Summary/Abstract: There has always been a strong connection between the writer Thomas Mann and the Freudian Psychoanalysis. The study of this connection presented a lot of difficulties because the researchers had been mislead by the lack of some information or by some contradictory information presented by the writer himself. The paper’s aim is to analyse one of the most controversial problems regarding Mann’s connections to psychoanalysis, namely the beginning of this relationship. Due to reconsideration of some statements made by the author, the research has now unanimously accepted another date as the beginning of this relationship than the one assumed hitherto
