TRADITIONS AND INNOVATIONS IN TEACHING WRITING SKILLS TO RUSSIAN STUDENTS

Despite the significance of the ability to write in the ET classes writing as a means of exploring and communicating ideas to achieve professional goals is the most ignored of the language skills. The article discusses how the application of genre-based pedagogy can transform the way ESP and EAP teachers teach written communication skills in Russia. It also suggests to structure writing curriculum around the genres of professional and academic communication. It describes a teaching strategy that systematically takes learners through the stages involved in training writing skills and enables them improve critical thinking through writing activities.

COMMUNICATIVE MINDSET OF MEDICAL STUDENTS AND ITS CORRECTION ON FOREIGN LANGUAGE CLASSES

The article deals with the empirical study of the medical students’ communicative mindset, its peculiarities and basic characteristics as well as its role in relation to the future interaction with patients; correction of the mindset on the foreign language classes, a subject from the special purposes cycle. The article analyses main viewpoints of the modern pedagogical scientists referring to the communicative mindsets, it reveals the importance of the physician’s communicative mindset for reaching positive treatment outcome. The author defines the necessity of positive communicative mindset and low communicative negativism for the productive interaction of a physician with a patient. The author describes the main characteristics of the communicative mindset of medical students, shows the structural components which must be corrected. The article contains the description of the instruments and diagnostic methods used for detecting the communicative mindset level in the surveyed medical students. According to the empirical study, conducted in 2008-2015 with the medical students, the author diagnosed low level of the communicative mindset of the medical students. Aimed at correction of the detected characteristics, the author provides her personal recommendations of introducing some components of the psychological-deontological training, aimed at correction of the students’ communicative mindset. The article contains description of the modules as well as theoretical grounding of the course; some types of drills are presented in the article. The article contains description of a practical English class with introduced psychological-deontological training drills, which were aimed at improving the characteristics of the future physicians; communicative mindset, the offered materials may be interesting for both high school teachers and administration personnel, and for the institutional psychologists

ВЗАИМОДЕЙСТВИЕ РАБОТОДАТЕЛЕЙ И ВУЗОВ НА СОВРЕМЕННОМ ЭТАПЕ РЕФОРМИРОВАНИЯ РОССИЙСКОГО ОБРАЗОВАНИЯ

This paper offers a critical review of the current situation in Russian higher education, focusing on the case of Public Relations. The author considers recent administrative reforms which have greatly affected the teaching process in universities. The paper concentrates on the ways in which Ministry of Higher Education and Science of Russia attempts to regulate university education through the setting up of National Education Methodological Unions whose aim is to elaborate National State Educational Standards. The latter are supposed to proceed from professional standards. At first the author reviews the Ministry of Higher Education of Russia introduction of greater regulatory structures in 2014 and comments on the National Education Committee Methodological guidelines for university courses. Secondly, the paper outlines the difficulties educators and practitioners are facing in the process of correlation of educational and professional standards. The paper demonstrates how the professional association’s attempts to regulate education contribute to public relations body of knowledge. The author argues the development of Russian public relations education needs to be considered in the context of the industry’s professionalization drive.

Dependence of the investment activities of a company on the degree of availability and reliability of the information is proved by the analysis of emerging markets’ data. Various studies show that the insufficient development of capital markets, stock markets, legislation on the enforcement mechanisms in the fields of innovations and engineering is able to reduce the incentives for companies to disclose their information. The ambiguous effect of information transparency on the investment activities determines the need for a deeper revision of this issue, putting a special emphasis on the methods of quantitative measurement of the level of disclosure.

EDUCATIONAL MIGRATION AND THE LABOUR MARKET

This paper focuses on the links between the educational migration and the labour market, in particular on the consequences of the educational migration connected with tertiary education on the labour market one of the academic city of Opole in Poland. The empirical analysis for this paper was conducted based on the results of empirical research conducted among quota selected group of 1075 students of all universities in Opole. The paper employs approach based on calculations of the multiplier effect. The results of this research and the estimations obtained during the data analysis prove that educational migration connected with higher education can affect the supply and demand on the local labour markets of academic cities.

COMMUNICATION SKILLS AS A COMPETITIVE ADVANTAGE OF SELLERS

The aim of our paper is to draw attention to the fact that the level of expertise and professional skills represents merely a basic prerequisite for success in managerial work. While the expertise and experience have their essential role, they are not enough to achieve excellent results. Based on this fact, we have carried out our research examining the relation between the level of social skills in selected agricultural managers and their position in the management hierarchy. The level of social skills was evaluated using Riggio’s Social Skills Inventory. Our results demonstrate that communication skills constitute one of the key advantages of the sellers.

FEMALE EDUCATION AND HOUSEHOLD PER CAPITA INCOME: EVIDENCE FROM 3D SURFACE MAPS

Women have been the crucial socio-economic sufferer, which is especially true for those women who live in the rural areas of Third-world developing countries. It has been established through extensive research that women represent the major percentage of poor on the global landscape. The answer why this has to be so is not very difficult. Gender biases, gender exploitation, low income, deprivation, violation of basic rights are all social ailments that female has to face in society. In this scenario, female education has significant role. With female education, poverty reduces and socio-economic status of the households improves. This paper investigates the critical linkage between female education and per capita income of households in a small village of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province of Pakistan. Computer Assisted Qualitative Data Analysis Software (CAQDAS) was used to develop three dimensional digital models of the female education and per capita income of the households. Based on the these models, three dimensional 3D surface maps were prepared for female education and per capita income for the whole village which revealed that parts of village with higher female education had higher per capita income compared to parts of village with low female education. The paper clearly addresses the significance of female education to improve socio-economic fabric of the rural society of Pakistan.

The accelerated development and mass-dissemination of new technologies have also changed the didactics’ patterns of higher education. This concerns especially engineers’ higher education with underlying significance of philosophy and humanities in the study programmes. Concerning methods the article presents on the base of ongoing projects the implementation of new didactic forms including ICT (e-learning) and its enlargement by the didactic in foreign language by using the CLIL method. As far the programmes and contents the article focuses on nanotechnology with the conception of technology assessment, technoscience and converging technologies which are at the same time the objective of didactics as well as research works on the point of junction between humanities and engineering sciences.

Tutoring metodą kształcenia filozoficznego w szkole średniej

Standards of teaching philosophy should not differ from standards accepted in teaching other subjects of general education in secondary school. It means that innovative teaching methods should also be used for the work with a learner in didactics of philosophy. Tutoring is one of the most important methods of teaching philosophy.It has also been used in the past during teaching philosophy in Poland. Presently, the most popular form is online tutoring. The article refers to the theory of multilevel education and discusses the assumptions of general teaching and learning based on a master–student relation. In addition, the article points to modern information technologies which provide us with new online educational tools and methods.

Logika chronologiczna i jej zastosowania w analizie niektórych rozumowań prawniczych

The article is devoted to chronological logic and its applications in the analysis of legal reasoning. In Part I of the paper, there is given that time plays an important role in statutory law, in language of the law and in legal language appear many time expressions, and formal logic provides tools to logical analysis of reasoning performed in everyday discourse and in various sciences, also in legal discourse and in legal sciences. There are presented also conditions that temporal systems should satisfy to be used in an analysis of legal reasoning. In Part II of the paper, the origins and the profile of chronological logic are presented. Part III, the last part of the article, presents examples of formalization of some sentences of legal language containing at the time phrase, and of legal reasoning composed of such sentences,by means of symbols occurring in chronological logic. The position presented in the article says that some temporal logic could be used in a logical analysis such legal reasoning that would contain references to time. The main task of chronological logic would be then providing formal language to more precise express statements of legal language containing given time expression (exactly at the time phrase) and to model legal reasoning containing such expression; and also giving tools to evaluate formal correctness of these inferences.

Kim są uczestnicy Buberowskiego dialogu?

This article tries to explain the meaning of „I” and „Thou” as categories essential for Martin Buber’s philosophy of dialogue. I consider these categories in a context of human’s origin and interpersonal existence. Buber’s statement of ‘dialogity’ as a specific quality of human existence has, first of all, descriptive status, and then – indirectly and secondarily – prescriptive one. I take special notice of a transcendent position of Thou towards I and distance between them. I also take under consideration „nominal” matter of I and Thou, which decides on one’s individuality and their ability to listen and answer. The result of I and Thou meeting is recognizing in I a fellow-man towards Thou. Being I and being Thou can be identified only if they are able to cross immanent cultural sphere. This is because addressing I by Thou had its beginning in transcendentalism of divine Thou and can not be interpreted in immanent context of culture as autonomous cultural area.

Czy filozofia Martina Heideggera jest „antynaturalistyczna”?

The article aims at showing that reffering to philosophy of Martin Heidegger as „non-naturalistic” is inaccurate, because it attempts to describe Heidegger’s thought in terms, which Heidegger has redefined or rejected. In the article I argue that Heidegger did not belittle the problem of body, life and animality, and that his discussion of these issues should be seen in the context of his critique of the ontic perspective and the assumption of the unity of being.

Maska i myśl.

At the end of the 20th century, after a few decades of oblivion, the thought of George Santayana (1863–1952), a major figure of the so-called Golden Age of American Philosophy, reappeared as subject of academic interest. It is believed that Santayana’s originality within the intellectual milieu of the dominant at that time in anglo-saxon context pragmatist and analytical thought contributed to this delayed reception. This text, being part of a broader project, looks at the concept of „the self” emerging from Santayana’s work, with particular emphasis on its temporal intricacies. Interpretative movement, which according to my thesis is a requirement posited by life itself, provides for subjective unity and is expressed by the recurrent term of „mask” as a trace of human existence. The idea of playing out one’s facticity implies the question „how?”, which in turn justifies the use of an aesthetic concept of „grace”which may be linked with the idea of authentic existence. The juxtaposition with elements of Heidegger’s philosophy, which is a novelty in research, throws some light on Santayana’s fascination with German thinker and allows to highlight the hermeneutic-existential side of his thought, which has been underestimated by scholarship so far.

Od metafizyki do empirii.

This essay focuses on three conceptions of man formulated within the German school of philosophical anthropology. I discuss, one by one, theories by Max Scheler, Helmuth Plessner and Arnold Gehlen. First, I emphasize the common to these theoreticians methodological assumptions consisting primarily in an opposition against the Cartesian dualism and in founding a ground for philosophical analysis in the results of scientific research. Second, I present their conceptions of man stressing at the same time dissimilarities that differ them from each other. These differences concern first and foremost their general orientation: while Scheler’s understanding of man is clearly determined by a metaphysical idea of a permanent essence of man, Plessner’s conception focuses rather on a dynamic, historical way of manifesting of their existence. Philosophy by Gehlen in turn presents a picture of man as a biological being who by their own effort, by emerging institutional reality, stabilizes their existence.

The parallel trade of pharmaceutical products are products imported into one Member State of the European Economic Area (EEA) from another and placed on the market in the destination Member State, outside the manufacturer’s or its licensed distributor’s formal channels. This activity has been a legal in Republic of Poland after the European Union accession. The parallel trade can reduce the price of pharmaceuticals products by introducing competition into market. This article aims to outline the 10 years of experience with parallel trade of pharmaceuticals products in Republic of Poland. It presents the Polish market development based on selected a few indicators.
