The cultural heritage of Jews in Zenica is manifested through both, material and non-material aspect. Although Jews represent an indigenous community in Bosnia and Herzegovina even since the 16th century, they began to settle in Zenica more intensely with the arrival of Austro-Hungarian monarchy, in 1878. Despite the fact that Jews accounted only a small percentage of the population in Zenica, their contribution to economic and especially to the cultural development of the city was enormous. In a relatively short period of about 60 years, during which they have been actively involved in organizing the everyday life of the city, Jews left a strong imprint to the identity of the city. The memory of the once prominent and active community stays registered through material and non-material inheritance as a symbol of not only Jews but of the entire city of Zenica

DOPRINOS DIGITALIZACIJE ISTRAŽIVANJU LOKALNE HISTORIJE (PRIMJER ZENICE)

The work describes the importance of the process of digitization of archival documents and older historic literature, for the research of local history on the example of Zenica. In the first part of the work, the author brings his own experience which he collected by establishing successful cooperation with world renown archival institutions, National Archive in Dubrovnik, Vatican Secret Archives and Basbakanlik Ottoman Archive in Istanbul. The author gives examples which show us that different institutions have different systems of work with digitized archival documents. In the second part of the work, the author presents concrete scientific insights in the field of local history research which are the product of cooperation with archival institutions, where we can see all the advantages of the process of digitization for the modern scientific research. At the end of the work, the author gives his opinion about how is the process of digitization going to lead to even more simple process of scientific research in the field of history, while at the same time warns that the researcher is going to have to expand his own knowledge accordingly in this process

Medieval knighthood was not a homogeneous group; we encounter here ordinary knights and affluent magnates. The aim of the article is to study, in light of the 10th- to 14th-century narrative sources from Central Europe, how knights, both the rich and the less wealthy, spent time, what activities they engaged in, what their customs and guiding principles were, and if there existed any differences among countries. In chronicles, we often find descriptions of rulers-knights portrayed as perfect commanders, although we also come across accounts of failed expeditions. Over centuries, the ideal of a prince-commander has changed. Knights are portrayed as noble and valiant, however, deceit as one of the ways of fighting occurs more and more often, and so does treachery. It should be emphasized that the picture emerging from an analysis of the chronicles departs from the frequently idealized view of a medieval commander/knight retained in general conscience, oftentimes contrarily to the intentions of the chroniclers. Then, what was the code of a knight/ruler in light of the narrative sources? A knight should be courageous, loyal to the lord/commander and obedient. He could seek revenge upon his enemy, but it was perceived worse if he used a stratagem unless it served a good cause. A knight should not however, disgrace himself with betrayal, which could be redeemed only by heroic death.

The article presents portrayals of conduct at variance with the chivalric ethos, which are found in the oldest narrative sources that were produced in Poland, namely PolishChronicle recorded by Gallus Anonymous in the early 12th century, the chronicle authoredby the Bishop of Kraków Master Vincentius in the early 13th century and Kronikawielkopolska (The Chronicle of Greater Poland) from the late 13th or early 14thcentury, the authorship of which has not been generally accepted yet. The author of thearticle performs an analysis of anti-knightly behavior, separately with regard to foreign enemyand domestic rulers. She shows under what circumstances the chroniclers used examplesof contemptible conduct, which was detrimental to the conventional perceptionof magnates at that time. Presenting the chroniclers’ interpretation, she also points to thecontext in which they mentioned those anti-standards of behavior. She argues that therhetoric and style used by medieval chroniclers in the creation of characters had didacticsignificance.

The central analysis of "Monastyr: Fabularna Gra Dark Fantasy" TRPG is on the history of gaming systems. Throughout gaming system history, role playing has served as an important backdrop for the actions of the characters.which constitute indispensable elements for the lives of the characters and their sources of power. Without knowledge and awareness of history, human beings can lose their identities or fall victims to exploitation. However, with knowledge in history, humanity can fight against deprivation and nothingness. But this knowledge is not without its contradictions— history can also be a burden, a challenge and even a source of conflict. The notable point of Aleksandra’s Mochocka chapter is that history must never be forgotten, “whitewashed” or outright erased. Whether nations or fctions of people, if any commit an atrocity against humanity, it is the historical record or even the victims’ knowledge that will never allow the perpetrators to escape the consequences of their actions. The embedded history in the framework of Monastyr evokes these feelings and perceptions for the player provoking, what Mary Flanagan coined as, “critical play” during the playing sessions. All of these elements make Monastyr an extremely unique experience in role playing gaming. Although this game was not intenteded to be a purveyor of historical knowledge, it does raise much awareness for the players as to the role of humanity throughout history as well as other potential historical and critical issues.

If we follow the lyrical alter ego who intones the above sentences penned for him by the real despot Muammar al-Gaddafi, then despots are a political species, defenseless, persecuted, and threatened in their existence.What is more, in the story “Escape to Hell” which begins with the passage just quoted, it is never once mentioned what is so “shameful” about the tyranny of an individual. Tyrants are not tyrants at all there: they are innocent,and they do not oppress others; they are the oppressed ones.

Dok sam poslednjih nekoliko godina istraživala, pokušavajući da spojim delove onog što bi se moglo nazvati »fragmenti ratničkog diskursa« u Zapadnoj kulturi, slučajno sam naišla na sledeću gnostičku zagonetku: »Dokle će muškarci ratovati? - Sve dok žene imaju decu«. Na prvi pogled odgovor podseća na parafraze onih uobičajenih zagonetki iz detinjstva koje bi se mogle nazvati »Zauvek«, (npr. »Dok okean ne presuši«), ili na •Šekspirovog Magbeta (»Dok Birnamska šuma ne počne da se kreće/ Na njega i ne dođe na brdo Dansinejsko«). Međutim, pri bližem ispitivanju - ili bolje reći, posle daljeg čitanja tokom kojeg sam bezbroj puta naišla na analogiju između ratovanja i rađanja dece - učinilo mi se da ova stara zagonetka zahteva uzročno-posledičnu interpretaciju: »Ako bi žene samo prestale da rađaju, muškarci bi prestali da ratuju«. Ovo bi, naravno, moglo da bude truizam, jer ako žene prestanu da rađaju očigledno ne bi bilo muškaraca koji bi mogli da ratuju. U obrnutom smeru, ova bi tvrdnja mogla da podrazumeva - i to je implikacija koja se istražuje u ovom tekstu - da muškarci ratuju zato što žene rađaju. Prvo ću pomenuti nekoliko mitskih i istorijskih arhetipova koji uključuju teme herojstva i neporočnosti, hrabrosti i čednosti, a potom ću analizirati upadljivu ekvivalentnost izmedu materinstva i ratovanja.

The color of wine has crucial importance in relation to the quality of wine. Laboratory parameters of color are supervised by the International Organisation of Vine and Wine (OIV), and is intensity I and tonality T. It is also found that the subjective visual impression of the consumer is an important in the first step in his purchase. Consumer research survey, conducted in Australia in 2005–2007 on the 1643 wines, shows that red wines with greater color intensity are characterized by a higher class market. Color of the wine depends on many factors: the variety of grape, their ripeness, the winemaking processes, and age of wine. In the case of red wine, its color is given by anthocyanins, whose chemical properties are presented: their copigmanted complexes, also uncoloured cofactors capable to specific interactions and color changes in the environment of varying acidity of wine. That phenomenons are independent on time and were presented in ancient Greek wine like also all users of wine today, which is directly bind with tradition. Maybe the most different is mode and necessity of wines description. Knowledge about the nuances of color tonality, perception of wine and its origin is part of the oenological visual organoleptic analysis. The color perception is subjective and individual, and depends directly on the light conditions, but also of education, cultural background, experience, emotional state. Analysis of visual color of the wine contains the skills of perception, discernment and naming. These abilities can be educated and improved through education.

Detabuizacja historii w przestrzeni muzeum lokalnego

The aim of this article is to discuss the activities related to exhibitions, research, and education of the „Centre of Documentation of Upper Silesians Deportation to the Soviet Union in 1945”. This local museum is an institution focused on filling the “blank spots” in historiography, retrieving the knowledge about the past, and breaking the taboo which has led to the state of collective oblivion under the influence of strong ideologisation of the knowledge about the past taking place in the time of the Polish People’s Republic. The activity of the institution is oriented at the processes of retrieving the memory that so far has functioned only in communication – that is, in private and unofficial – messages; it aims at retrieving this memory and transforming it into a collective, cultural one. The article endeavours to answer the questions concerning the very tabooed history and the cultural contexts of detabooisation that is performed by means of particular communicational strategies characteristic of contemporary museum activity.
