In the current climate companies are constantly seeking new and innovative ways to attract tourists’ attention to their products, and in view of the burgeoning numbers of mobile device users (smartphones, tablets, etc.) apps are becoming a very useful tool that is perfectly suited to current technological trends. The theoretical section of this paper is supplemented with a case study of the mobile apps available from Wieliczka Salt Mine. The statistics included, showing download rates among visitors or potential visitors to one of the Malopolska region’s biggest tourist attractions, indicate that this market is currently at an early stage of development, and is slowly gaining popularity among consumers.
