Summary/Abstract: This paper deals with the topic of intercultural learning from the point of view of the foreign language teacher. Intercultural learning starts from an established point of view regarding the own and the other culture. It means preserving the own cultural identity and respecting the other. But what role does culture play as an abstract construct in acquiring another language? No culture is perfectly homogenous and purely authentic. In this regard, learning a new language means connecting to those “non-authentic” aspects of the culture, revealing those concepts behind words that are familiar to everyone.
