, Russian and Ukrainian. The results of the research have revealed some peculiarities of adaptation and functioning of the international loanwords in the languages under consideration.
