Institutional models of entrepreneurship support in Poland

Summary/Abstract: A research objective is to identify possibilities of institutional support of entrepreneurship through specific organizations established to act to that end. A synthetic summary of support types offered by these organizations was preceded by a classification and a description of characteristics of innovation and entrepreneurship centres (IECs). This revealed similarities and differences in their activity. To implement the objective of the paper, a document-based investigation method was used, because it was necessary to take advantage of thematic source documents, closely linked to the problem relating to the institutions subjected to the research. In an analysis, whose aim was to obtain data on the types of institutions, a scope of support offered by them (IECs), the offers and reports were examined. The object of the study are innovation and entrepreneurship centres. Our findings reveal the overlapping of a certain portion of an IECs offer. To some extent, this is dictated by the provision of common services. However, the reason of existence of a specific organization requires a distinctive offer. It is intriguing to study the effectiveness of this kind of entrepreneurship support in comparison with initiatives outside these institutions.
