- Summary/Abstract:Since its very beginning, Google search engine has exerted an impact on the way people tend to formulate questions. The most preferred way of asking Google is to form a question by means of keywords. It has influenced the way we understand any question, also an offline one. The new function People Also Ask makes it possible to abolish the artificiality of interaction between Google and the user, and thus it can be perceived as a way likening it to relations between humans. What are the possible consequences of this phenomenon? Is it possible that the algorithm, which is upgrading itself into a program capable of learning, unavoidably paves the way for becoming artificial intelligence?

- Summary/Abstract:The article is an attempt to characterize the essence of graphics development in computer games of the last decades based on the concepts of cinematographic and visual quality. The proposed categories are intended to indicate the features of electronic production that are close to earlier traditional artistic media. The analysis of some computer games lets us believe that measures adopted in their production make them resemble a film or a painting. More general examples and longer analyses of individual productions are preceded by the description of the concept of cultural interfaces. The term used for the purposes of the text sorts out the issues of relations between works created in various media and the definition of media convergence and a broader understanding of virtuality. The examples indicated in the presentation briefly introduce the reader to the extensive subject matter of the visual quality of computer games of recent years and what affects it.

- Summary/Abstract:Nowadays maps are often created by the use of new media, which facilitates their popularisation. The Internet, dedicated programs, and applications, but also GIS – these media and tools are adapted to data collection and their automatic analysis. An interesting issue in the Web 2.0 era is participatory maps. In recent years, in this area some interesting activist projects have been organized that combine not only information gathering and processing, its reconfiguration in an automated manner by a number of operations but, above all, they create the possibility of using the visualized data later to solve the problems or get the answers. In this paper, the author discusses an important and forward-looking model of communication between citizens and governors on the example of several important participatory projects.

- Summary/Abstract:Literary blogs are increasingly replacing library resources (compact forms, professional magazines, reviews, etc.), however, they do not always operate in a new language, the language of social media (i.e., colloquial, full of abbreviations, borrowings, and based on slang). This text analyses the selected literary blogs in terms of language and content, and also pictures the specificity of contemporary blogs concerning the latest literature, run by eminent literary critics and scientists, such as Jarosław Czechowicz (Krytycznym okiem), Paulina Małochleb (Książki na ostro) or Olga Kowalska (Wielki Buk). The selected reviews and discussions prove a highlevel literary language in social media and also show its gradual development depending on the subject and the type of expression. Blogging is undoubtedly a part of high culture and often contains substantive reviews in the highest-level literary language. It is a return to the traditional language of reviews and scientific lectures, which gradually supersede the language of abbreviations in the blogosphere. The new medium is therefore used as a didactic form, and the novelty in it is the (not-new) university language. Such changes reveal the possibility of combining tradition with innovation at the most fundamental level, which in the case of literary blogs is the language itself.

(Politics Does Not Exist Social Media and Simulacrum)
- Author(s):Miłosz Markiewicz
- Language:Polish
- Subject(s):Communication studies
- Page Range:111-127
- No. of Pages:17
- Summary/Abstract:The author analyses situations that reveal how politics has moved to the virtual space. As a result of this transfer, the field of practicing politics is not widening; on the contrary – a specific transfer takes place, which makes the material dimension of the political space unrealistic. The actions and statements of politicians in social media have real effects in material reality. Citizens’ political life is also being transferred to the virtual space. Recalling the concept of Jean Baudrillard, we can recognize that this shift has turned politics into its simulacrum. According to the ontology of digital content, especially in terms of the possibility of removing the content from the internet, as well as the simulacrity of virtually practiced politics, the author proposes the concept of non-presence to diagnose hyperrealist politics and civic slacktivism (Evgeny Morozov). The author indicates that such politics becomes an instrument of bio-power, controlling the activity of civil society.
