Summary/Abstract: The aim of this study is to view the opinions of both students and teachers about using metronome during professional piano training. This study is a field research in a descriptive quality. The sample of research consists of 1, 2, 3 and 4-class students (n=253) in the department of music education in the universities Niğde Ömer Halisdemir, Necmettin Erbakan, Balıkesir University and piano instructors (n=10). According to the results of the research, it’s been concluded that the majority of students in universities does not need the use of metronome during professional piano training, and instructors do not provide for the use of metronome in piano courses, and instructors suggest to student the use of metronome for practice process out of piano courses, the use of metronome positively contributes to technical and musical development, however, piano instructors in universities specify that students need to use metronome during professional piano training, and these instructors suggest to students the use of metronome during practice processes out of piano courses, and they indicate that the use of metronome contributes to technical and musical development of students. In addition, university students and university piano instructors have similar and different views on the use of metronome in the piano study process.
