Kadın ve Yabancılaşma

The idea of a woman accepted as the “other sex” has been unacceptable throughout history in terms of masculine mentality, existence of a woman with her own gender in a gendered society has only been possible as a “second sex”. The problem is that the demand of the woman to live with her own gender, with equal rights and freedoms to the man, is subject to natural legality without the need or approval of the masculine mentality. Therefore, while it is argued that gender studies have a functioning parallel to ecological cycle and natural laws in the perspective of ecofeminism and it has also thought that labor exploitation, marginalization, reification and cultural capitalism were built on the basis of a particularly sexist discrimination. Therefore, the masculine politics that caused women to be alienated to society evokes the pressure of power on women in the constitutional order, about representation in science-philosophy and art, and in demands for equality and freedom in social life and e.t.c. It has known that this negative discrimination leads to the exploitation of labor, the commodification of the female body, reification of people in general, legitimizing the reduction of women to second class human status with the perception of “second gender”, making the image of women a marketing tool in art, the extortion of women's right to speak and represent in politics, hence the alienation of the woman to her own society and marginelized to it. This alienation problem will be evaluated in terms of gender with the paper titled “Woman and Alienation” and philosophical dimensions of the mentioned concept will be discussed.

Humanities at the Periphery. The Return to Philology and the Importance of Literary Studies

The first chapter of the paper summarizes the devaluation process of the humanistic values that has begun in the West a few decades ago. The question is why and how the so-called knowledge societies marginalize humanistic knowledge. The second, third, and fourth chapters are the proposal of the mission of the humanities today: pushed out to society’s periphery, the humanities have the task of preserving skills, experiences, and knowledge that so-called knowledge society considers needless. Thereby, the paper advocates the importance of returning to philology, as Paul de Man puts it in his article Return to Philology, and tries to show the extent to which philology, ceasing to be national, becomes a communal, political and ethical force.

Politika istine u „Izvanbrodskom dnevniku” Slobodana Novaka

This paper analyzes the novel Three Journeys (Izvanbrodski dnevnik) by Slobodan Novak, in terms of its narrative structure and literary devices that are being used to disfigure the speech produced by centres of power in both everyday and official communication. As opposed to political allegory, to which the novel has been linked so far, it is argued that a complex narrative structure and stylistically carefully crafted storytelling point to self-referentiality of the novel. The story of Magistar is framed by Magistar’s writing of manipulative techniques used by other characters against him. Writing is a successful resistance practice to manipulation of perception because it exposes the unspoken assumptions of the latter, as well as it reveals mechanisms of emotional abuse. The novel is read as a place of freedom from a one-sided interpretation referencing the political state in former Yugoslavia, demonstrating by its structure that freedom in literature is in fact entitlement of literature to be free of any type of instrumentalization.

SWOT Analysis of the Common Security and Defence Policy for Being Better Prepared for “Black Swan Events”

This publication aims to look at the process of strategic rethinking of the Common Security and Defence Policy 5 years after the adoption of the Global Strategy for the Foreign and Security Policy. It is based on a SWOT analysis of CSDP and places special emphasis on the need of more flexibility and less time-consuming decision-making process, in order EU to be better prepared for the so-called “black swan events”. With no intention of being exhaustive, it provides an analysis of certain tendencies in the policy which aims at enabling the Union to take a leading role in the international relations. In this regard the article: i) on the one hand: focuses on the key elements of the SWOT analysis, revealing what the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats of the CSDP are; ii) on the other hand: draws attention to the concept of the “black swan events”, the new Strategic compass and the need for EU Global strategy transformation into a smart strategy, balancing between strategic vision and flexibility.
