The occupation of the Czech lands in March 1939 and Adolf Hitler’s stay in Prague on 15 and 16 March 1939 have been described in both specialist and memoir literature. Yet new archival materials relating to these events are still emerging. These include the report on the occupation of Prague Castle from May 1939 by JUDr. Karel Strnad, an official of the President’s Office, and two German documents: on President Emil Hácha’s return from Berlin on 15 March 1939 and on Adolf Hitler’s stay at Prague Castle.

The paper focuses the inter-war period from the perspective of longue durée processes study. For the analysis, the author uses ethnographic data concerning architecture and housing in three Slovak rural settlements. The paper aims to discuss the periodicity of the 20th century history, based on the important political events. Ethnographic data from the inter-war Slovak countryside emphasizes ambiguity of this period. The key argument is the statement, that dynamism of the processes in the microsocial structures, concerning everyday culture of the ordinary people, has different character and different impact than the processes on the macrosocial level.

The engine of urban transformation involves different cycles of unitary innovation and engineering that have objectives, resources, deadlines and priorities. The actors most often involved are: local administrations - which set priorities, challenges for competitiveness, sustainability and social inclusion, elaborate and implement urban development policies and make urban planning plans; research institutes and companies in the technological field that can offer technological solutions and facilities for testing and experimenting social innovations. The technological dimension, representing a space with multiple opportunities and within an urban innovation ecosystem, requires innovation environments, communities and stakeholders within the urban value system, who will play various roles. There is an obvious need for cooperation with citizen groups, local government, technology providers and other actors to develop, make prototypes, validate solutions that are truly in the interest of citizens and the city. Particularly important are the public-private partnerships for the development of projects aimed at urban development, for example in the field of social innovation, job creation, environmental problems, transport optimization, and many others. Therefore, the discussion on the development of the city should not be limited to immediate solutions related to infrastructure, social services or prosperity, but should pay greater attention to it’s built heritage, it’s conservation and upgrading.

Himalayas known as abode of snow is not only a geographical feature for India rather it is abode of gods, and entrusted India a unique cultural and aesthetic dynamism. Sumptuous in forest and cultural heritage, the western part of Himalayas forming modern Himachal Pradesh preserves a rich tradition of woodcarving since hoary past. There are age-old temples made in cedar wood, which still exist in the valley of river Spiti presenting marvels of woodcarving in classical sophisticated style patronized by the royalty and other side indigenous style of native people. Thus, the said valley presents a wide range of artistic woodcarvings and a legacy of unique traditional building practice known as kath-khuni construction. Now, in recent years’ modernization and developmental programme besides linking remote parts of Himachal to the main stream of Indian national development has threatened the traditional arts and heritage. This study mainly confines to the wooden temple of Mirkula Devi survived in the region of Spiti valley. The study presents holistic aesthetic view on the classical and indigenous Architecture known as Kath-Kuni and woodcarvings. There has hardly been any in depth study on folk and aboriginal art in the said area. Therefore, data collection and photographic documentation fully depended on extensive fieldwork. This became only possible with the help of local people and civil authorities in concerned region.

The work discusses the changes that have occurred in the structural control of architecture in the second half of the XIXth century. The starting point is supplied by the examination of two projects of the architect–engineer Giuseppe Damiani Almeyda, representative of two successive moments of an evolutionary process whose current outcome seems to be a deep fracture between the fields of architecture and engineering. Giuseppe Damiani Almeyda constitutes a paradigmatic figure of that particular historical moment in which the transition from the ancient art of building to the modern strength of materials occurs.

In this article, I describe and interpret the visions of home offered by Polish director Patryk Vega in a series of his action films directed for several years. My goal is to present a short critical study of the housing phenomenon in a section of his creative output. There is a visible contrast between his first picture "Pitbull" (2005) and following parts screened in theatres in 2016. Vega began with an effort to portray the dramatic state of public officers’ housing conditions. His later movies became blockbusters inspired by American action cinema, but a case of the visions of apartments remained. A sad picture of poor housing was replaced by fantasies about gangsters’ mansions.
