ANALYSIS OF SUPPLY DISTRIBUTION MODEL - NORTH ATLANTIC TREATY ORGANISATION LOGISTIC INFORMATION SYSTEM

This paper describes and analyzes Supply Distribution Model (SDM) - module of a North Atlantic Treaty Organisation (NATO) Logistics Functional Area Services (LOGFAS) Infomation system which is used for supply chain modeling and simulation. SDM typically works with certain constraints and restrictions. Aim of this article is to outline solutions which may improve SDM's explanatory power and practical use of output information. The proposal comes out of effective use of a supply unit (e.g. platoon) carrying out a supply job for more subjects. Bringing proposed mathematical methods into SDM may contribute to deal with current deficiencies.

The need for interdependencies between different disciplines to address (theoretically and practically) the optimal solution to certain problems in various areas, based on these realities, has resulted, ever since the mid twentieth century, today being already advanced, at a macro level, the concept of "Hybrid Age" an equivalent to the fourth wave (in Toffler's language) in which human evolution turns into a man-technology co-evolution. So, "disciplinarity"-based concepts (trans, multi, inter) acquire complex meanings, completing initial area meanings, all these with the purpose of searching for new sources of organizational performance.The article investigates the issue of organizations' material resources approach (role and importance) in terms of principles and methodologies that are specific to a relatively young science, Logistics, with a specific management claimed to be solved by both economists and engineers. In the same note, in agreement with the theme of this conference, we also lay emphasis on the fact that there are discussions in Logistics literature regarding the civil-military inter-conditioning type, with significant results in the improvement of best practices in the field of logistics activities’ outsourcing.

The success of any military alliances or coalitions in operations depends on the degree of cooperation that goes beyond a "division of labor." It requires the development and implementation of common doctrine, training, and the ability to operate smoothly as a combined, integrated force, similarly to the way in which military services from some developed countries operate jointly today. In order to reach the end state of any operation, a proper logistic approach is needed. It is known that, generally, logistics consists of several complementary functions that must be integrated to support military operations. Because NATO principles and policies for logistics establish the principle of the collective responsibility of nations and NATO authorities for logistic support of NATO’s multinational operations, multinational logistics could be the desired key to success.

Generating benefits through life cycle logistics of the major military equipment (LCLMME) involves the approach in terms of program management, systems engineering, supportability analysis, integrated logistic support elements, logistics engineering and reliability, availability, maintainability, testability, predictability and diagnosticability for the interoperability and optimal cost of major military equipment.As a challenge of the Romanian DoD strategic vision, DoD decision makers must integrate acquisition and logistics into a general capabilities framework in order to ensure a superior support process for the major military equipment by focusing on affordable system operational effectiveness as a key design and performance factor and emphasizing total product life cycle logistics considerations in the systems engineering process.During the process of defence acquisition management, LCLMME should be the framework of a scientific approach leading to the verified and validated decisions, which can contribute to a strategic guidance that will lead to faster implemented and more efficient logistical support, at higher quality and optimal cost.

Knowledge integration challenges and critical success factors within construction traditional procurement system

The purpose of this study is to explore and identify the challenges and Critical Success Factors (CSFs) of Knowledge Integration (KI) in terms of capturing, sharing and transferring knowledge within construction projects based on the Traditional Procurement System (TPS). On the basis of available studies on KI and TPS within the industry investigated, multiple case studies were developed to reach the aforementioned objective, involving two case studies to reflect the building sector within construction industry. Furthermore, an Interpretive Structural Modelling (ISM) approach was used to summarize and identify the relationships between the identified challenges. ‘Culture of Organization, ‘Contractual Boundaries’ and ‘Knowledge Management System’ (policies and strategies of organization) are identified as the main challenges. Having an ‘open environment’ and ‘clear liability of project members for sharing knowledge at different phases of project’ are two of identified CSFs, which will assist project managers to enhance the KI process within construction projects undertaken through the TPS.

BICYCLE USAGE IN THE URBAN TRANSPORTATION: PRISTINA EXAMPLE

The aim of the research is to provide suggestions for increasing the use of bicycles, which are part of the modern transportation policies. The methodology in the research was developed according to the physical characteristics of the city center in Pristina and the new regulations of the Pristina Development Plan. In this context, in the questionnaires, the approach, demand and application possibilities of the passengers against the other transportation systems (except private vehicles) were evaluated. The field research questions were asked to get the thoughts of public transport passengers about these issues. The responses of 782 passengers that are directly or indirectly related with bicycle usage.As a result of these recommendations, Pristina will have two-way bicycle lanes with a length of 16 km to complete the cycling network. In this context, it was emphasized that the suggestions for the urban bicycle network in Pristina were evaluated in order of priority.Recommendations are given in accordance with the infrastructure of the route and it is expected that a regular transportation type will be provided to the urban transportation of Pristina by carrying out the arrangements on a 16 m wide road between the two sidewalks (platforms). In the new regulations, a two-way 4 km bike lane is proposed in the central ring of Pristina, as a result of the bicycle lanes that will form the bicycle network in Pristina to implement the bicycle public transport integration strategy in the future. Approximately 8.5 km two-way bicycle lane in central ring, 1.5 km two-way bicycle lane in the southwestern region and 2km bicycle lane in the southeastern region has been proposed for Pristina.

Understanding Relationships between Charter Rates and Ship Building Prices in Liquefied Natural Gas Shipping Markets

There would be rise in LNG shipping business with USA and Australia looking to boosts exports with promising new tonnages from the year 2018. The shipping Charter rates have seen great rise in 2011 but recently have dropping low due increase in supply of ships and limited growth in cargo. The order book of LNG is looking promising there is a need to understand the volatility of LNG charter rates and New Shipbuilding prices as huge capital investment is made in ordering these vessels. The paper analyses asymmetric relationship between New Shipbuilding prices and Short Term Charter rates of LNG shipping using VECM-EGARCH model. The results show existence of long term relationship between new shipbuilding prices and Short term charter rates.

Security Management in Urban Logistics Using a Tram Driving Simulator in MPK Łódź

The safety of public transport in urban logistics is increased in many ways. In order to improve safety, Miejskie Przedsiębiorstwo Komunikacji in Łódź purchased tramway simulators that will be used for training. They are used in various fields, have many advantages, and depending on the needs are constructed at the level of different classes. On the basis of the research, two simulators purchased by MPK in Łódź were analyzed in terms of their operation and function. In addition, groups of tram drivers were identified, who should first training on simulators. In the last part, the intersections that have the most incidents by trams are identified.

Quality Assessment and Passenger Satisfaction from Public Transport Services in Radom

The following document shows the results of the survey research carried out on the inhabitants of Radom. The entire analysis concerned the observed satisfaction of public transport services in this city. As a result of the conducted research, there was a model created with the purpose of identifying the factors influencing the satisfaction from the public transport which include adjusting public transport to the needs of the disabled, the features of the public transport (ticket price, frequency of the shuttling, punctuality of the arrivals, accessibility of the bus stops, time of the ride) as well as the course of the bus communication line. The results of the conducted analysis suggest that the attitudes towards the public transport differ in the particular groups of passengers. The presented data indicate that the level of satisfaction from the public transport decreases with age. The observed satisfaction from the public transport also differs depending on the respondents’ sex. The conducted analysis proves that women tend to assess the quality of the public transport services more negatively than men. It points to the need of the improvement of the quality of the provided public transport services with particular reference to these social groups.The following research adds the theoretical knowledge in the area of the quality of the public transport services as well as presents the way of shaping transport services with particular reference to the role of demographic factors on the perceiving the quality of services.

Instrumental methods have been used for best characterization of the basic consumer properties of cardboards according to their function in packaging production. The research carried out proves the feasibility of the different combinations of cardboard tested with different flutes for use in the manufacture of packaging for lightweight industrial goods.

In such cases application of causality test ‘conditio sine qua non’ leads to the result that if it is not possible to determine some liable persons unambiguously, damages bears the damaged person. Such a conclusion is not in accordance with the conception of the heightened level of legal protection of damaged persons in cases of strict liability, which is also liability for damages caused by operation of means of transport. Areas and means of Formation of Transport Regional Complexes and Mechanisms for Managing Their Competitiveness in Ukraine

The entry of Ukraine into the European Union significantly expands the boundaries of cooperation with different countries of the world. Compliance with the European requirements in the marketing sector will greatly increase the efficiency of its operation in the regions of Ukraine. The method of estimating the development of social infrastructure in the resource support of the management mechanism aimed at increasing the competitiveness of the transport system of the region by the integral indicator, which characterizes the level of social development of the region, is developed in the work. The integral indicator is defined as the sum of the ratios of the current and maximum partial indicators of population security by type of services in the region. The components of the process of social development assessment have been introduced: a limitation on the magnitude of each type of resource used to improve social development indicators; specific expenses of each type of resource in the region in support and improvement of the indicator of social development; the magnitude of the growth of the provision of the region for each indicator of social development; the function of the priorities of social development in the region for each indicator. It is believed that using the results of calculations using the proposed method will increase the validity of relevant management decisions.

Economic attributes of quality and competitiveness on the market of road freight transport services

Motivation: The basic quality attributes of transport services are safety and timely deliveries and are determined by the clients. Many studies on quality on the transportation markets concern the user perception or certified management systems. Improving service quality is related to organizational changes, involvement of human and capital resources. At the same time, it does not necessarily mean implementing ISO standards. Moreover, an analysis of the literature revealed an informational niche as regards the factors affecting the quality of services from the service providers’ perspective.Aim: The purpose of this article is to identify factors affecting the quality of services. The reference point of that analysis is the market supply and economic activities taken to improve service quality. In addition, an attempt was made to determine the relationship between quality and competitiveness. The analysis includes endogenous (actions taken by carriers and need of investing) and exogenous (regarding transport and economic policy) factors. Taking into consideration the economic aspect of improving service quality and carrier’s perspective the article aims at enrichment the information niche.Results: The results proved that the most important factors in creating quality of road freight services include, among others, educated staff, technical condition of vehicles and ensuring the safety of transportation processes. Unfair competition processes were identified as the factor with the strongest impact on competitiveness of road carriers. In addition, it was pointed about that there is strong and positive correlation between service quality and competitiveness.
