The current study goes back to the beginnings of media communication in order to re-examine and valorize this field’s specific aspects. Special attention is given to the invention of the printing press in Europe, by Johann Gutenberg, or by another person hidden under this name, and to his influence in spreading information and entertainment. The printing press would become an industry, seen as a business. This liberal approach of printing texts necessary to an ever growing and increasingly educated public would contribute to the emergence of the first publications (journals or gazettes). Their diffusionwould be enabled by the readers’ need for news and entertainment, as well as by the interest in profit, as proven by the owners of such businesses.

The speed with which online media has conquered not only the mind but also the souls and hearts of people, determined the connection of advertising to this media. The online media is so loved, so accessible, but most of all made everybody who has started using it being addicted to. Could the advertising really be missing from the web pages? The answer is no! Being on every page, the advertising played the role of a trainer and the role of a supporter of online media. The reason why the people who work in advertising made impressive efforts to conquer the web pages is that today, the Internet is an indispensable way of promoting, with a large area covered, with low costs, with maximum accessibility and a big impact on a large audience. This audience impossible to reach to through the traditional ways is made of young people, the people with high income, with high education, who are attracted by new, flexibility and interactivity.

The principal idea of this study of semantic preferences in the journalistic discourse is to observe and discuss how journalists tend to orient their target readers either to facts or to quotes playing sovereigns of the effects they give to the voices they reproduce. At the same time, news reports maintain their claim to objectivity and impartiality while shaping, at certain levels, a distinctive rhetorical potential, using the communicational qualities of the “voice” with which the discourse is associated and by encoding the acceptance of a social attitude and its obvious inclusion into the discourse, thus positioning the readers.

When talking about Facebook as a factory of narcissism, Mr. Teodor Baconschi gives an large space to socio-cultural syndrome that enormously steals our creative energies: Illusion of authority (Facebook. Fabrica de narcisism/ Facebook. Factory of narcissism, Humanitas, 2015, p. 97). If on the virtual space it is the generator of many biographies that assail us and banish our peace, now we see it permeating politics and the daily life and thus tensioning the human relationships. That has a precedent only in temptations of the Christ Savior in Carantania. Be like us, the intolerant minorities in Romania, and everything will be well. An unfair good that makes us sweep the history, mentality and morality under the carpet, in order to adjust to the requirements of small groups suffering from the illusion of authority. You are wondering, often, as I do, where the force of all denominations of stray humanism comes from, who gave birth to them and where would they want to lead us. The situation is obvious. They have illusory titles and careless culture and a kind of mandatory mediocrity imposes their representatives as leaders. Listen to them and read attentively how they write and, more recently, how they teach their young lackeys to participate in building a culture based on caricatural prophecies, on false cares of everything and everybody, trying to pose as initiated willing to initiate any zealous acolyte. If the Baconshi’s book identifies not only these aspects but others too, as frameworks of an illusion related to authority at the virtual communication level, we see them now staring at us in our daily communication, often supported by a legislation rigged overnight by their persuasion, which are transformed into threats, yarns of reedomintertwined with ropes of spiritual halters.

The present paper reports the research conducted on the mechanisms of the cardiovascular diseases, with focus on the myocardial infarction – diseases responsible for the largest number of sudden deaths worldwide. Statistics show that, each year, myocardial infarction is the cause of half of all the demises in the world and of 4.5 million deaths in Europe. The animal model of the myocardial infarction plays a vital role in the prevention, diagnosis, and therapy of the human myocardial infarction. The experimental myocardial infarction in animals induced by means of isoprenaline is a documented, common mechanism that enables one to study of the protective role of various cardioprotecting agents. Many studies have shown so far the antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects of Hedera helix on diverse apparatuses and systems, yet not on the cardiovascular apparatus too. That has prompted us to test the cardioprotective role of the Hedera helix extract in experimental myocardial ischemia induced by isoprenaline. The 14-day long experimental laboratory research consisted in specific methods applied to several groups of rats. The present paper reports the results and conclusions being reached. In the future we intend to have the effect of Hedera helix tested on humans too.

For societies suffering in the wake of a repressive regime, truth commissions may be a necessary compromise regarding the form of transitional justice pursued, but they can still play a far-reaching role in the democratization of civil-military relations. Because the perpetrators of past abuses are likely to continue to wield some level of power at the time of transition, prosecution of these members may be politically infeasible. Lacking the mandate to prosecute guilty parties or implement recommendations, truth commissions can still lay the foundation for a new era of civil-military relations. By distinguishing contemporary institutions from their past acts, revealing the patterns that allowed abuses to be carried out , and helping garner the political will for reforms, truth commissions can provide the impetus for the security sector reforms necessary to ensure a democratic future.

The low wage share has been one the traditional problems of the Slovak economy. This article deals with the change in the structure of income: the prevailing low share of wages in value added began to grow significantly in recent years. The functional structure of income in the years 2013 – 2015 developed in such a way as in the Slovak economy has not previously been recorded. The reversal was linked to a new phenomenon in the labor market: employment and labor income parameters were improving despite only weak economic growth (it was previously not conceivable). Change of trends in the structure of income (together with the improvement of labor market indicators) was enabled by changed structure of aggregate demand increases, employment growth in the state-influenced branches, changes in the sectoral composition of GDP growth and also by changes in the forms of employment.

Divergence is the basic trend of regional development in Slovakia. In-creasing regional disparities multiply the adverse situation of margined and economically weaker regions. The aim of the article is to delimit marginal regions on the level of districts in terms of selected relevant indicators of socio-economic marginality, which reflect the level of economic development, living conditions of population and social climate of regional societies. The contribution of the article is in capturing of changes in their development, which took place in the years 2001 and 2011. From the point of view of Slovakia, these were very important periods in many aspects because it was when Slovakia became member of the EU (2004) and of Eurozone (2009) and, along with the rest of the world, suffered the con-sequences of the economic crisis (2008). The quoted and other events significantly affected regions and their changes. Increase of margined districts, deepening of their marginality and changes in spatial distribution were observed.

The paper explores the asymmetric relation between public debt and economic growth in 13 EU countries in the period 1993 – 2013. A panel data model uncovers a linear relation between debt-to-GDP decrease and GDP growth, while the relation between the debt-to-GDP increase and GDP growth is defined by an inverted U-shaped curve (parabola) with the peak at a 64% debt-to-GDP ratio. We identified two main patterns in relations between debt-to-GDP and GDP growth: (i) hysteresis loop – country data trace the closed circle defined within the debt interval [53%, 113%] (Austria, Finland, Denmark) and (ii) debt trap – country debt-to-GDP ratio breaks the 113% level and indebtedness increase followed by the GDP fall is tracing the diverging tail of parabola (debt trap in Greece, Italy, Portugal).

This paper first examines the causal relationship between the current account and financial account then the current account and the main components of financial account and finally the financial account, saving, and investment in Croatia, Hungary, Poland, Romania and Slovenia. In this context we employ Toda-Yamamoto approach to Granger causality test by using the quarterly data. We find a causal relation running from the financial (current) account to the current (financial) account in Croatia (Poland) and Slovenia (Romania) while a bi-directional causality exists in the case of Hungary. We conclude that at least one component of financial account balance Granger causes current account in Croatia, Poland, Romania and Slovenia while the causality running from the current account to at least one component of financial account in Poland, Romania and Hungary. It seems that the financial account Granger causes the saving in Hungary and investment in Croatia while the causality running from the saving in Romania and investment in both Croatia and Poland to the financial account.

In the deep, dark forests and in the lush green valleys, worshippers of Dionysus celebrated the eternal cycles of death and rebirth, symbolized in the sacred mask of the wild god. Drunk and intoxicated, wearing the mask of Dionysus, the actor is at once the shaman and the priest. Channeling the presence of the fearsome divinity, he drinks the sacred wine and eats the raw flesh of his prey. In this eternal moment, he becomes one with the god and the beast residing inside of him. Within Ancient Greek culture, the sacred rites of Dionysus have been appropriated and transformed to theatre performances. The shaman became the actor, the participants became the audience, the sacred altar became the stage. From myth as a ritual performance emerged the theatre of tragedy, in which the undying spirit of Dionysus, majestic and terrifying, speaks to us even today.

The article discusses the sources of positive attitudes toward the European integration in local communities and among local elites. The economic reasons(European funds) are important, but the socio‑cultural aspects of the support is very significant. The Polish local communities have many reasons to be afraid of the European integration, because of their backwardness, lack of knowledge, low human capital, and introductory negative influence of the europeization on agriculture and local industry. In spite of all of these, local communities and local elites have been supporting the integration since its beginning. The citizens treated this as common cultural advance. Under the new conditions, the local communities experienced revitalization of the local identity. For the local elites the Europeanization means modernization of local governments and their adaptation to new standards of governance. In effect there is broad support for emerging multilevel government in the European Union, perceived as a subsidiary relation within the EU.

Aggressive behaviour in children and youth is a widespread phenomenon. Antisocial behaviour that includes certain kind of aggressive behaviour can occur and disappear again during a child’s development. However, from a psychological perspective aggression can be one of the problematic types of behaviour in children with long-lasting negative consequences. The aim of this research paper is to examine teachers’ perceptions of the types of aggressive behaviour as well as to find out the causes for the development of aggressiveness in school-age children in Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) from the teacher’s point of view. In order to define and classify the types of aggressive behavior in school age children in BiH, the descriptive method was used.In order to understand aggressive phenomena and to identify their cause(s), the explanatory method was used. In order to examine teachers’ perceptions of the types of aggressive behaviour as well as the causes for the development of aggressiveness, assessment scales for teachers’ perceptions were used. The research findings indicate that proactive, reactive, and relational types of aggression are most often seen in school-age children from teachers’ perceptions. The causes of aggressive behaviour range widely: Aggressive behaviour occurs as a combination of internal impulses and external stimuli or triggers that indicate possible aggression, so temperament as well as environmental factors can influence the development of aggressiveness;aggressive behaviour is acquired through learning by observing and imitating a model; the role of parents and their way of disciplining a child is another important cause; finally, mass media is seen as important cause of aggressive behaviour
