Korpusowe narzędzia weryfikacji frazeostylistycznej tłumaczeń
Phraseological prefabrication can be defined as the tendency for native speakers to select recurrent word combinations, constructions and formulaic sequences to convey familiar meanings and achieve conventional discourse functions. Since such formulaicity is an essential aspect of fluency and intelligibility of naturally-occurring language, a good command of target language phraseology is also a prerequisite of successful translation. This paper provides an overview of selected corpus-based tools and resources which can be used to validate the idiomaticity of translations. In addition to discussing the role of large monitor and reference and parallel corpora and online collocation databases, the paper introduces a new tool called Treelets which enables extraction of combinatorial dictionaries from dependency-parsed corpora. This feature proves useful in enhancing translators’ phraseological competence.
