The article reviews the history and current functioning of the alternative care and family support in Poland under the Alternative Care and Family Support System Act of June 9th 2011. The author claims that although the Polish system of alternative care was introduced in the early 1990s. and amended in the last 25 years, it still does not fully meet the children’s needs and does not offer much needed support to the incapable parents.

The article discusses selected aspects concerning Technology Assessment as an institutionalised way of supporting public policy in the area of technology governance. The author introduces the concept of governance (as opposed to governement), i.e. a decision-making proces that proposes more involvement of citizens and discusses its principles (openness, participation, accountability, effectiveness, coherence). The author argues that Technology Assessment is a very important field of good governance as it contributes to the formation of public and political opinion on societal aspects of science and technology.

The aim of this study was to investigate whether it is possible to create an online, distributed, multilayered and multimedia textbook for the subject Organization and management of information, consisting exclusively of online resources and tools. The research was based on a comprehensive exploration of the Internet, finding materials that meets the criteria of scientific correctness and suitability for the established concept of the textbook. The collection of valuable materials was separated from encyclopedias and syntheses, articles presenting the results of researches, recorded lectures, courses, practitioners' advices, examples of practical solutions and online tools. The thesis has been proved - in the case of mentioned subject, the Internet provides resources and tools that can be successfully use to create a virtual textbook based on the principles of constructivism and pedagogical connectivism.

Foreign language learning/teaching has undergone major changes since the advent of digital media as a tool for language studies. New technologies offer efficient ways for retrieving information, facilitating communication and enabling distance learning. In many cases, ICT get integrated into didactics; language courses are based on blended learning, and online resources become an integral part of the learning process. These changes give rise to methodological questions how and when digital resources should be used and whether they could replace the conventional means. The paper presents an overview of an ongoing discussion related to the role of digital media in language learning/teaching, and learning vocabulary in particular. An experiment conducted at Kaunas University of Technology to determine whether computers help students to learn new words is described and the findings of the experimental study are analyzed. A follow-up survey disclosed the students’ preferences and needs when learning new vocabulary, reading texts or doing writing tasks. The respondents’ answers serve as a background for the methodological recommendations how to make language studies more efficient by an appropriate blending of digital and conventional media in the learning process.

Attitude is a dual-poled essence: possessing positive thoughts on a course or subject, liking a course or exhibiting positive affective nature in relation with it, or having negative thoughts on a course or subject, disliking it or exhibiting negative affective features in relation with it (Bloom, 1979). Attitudes are different from opinions, values and beliefs. Attitudes and opinions resemble each other, but they differ from attitudes in terms of degree of generalizability and the measuring technique. Opinions are personal reactions to specific occurrences and conditions. But attitudes should be taken in a more general sense, as they influence people's reactions against sets of events and groups of people, in a more broad sense. The teaching profession has been mentioned among the favorite occupations, and researchers wanted to know if attitudes have anything to do with this tendency. It has been a subject for many researches that attitudes towards teaching profession differ by gender (Cook & Medley, 1954; Capri & Celikkaleli, 2008; Cetin, 2003; Dogan & Coban, 2009). The aim of this research is to determine the impact of gender variable on the teaching profession via meta-analysis method. Effect models specified for meta-analysis have been compared. This research covers the results of meta-analysis combining 27 researches determined useful by master's theses and doctorate dissertations which take gender as the variable. Effect size of the gender in relation with the attitude towards the teaching profession is found to be 0.301 for the fixed effect model, and 0.304 for the random effect model. When a frequency table for directions of effect sizes is created, 20 researches (74%) showed a positive effect size. Together with this result, 74% of the researches explain that females have more positive attitudes over males. Absence of any 0 effect size in this research explain that there has been no research indicating that attitudes towards the teaching profession do not differ between males and females. It has been concluded that medium differences exist according to Cohen's classification, and small differences exist according to Thalheimer's classification. It has been inferred from these findings that gender is an important variable in terms of attitudes towards the teaching profession, and that the medium effect it possesses over attitude should be examined.

This study aims to determine the relationship between school administrators’ anxiety levels on authority use, and their burnout levels. Designed using the correlational survey model, participants of this study are 273 primary, middle and secondary school administrators in the province of Mugla, in Turkey. Data was collected using Scale on School Administrators’ Anxiety on Authority Use, and the Burnout Scale. Data was analysed using descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, Kruskal Wallis H test, and multiple regression analysis. The findings indicate that school administrators’ anxiety level for authority use at medium for personnel affairs dimension, and at low for educational affairs, disciplinary and order, and management dimensions. School administrators’ anxiety level for authority use significantly differs as of seniority. Findings related to burnout indicate that school administrators experience emotional exhaustion at a low level and depersonalisation at a very low level, yet they experience a higher level of burnout in terms of personal accomplishment. Results point to significant relationships between burnout level of school administrators and their seniority and area of expertise. The results also point out that administrative affairs dimension of anxiety for authority use is an important predictor of their burnout at depersonalisation dimension, while the personnel affairs dimension of their burnout at personal accomplishment dimension. Dimensions of the anxiety for authority use, as a whole, explain 5.7% of emotional exhaustion level, 5.2% of depersonalisation level, and 4.3% of personal accomplishment level of school administrators.

The aim of the study is to investigate apology strategies used by EFL teachers in Turkish and English. For the purpose of the study, a qualitative research was carried out. The study utilized purposeful sampling. Three EFL instructors participated in this study. The data were collected via a Discourse Completion Task (DCT) that had eight apology situations. Analyzing the results indicated that there was no significance difference in apology strategies used by the participants, and their L1 apology speech act strategies were not significantly different from their L2 productions. Their L1 can be said to have an effect on their use of apologies, as they transferred native Turkish norms into English. The results of the study emphasized the importance of teaching pragmatic competence in EFL. This study might be of pedagogical help and significance to teachers interested in pragmatics in general, and apology speech act in particular.

The development of a multicultural society as a new stage of human development suggests the importance of modern multicultural educational environment. In this regard, the questions related to the problem of multicultural virtual educational environments are very real. This study deals with the problem of multicultural informational and educational environment as a new class of multicultural educational environments in the age of global informatization and virtualization of modern society and education. The research concludes that modern multicultural informational and educational environment is characterized by tolerance, regionalization, and tendency towards stable functioning and development. In summary, it is noted that multicultural informational and educational environment contribute to the formation of the national identity of a person and provides training for the better understanding of other cultures, recognition and acceptance of cultural diversity.

In the 2023 vision strategy, prepared by TUBITAK in Turkey, Information Technology (IT), areas have been designated for target countries and FATIH project started in 2010. In order to achieve the aimed goals, FATIH (Increasing Opportunities and Improving Technology Movement) project consists of five main components. These components establish hardware and software infrastructure, educational e-content preparation and management, effective use of IT in the curriculum, in-service training of teachers, conscious, reliable, manageable and quantifiable IT use. The first component identifies technical infrastructures of school. The second component was created for the provision of educational content which is Education Information Network (EIN). The third component considers training programs. The fourth and fifth components of the effective use of IT by teachers discuss the issue of conscious and reliable Internet use and plan information for the in-service training. This paper presents the first component of the FATIH project and discusses the current situation and future goals of the ongoing project.

Celem badań było rozpoznanie związku pomiędzy założeniami teoretycznymi a realizacją edukacji zdrowotnej na etapie szkoły podstawowej. W badaniach zastosowano metodę zbierania danych w oparciu o źródła wtórne (Rubacha 2011). Analizie poddano zapisy dotyczące procedur realizacji edukacji zdrowotnej zapisane w przedmiotowych planach pracy nauczycieli (język angielski, przyroda, wychowanie fizyczne, wychowanie do życia w rodzinie) w oparciu o wytyczne zawarte w podstawach programowych wychowania przedszkolnego oraz kształcenia ogólnego w poszczególnych typach szkół (Dz.
