Summary/Abstract: The article examines some features of nicknames in Blagoevgrad - their semantic mo-tivation and word-formation. Most of the nicknames are used with semantically changed (narrowed or expanded) meaning. Outstanding are the nicknames that have completely opposite semantic mo-tivation for its creation. Overall the word-formative models for the creation of Blagoevgrad nick-names coincide with the ways of word-formation in youth speech.
