Religion and science are two fundamental disciplines for human understanding of life. During time, the two seem to be antagonist and to exclude each other. Almost 2000 years have to surpass for the conclusion that in fact religion and science are not in opposition, for the simple fact that these two are looking and praising for the work of God in Universe. This study shows on basses of some articles published in local ecclesiastic press that both the Religion and Science are ways of knowing and understanding of God, as a fundamental principle of human kind.

The coming to power of communism, after World War 2, meant, for the Romanian Orthodox Church and its servants, a true nightmare. Almost half a century went by since they died or disappeared in communist prisons. Many of them were secretly buried in tombs unfamiliar to anyone, in common burial grounds, without any crosses present. Throughout the ordeal they were about to suffer, they were mocked and humiliated to the point of dehumanization, forced to eat with just a single spoon, subjected to other hardships, all for the purpose of denigrating the ancient Church and its servants. Due to the inhuman conditions they were subjected to, the tens of Church servants died after being liberated due to the suffering endured in prison and following the tortures they were subjected to.

The people’s heroes must not be mourned, but praised, as the way of their death lies on a path different to that of any other mortal. Their names are jotted on in the book of the eternal life of the Romanian people and the Church shall remember them by their names, before believers throughout the ages. Heroes were and shall remain our heroes for eternity, as they fought the good fight and have won. And by dying, sacrificing themselves, they left us the Great Romania. Who were those soldiers having conquered the enemy? They were our children, grandchildren, spouses, relatives, acquaintances and friends of our grandparents and our grandparents. Such heroes properly deserve our sacred honoring and our tribute of gratitude, the Holy Father Ioan, Metropolitan of Banat, states in an interview.

Banat is a province whose culture and civilization are lost in the mist of time. It was, at all times, under the influence of higher cultures within their area of interference. The multiculturalism in Banat shall, in time, create a climate of stability and peaceful cohabitation in the region. In Banat, it was not only exterior culture that was sowed on barren land, but it was also the cradle of an ancient, multi-millennial culture. Banat did give, as well, but it also assimilated and synthesized anything coming from the extra-cultural area of Banat. Banatul was at the receiving end, but it also shared some of the thesaurus of its culture. As an imperial province, it had access to West-European culture, but there were also moments of stagnation, when it came under Ottoman occupation. Banat, however, remained Christian and anchored into Christian and European values.

Among the marking personalities of church life in the Caransebeş Bishopric, one may find Dr. Cornel Corneanu, a leading ardent patriot and reviver of the Romanian people’s dream of national unity and independence. Going however through his life and activity, we may notice he was appreciated by some people with maximum scores, but he was also disputed by others: justly or unjustly? That is a question which we shall eventually submit for debate.

Along the time, for Romanians living in Faget, too, the Church played a staggering part in maintaining the national faith, culture and identity, in the crystallization and up-keeping of national perception. The first priests in the Făget area were recorded in the first half of the 16th century, although narratives imply that some of them were recorded at the end of the previous century. The first information about religious life in the Făget area, at the level of the current research, dates back to 1511. The first priests in the current Făget archpriestship were certified to have existed in the first half of the 16th century , though narratives imply that some of them were recorded at the end of the previous century.

Over time, Banat was called the region at the edge of empires, because in this geographical space, bordered by Mures, Tisa rivers and Danuberivers, civilizations and cultures merged. This cultural symbiosis was possibledue to the historical developments of the area and due to the various dominionsand influences that have succeeded here over time, and remains a mark of thisregion up to this day, being proved by the ethnic diversity from Banat and bythe multicultural expressions existing here. It is understandable that such aspace generated a rich theological activity of which little is known today, bothfrom a epistemological perspective and from a chronological one. What waswritten in Romanian and what are the first theological projects developed inBanat? What value and how creative were these theological works? What werethe main towns and areas in which this theological activity gain momentum? Here are some of the questions that the present study aims to answer in short. The conclusions constitute a starting point for a more comprehensive research, which would group and evaluate the theological writings from Banat, highlighting the importance and the impact of these texts. It should be noted thatthe present study is limited and considers only the Romanian-language theological literature printed in Banat – without any references to the printingactivity from Arad – until 1948.

The faunal material that is the subject of this archaeozoological project comes from archaeological research on a Neo-Eneolithic settlement located on the border of Parţa village (Timiş County). The settlement represents one of the most important Neolithic settlements in northern Banat, and is believed to have been one of the region’s major settlements in the late Neolithic period. The numerous archaeological research campaigns have determined numerous data related to the spiritual life of the prehistoric communities in Parța, highlighted by the research of the two sanctuaries and the observations about ritual practices outside the shrines (house altars, ritual deposits, etc.). In most cases, these communities expressed in various ritual forms their veneration and gratitude to the gods, using animals or parts of them to perform these rituals. In this paper we want to address those issues related to the usage of animals (or animal parts) in ritual practices, insisting on the identified taxa and the distribution of animal remains in ritual complexes, continuing with the interpretation of the data obtained. Finally, we want to discuss possible hypotheses related to ritual practices, argued by paleofaunal data.
