Summary/Abstract: Rendering the sense of a text through translation is a synergetic interpretative process. By revisiting certain syntactic, semantic and pragmatic criteria, the case of causal structures can exemplify the complexity degree of the strategies implied in the translation process. The theoretical elements in the analysis of the causal relation, as well as the translation of causal structures, first isolated, then contextualised, can be useful in helping students approach the translation process at the level of intra-discourse relations.
