There are ten different hypotheses about the linguistic affinities of Xiongnu language and the problem seems to be irresolvable. Chinese historical chronicles are the only source of data about the language (but it is not impossible that Xiongnu inscriptions should be discovered (as it is clamed by some Chinese scholars). The data of Chinese authors should be studied more carefully and the phonetic adaptations of Sanskrit Buddhist terms into Chinese can serve as a very important tool for revealing the phonetic form of Xiongnu glosses. The Slavic world was a part of the wave of the European Hunnish invasion and Slavic peoples borrowed the word for "book" from the language of European Huns - a fact of great significance, throwing light on the cultural role of European Huns in Eastern Europe (and more precisely - on the role of Hunnish Bulgarians, the organizers of Slavic kingdom of Bulgaria). The Xiongnu tradition of naming castles "White Castle" was introduced into Slavic World by Hunnish Bulgarians and is a strong proof about the continuity of some features of the Xiongnu identity cind Xiongnu culture among the European Huns. The paper presents some examples of Xiongnu words and three Xiongnu songs - one in Chinese transcription and two in Chinese translations. The first poetry - the well known two-line prophesy, commented in many Turkic studies, is not actually Hunnic, as the "Jic" language, according to the sources, must be Tocharian, not Hunnish.

Animated comedy as a form of pop-culture has been reserved exclusively for children for a long time, and, as such, adjusted to their level, both in content and TV airing. We should stress that every animated program is not necessarily comical, that is, understood as a form of comedy. That is why any children's program could not have been considered as adult. Finally, there is an entire culture of "adult cartoons", which deals with sexual topics, as in porn movies or underground art. This paper aims to show how the language of modern animated American TV comedy has undergone changes in relation to the language of the respective genre in its very beginnings.

The paper deals with the analysis of syntactic transformations – passivization and nominalization regarding their ideological use. Within the ideological discourse analysis, we want to show how syntactic transformations can be used for manipulative purposes. First of all, we describe the changes within sentences through their transformation from deep into surface structure, e.g. the ellipsis of agent, claiming that sentences do not keep the same meaning in their deep and surface structure. Image schemas conditioned by different perspectives of the given situation enable such manipulations and can possibly explain the ideological use of syntactic transformations.

The present paper has tackled the metaphor “life is a game” in the Qur’an within the theoretical framework put forward by Lakoff and Johnson (1980), known as the Cognitive Theory of Metaphor, where it has shown how the Qur’an is structured around the idea of the life process and how every correspondence between the two domains of “life” and “game” can fit there. The metaphor “life is a game” takes as a source domain the concept “game” and as a target domain the concept “life”. The other related metaphors are an extension of that metaphor. It gives us knowledge about something we did not know or only partly knew about our life.

This paper gives a linguistic overview of the public discourse of Alija Izetbegovic on the example of his (oral) speech entitled Return to Head of the Party. Since public discourse of Alija Izetbegovic has had an important place in the overall Bosnian and Herzegovinian public discourse, and moreover it has been successful in shaping a worldwide public discourse in politics, the paper will explore some important features of Izetbegović’s public discourse in a particular social context. Thus, special attention in this paper will be given to the following questions: which linguistic and nonlinguistic discourse elements are the parts of Izetbegović’s public discourse and what is their contextual function. Interestingly enough, his speeches have not yet been seriously and scientifically analyzed, even though many collected (Izetbegović’s) speeches and interviews have already been published. The aim of the author of this paper is not to find out the reasons why Izetbegović’s speeches have not been analyzed linguistically, sociologically, psychologically, or from some other point of view, but to bring attention to the characteristics of one discourse that significantly shaped an image of identity of Bosnia and Herzegovina in a given time as well as to give prominence to non-linguistic elements that made an impact on his linguistic form.
