ПРЕПОТВЪРЖДАВАНЕ И ПРЕОСМИСЛЯНЕ НА САКРАЛНОТО ПРОСТРАНСТВО: ПОТОПЕНИТЕ ЦЪРКВИ НА С. ЗАПАЛНЯ И С. ВИДЕН

The paper is going to present two equal in their base cases of effacement of a sacral site but with distinct differences, observed in their present development, status and usage. These are the church of the former 162 village of Zapalnya “St. John of Rila”, submerged by the waters of Zhrebchevo dam in the 1960s, and the church of Viden village “St. Athanasius”, flooded after the construction of Koprinka dam. Nowadays the remains of both “submerged” church buildings are on the surface – visible experienced in a new way. The analysis is based on field and bibliographic research conducted in 2019 within the project “Submerged Heritage. A Village on the Lake’s Bottom: Migrations, Memory, Cultural Practices” (NSF, 2018–2021).

Numerous reforms and breakthroughs, which were truly felt in the coming centuries, marked Maria Theresa's rule. The Cordon Sanitaire, same as Bjelovar, became – thanks to numerous reforms – better organized after her coming to the throne in 1740. The basis for the most prominent among these reforms was the 1770 General Healthcare Book of Rules (Opći zdravstveni pravilnik). Bjelovar was founded as one of the responses to the reorganization of the Military Border, whereas the Cordon Sanitaire was initially established as response to repeated occurrences of the plague in the Habsburg territory, since this situation needed a solution. Unlike Bjelovar, the Cordon Sanitaire ceased to exist after the demilitarization of the Military Border. Nevertheless, its existence and development, same as Bjelovar's, remains one of the symbols of the reorganization of the Military Border and the 18th century in general.

Daily Life during Bărăgan Deportation: Time of Chores and Space of Fear

The everyday life of the deportees was orchestrated by the authorities through work, education and leisure and through intrusion in their family life. Under constant surveillance, people submitted themselves to the demands and executed the chores established by the regime. However, from the very beginning they struggled to preserve their agency. This article, based on the memories of former deportees, underlines their capacity to resist repression, to overcome the social constraints and to create social groups parallel to the official ones.

La vie quotidienne avant et après 1989 entre résistance et adaptation: l’exemple de la Vallée du Jiu (Roumanie)

Cet article analyse les rapports entre la domination politique de l’État roumain, pendant le socialisme et le post-socialisme, et les stratégies et tactiques de résistance et d’adaptation des gens ordinaires (common people) aux politiques étatistes. Cette relation dynamique sera observée à partir des réalités de la vallée du Jiu, l’une des régions les plus touchées par le projet de l’État, axé d’abord sur l’industrialisation accélérée et, ensuite, sur la désindustrialisation, également, accélérée, avec des répercussions majeures sur les relations sociales. En corroborant les entretiens et les récits de vie avec des articles de presse de l’époque, nous entendons comprendre le contrôle de la production et de la population par l’État, l’appropriation et l’aménagement du territoire, le licenciement de la main-d’œuvre lors de la transition du communisme au capitalisme, tout comme les répercussions de ces mesures étatistes sur la vie quotidienne des gens et la résilience de ces derniers à l’ordre politique.

Escaping the Everyday Life: Artists’ Holidays at 2 Mai and Vama Veche in the Communist Era

During communism, the villages of Vama Veche and 2 Mai became a mythological place for the cultural and artistic bohemian. Artists and intellectuals came there during the summer in order to work and relax in a space where the authorities chose to stay away (at least in a visible way). This indulged „freedom” transformed the area in a safe space for their daily interaction and activities, beyond borders and limitations. After the fall of communism, this area became a kind of „lieu de mémoire” revisited mostly in the imagination while invested with the aura of sacredness.

In the Shadow of the Heroes. Women’s Hardships of the Everyday Life During WWI in the Light of Memoirs

Has the First World War accelerated the emancipation of women? Are wars beneficial for women or do they reinforce women’s traditional, culturally accepted roles? Do women have their position in the heroic patriotic discourse? There is no clear answer to these questions. After all, the First World War, on the one hand, accelerated the process of women’s emancipation, but on the other hand, slowed it down or even blocked it. This article deals with several memoirs written by women about everyday life during the WWI emphasizing both the emancipation (through liberties brought by the war effort to organize hospitals etc.) and the relegation to old duties as caring for the family and wounded soldiers, working for the homeland.

Rizičnost visokoškolskoga glazbenog obrazovanja za zdravlje studenata i edukacija studenata glazbe o očuvanju zdravlja i prevenciji profesionalnih bolesti

The paper examines the risk of academic music education for the health of students, and the inclusion of adequate health education for music students in study programmes at music academies in the Republic of Croatia. Results of contemporary scientific research have shown that young musicians, included in specialized music education, begin as early as in their childhood suffering from physical and mental problems connected with performing music. These problems escalate at the beginning of their studies. Frequent occurrence of physical and mental problems among students and professional musicians shows that engaging in highly skilled music presents a risk in the context of the health of musicians-performers. The analysis of study programmes for musicians-performers conducted at music academies in Croatia (N = 51) has shown that there exist neither courses nor any consistence regarding the set study outcomes in other study programme courses, which cover health education. The academic education of future music professionals and pedagogues in Croatia includes no necessary courses either for the preservation of physical and mental health or for the prevention of professional illnesses. Expressed is the need for conducting empirical research of the presence of health problems and education of students regarding potential health risks, and ways to seek advice and help. Results of this research and the proposed empirical research among students of music might be helpful in connection with raising awareness of the importance of the health education of future professional musicians and music pedagogues. They might furthermore be of help in the context of the implementation of a systematic education aimed at the preservation of the physical and mental health of students of music academies.

ИДЕОЛОГИЈА ИЗБОРА У РОМАНУ "СЕОБЕ" МИЛОША ЦРЊАНСКОГ

When in the novel Migration by Miloš Crnjanski the idea of the Serbian choice is articulated in one unfinished, interrupted sentence – „You Serbs prefer to choose military work, so ...” (Crnjanski 2008: 25) – an example of this articulation ironically marks the historical role of the nation. it is not possible to make a choice within the socio-political system of the Austrian monarchy that would stabilize the position of the community in the empire, ensure it in an appropriate way. The incompleteness, the interruption of the sentence that formulates the perspective of the Serbian choice, indicates a strong narrative sense of the historical conditioning of identity. The political affirmation of the military identity of Serbs delegitimizes the heroic ethos that is the basis of the Serbian historical being. The ideological use of the Serbian warrior discourse indicates that a modern mechanism of identity regulation is active in the world of the novel Migration. The nation learns about the experience of ontological deprivation to be realized in the dimension of dying in war, which would provide it with historical and metaphysical meaning. Crnjanski’s novel reveals the fundamental difference between an ideologically constructed stereotype of identity and an ontological inversion of historical experience.

The article considers some modes of artistic performance as a reaction against the present technological determinism. This creative resistance has a kind of game-based, competitive element – “to outwit the system” – which is a form of play. This line emerges as a kind of sociological and aesthetic strategy in some new art movements, an artistic reflex in defense of the "right to remain invisible". Briefly: the article will trace how the observed person (homo vigilatus), playing (homo ludens), consolidates with a new discourse his role as a creator (homo creator).

Od krytyki do postkrytyki. Nowe możliwości interwencji społecznych literatury w „Limits of Critique” Rity Felski

The article discusses a groundbreaking post-critical project in Anglo-Saxon literary studies formulated in Rita Felski’s book The Limits of Critique. Tomasz Mizerkiewicz offers a comprehensive analysis of the “hermeneutics of suspicion” carried out by Felski, showing its numerous limitations. Felski argues that criticism – understood as an emotionally uninvolved reading of literature being part of the panoptic system of power that subjugates individuals – should be modified to embrace an affective quality and a new vision of the ontology of a literary work. Felski believes that thanks to Bruno Latour’s actor-network theory, it is possible to begin to perceive the literary work as a causative non-human actor. The work then avoids participating in the sterile dispute between the idea of the autonomy of art and radical pragmatism, which assumes the full dependence of the meanings of this work on the context. Theorized in new phenomenological analyses, literature demonstrates a capacity to exert influence. At the same time, it does not do anything by itself, but in cooperation with other important human and non-human actors (readers, schools, reading family customs and others). The type of critique described in The Limits of Critique becomes a conscious participant in the social interventions of literature consisting in the joint discovery of the possibility of the emergence of new types of connections, networks and communities. Thus, critique and literature contribute to the development of particularly effective varieties of aesthetic, economic and political agency.

The Podcast as a separate format has gradually become more and more popular in the Bulgarian National Radio network. This process was initiated back in 2019 when “BETAgames” became the first ever BNR podcast. The development of the podcasts in the BNR network went through different stages, each of which implemented different technical and consumer solutions. These technological solutions to a very large extent influenced and shaped the way the audience accepted the new format. The article studies these different stages with a strong accent on the implemented solutions and the feedback from the audience. In addition, the article includes some recommendations that would increase the popularity and the reach of the podcasts in the BNR framework, resulting in an even higher level of fulfilment of the statutory mission of the Bulgarian public service radio.

The monograph studies the business advertising in Bulgaria in the early twentieth century. More than 200 print adverts that are typical for the period have undergone detailed analysis. The German, Austrian and Swiss advertising theory and practise are also analysed, so that a comparison with the Bulgarian print advertising is made. The art critic’s read on the advertising communication makes up for a gap in the Bulgarian scientific field and is also useful for the specialists, as well as a wide range of readers, who are interested in visual communication.

The historical causes, genetic roots and status of elite privileges in Ancient Rome are examined. A significant part of the various economic privileges during the three main periods at that time – the Imperial period, the Roman Republic and the Roman Empire – have been distinguished and substantiated. A detailed classification of the types of royal, republican, imperial and class privileges of the elite during the indicated historical era is made. The most relevant conclusions about the role of privileges in ancient Roman society and their impact on its development are also drawn.
