Optimization of Transport Processes in the Crossdocking Terminal Using Simulation Technology – Case Study

The paper presents the progress and results of the project, which was performed for a cross-docking terminal. The goal of the project is to verify designed concepts of warehouse space organization in cross-docking terminal. Expected results of new space organization (layout) is the improvement of loading and unloading processes, reduction of total distance traveled by company internal transport vehicles, which directly affects financial results of the company. The project consists of creating the eight concepts models. First model presents the original, previous situation in terminal. The other seven different conceptual models show designed concepts of pallet places locations in storage area. Comparison of data collected in simulation models allows determining which concepts are solution to company problems and select the best of them.

Further shown examples of actual and could potentially occur threats and problems in the TSL (transportation-forwarding-logistics) sector to identify causes and consequences of disruptions in the flow of goods and information. Finally, the possibilities of dealing with disruptions in the supply chain of transportation-forwarding-logistics firms were indicated.

Wspomaganie weryfikacji przepływu produkcji w warunkach ograniczeń produkcyjnych poprzez integrację systemów ERP z systemami symulacyjnymi

The ERP and discrete-event simulation systems integration based on data-driven automatic models generation method are presented. The proposed method is also based on a data-driven approach method to automatic generation of models for simulation systems. Due to elimination of the disadvantages associated with cost and time-consuming process of building the simulation models, the proposed method can become an efficient and effective tool to support the planning and verification of the production flow subject to manufacturing and logistics constraints. Developed IT solution allows, among others, to conduct rapid analysis with regard to available quantity and the capacity of transport means, timetable, and the location and capacity of the storage system. Due to the use of the intermediate data model the integration module can be commercialized with practically any ERP or simulation system as well.

Zastosowanie sterowania feedback-feedforward i predyktora Smitha do optymalizacji przepływu towarów w magazynie ze zmiennym w czasie opóźnieniem

The paper proposes the use of the automatic control system to control the system for supplementary orders for the warehouse in the presence of time-varying market demand and time-varying delay. A discrete-time, time-varying dynamic model of the ware-house system is assumed for the analysis. For the given model it is proposed a feedback-feedforward control system with the Smith predictor. The settings of the control system are evaluated by minimizing cost function using particle swarm optimization. The work contains the results of calculations and computer simulations for the assumed scenario for the market demand.

Analiza zasad korzystania ze stref płatnego parkowania jako elementu logistyki miejskiej dla wybranych grup użytkowników w największych miastach Polski

The crowd of cities’ centres with vehicles causes the necessity of limitations in accessibility to them. The control of accessibility to paid parking zones as well as the coercion of vehicles’ rotation are an important element of balanced development of transportation in cities. Transport policies of cities assume the reduction of fumes, noise and motor difficulty as well as the introduction of zones of limited movement of vehicles. To end this one has presumed: limitation of accessibility of car parks in centres of cities, limitation of entrance, building of Park and Ride car parks and payment for parking in zones. The assumption mentioned above were formulated many years ago, but in principle none of presented means has not been fully realized or it does not fulfil its aim. The purpose of the article is presenting of the rules of functioning and analysis of using paid parking zones for drivers who - considering their status - have been awarded by some preferences. The investigations were conducted by method of case study, analyses of data, documents and legal deeds concerning the functioning of zones in chosen cities. There have been described results of functioning paid parking zones of 7 the largest cities in Poland: Warszawa, Kraków, Łódź, Gdańsk, Wroclaw, Katowice and Poznań. The executed analysis showed, that in spite of the same product which is a parking place, the approach of different cities to the principles of organization and zones’ division are different, and ways of defining the users entitled to preferential using of paid parking zones, rules and payment for parking are various, too.

The financial liquidity is one of the main factors, which decide about the existence of companies on the market. The article presents selected models of factors shaping the financial liquidity of the companies. The strength and the direction of the impact of these factors on the financial liquidity level of the companies of transport and storage section (section H) in Poland were also examined. The deterministic method (differentiation) was used in order to accomplish this task. The differentiation method allowed determining that in the years 2006-2014, it was the time structure of debt that had the strongest influence on the financial liquidity of the companies of transport and storage section.

The article presents suggestions of solving one of the major problems of modern logistics which is optimisation of supply volume based on reduction of supply costs. The case study concerns weekly supply of roughening material used for winter maintenance of a motorway part. Due to the physical-chemical qualities of the material and the supply possibilities orders are completed with the application of the single-stage (single, one-stage) of supply controlling. The suggested solutions with the application of the marginal analysis should lead to a significant reduction in costs of creating and maintaining stocks of these materials, as well as avoid high losses of logistical processes malfunction.

Zastosowanie teorii gier do rozwiązywania problemów decyzyjnych w wirtualnych sieciach wytwarzania

The requirements of customers, products aging and other factors cause that production planning processes are needed. The use of virtual production nets is an opportunity for producers. The approach and procedures taken from the game theory were used in realizing specific tasks of production processes planning. The values of objective function which act as players at the workplace were calculated. The first player function is to minimize production costs, and the second is to minimize transport costs. The paper analyses one of the possible scenarios of the game in which these players move looking for an optimal decision. The results show that, in the case of value of payoffs, the mixed strategies are optimal.

Problemy stojące przed logistyką miejską w zakresie obsługi parkingowej pojazdów

The dynamic increase of number of vehicles moving on roads, caused by their larger accessibility, rise in level of inhabitants’ life, fashions as well as the growth of society expectations in range of comfort of life, makes new demands for municipal logistics and is the source of many problems. Problems relating to parking, especially in centers of big cities, belong to the group of the biggest of them. The reason of such state is first of all too tight buildings of cities, not taking into account the norms, which concern the number of car parks to the number of occupants either to office or commercial surface in new projects, the lack of cities’ plans of spatial management etc. The aim of the article is presenting the most important problems connected with location and functioning car parks in large cities, including Park and Ride car parks, and parking zones in their centres. The investigation have been based on the author’s observations as well as the analysis of scientific literature in this field. The list of the most important issues which should be considered making decisions in the range of municipal logistics and traffic engineering were received as the result.

Importance of reverse logistics services as an antecedent for building a green supply chain

An important antecedent for building a green supply chain are customer requirements. For the time being, however, it is unclear how the demands for providing reverse logistics services contribute to green supply chain building. The aim of the research was therefore to specify the degree of importance of reverse logistics services compared to typical services provided by the supplier during order fulfilment. Based on the survey of purchasing managers’ attitudes in 100 food companies, reverse logistics services were found to have a significant role in the portfolio of services evaluated. Return of defective goods was evaluated as the most important reverse logistics service. At the same time, it was found that the perception of the importance of the services provided is affected by the item purchased. Reverse logistics services are more important when purchasing chemicals than when purchasing the main raw material. Thus, primary research has shown that the greatest opportunity to build a green supply chain will arise when purchasing items that inherently show environmental hazards.

Supply chain management in the access economy environment

The paper focuses on the digital platform being the driving force of development of the access economy impacting on supply chain business model reconfiguration. First, the main accelerators of the sharing and access economies were described and compared with the characteristics of supply chain architecture. Then, different solutions of the platform business model impacting on supply chain reconfiguration are analysed. Next the results of a pilot study are presented to illustrate how supply chain managers understand the role of digital technologies and platforms. The paper is based mainly on a literature review and partially on the results of a pilot study conducted at the end of 2018 among 120 supply chain managers using the CATI methodology. Digital platforms can be used to improve supply chain competitiveness in several ways – starting from access to logistics services using the outsourcing model, through the additional solution of the supply chain business model portfolio widening the range of distribution channels, up to the digital supply chain solution being a platform connecting the whole ecosystem of supply chain stakeholders. The paper has a conceptual character, and the proposed solutions are still at the early stage of implementation in practice. Therefore, the undertaken topic should be a subject of further studies.

The purpose of the study was defined as to examine the efforts to start İstanbul - Bucharest commercial airline transportation in the Republic period. In this respect, it was tried to reveal the competition among the companies for the establishment of the line, French Compagnie Franco-Roumaine de Navigation Aérienne-CFRNA’s efforts for obtaining a concession in this rivalry, and firm stance of the Turkish government against the concession demand of the company and the reasons of this.The Ottoman government signed a contract for the concession of İstanbul-Bucharest line with the CFRNA on 11 September 1920. However, the company faced with the risk of losing the concessions from the year of 1923. As a result, new contract was signed between the Compagnie Internationale de Navigation Aérienne-CIDNA which was the changed name of the CFRNA and the Turkish government with reference to İstanbul-Bucharest air travel and transfer of posts on 17 August 1925.

The research paper considers the issues of ensuring effective management of the processes of transformation of fare systems in public transport. Were analyzed the prospects for implementation of automated fare control systems and also the theoretical and methodological approaches to the formation of existing automated fare systems, which could determine the perspective of implementation of such systems in the domestic market of transport services provision, that can solve a number of problems related with fare simplicity and comfort, formation of a flexible fare system, use of various forms of payment, as well as monitoring and control of money revenues, including for transportation of preferential contingent. The analysis determined the cost-effectiveness of existing automated fare systems. Were predicted ways to improve the cost-effectiveness of existing automated fare systems through econometric modelling. The introduction of proposals after obtaining of simulation results will identify the potential economic impact and ways to optimize management processes. An analysis of the legal and regulatory framework for the formation and use of automated fare systems concluded that there was insufficient legislative support for the autonomy of management decisions on local public transport systems, in particular under the conditions of the reform of decentralization of power and the formation of integrated territorial communities. Have been developed proposals to improve the legal and regulatory framework for the automation of the management of fare systems in public transport. The analysis identified socio-economic aspects of the introduction of new approaches to the management of automated fare systems. Was developed an economic and mathematical model to manage automated fare systems in accordance with the conditions of the modern market and socio-economic challenges.

IMPACT OF PARKING FEES ON SOCIAL BENEFITS BASED ON THE EMERGENCE OF SHARED PARKING

Shared parking, complementary to public parking, effectively alleviates the problem of parking difficulties in city. Shared parking spaces could reduce the difficulty of parking, which will potentially trigger the increasing of vehicles traveling, resulting in congestion, pollution and other negative externalities. In the view of environmental performance, exhaust emissions from road traffic, mainly cars, are the main reason of pollution. The rising prices of parking space, which may decrease vehicle travelling, could be an effective policy to reduce automobile travel, encourage public transport then reduce the impact of traffic on urban environment. Different from the discussion of shared parking itself, this study constructs an idealized model by discrete choice to find the relationship between the social benefits of city and public parking fees. Through the instance analysis, this paper analyzes the impact of government pricing on public parking spaces on a certain city problem including giving priority to alleviating traffic congestion, increasing fiscal revenue, reducing exhaust emissions and mitigate air pollution or the goal of comprehensive development. Increasing parking fees will result in an increase in overall income including parking fees and bus fares. And with the increasing of parking fees, more people will transfer to public transport, which will ease congestion and reduce traffic emission. To achieve the maximum social benefits, the urban public agents should develop an optimal public parking prices within a certain range.
