Migrants should not be detained without legitimate reasons or forcefully send back to their home country. States must take responsibility for and fulfill these responsibilities meticulously for refugees, asylum seekers and immigrants to be able to rebuild their lives safely against serious dangers. Because the members of the state that lost the war or a society that was tried to be subjected to genocide had to take shelter in another state in the hope of surviving and being safe.

- Summary/Abstract:Human rights are the main sources of refugee rights as refugee rights are born because of human rights violations. To be more specific, refugee flows happen because of human rights violations. In the beginning the violations start in the country of origin; people leave their country because of human rights violations and they become refugees. Then most of the times same or another kind of violations continue during the “journey” to third party countries where the refugees try to apply for asylum. Finally, when the refugees arrive to third countries, they have to wait under different temporary status, and not always the best status for human rights, based on the migration law of third countries. In other words, the human rights of refugees are violated gradually between their country of origin and the asylum country. However; as it is mentioned by UN Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) the refugees’ rights should be respected prior to, during and after the process of seeking asylum.

- Summary/Abstract:The mobilization of people has been attracting attention in the media and policy circles as a major development that is affecting the conduct of international politics. A number of national institutions and international agencies are focusing on the issues the mobilized people are facing in an attempt to address their needs, as well as to avert any potential security or humanitarian threats associated with the huge wave of mobilization. People who leave their original homes or places of settlement are motivated by different factors, including building a brighter economic future for themselves and for their household, escaping persecution, finding a safe place after experiencing bloodshed in a civil war or seeking refuge due to fear of life-threatening conditions. In the vast majority cases of the mobilization of the people, a certain degree of distress is observable. Only a very small portion of the people who leave their homelands do not experience any sort of repression or security threat. Therefore, it will be safe to argue that the emerging wave of mobilization as one of the new facts of international politics is at least partially due to the instability and insecurity in the international political order which has been traditionally concerned with the survival and protection of the state and its interest, thus often disregarding the betterment of the ordinary people.

As a part of the ‘Refugee Crisis in International Policy’, it is needed to explain the main and mostly accepted definitions of migration literature. Thus, the book project can be more comprehensive with a conceptual framework.

The Syrian war and persistent terrorist movements and political disorder in the Middle East regions have increased forced migration rate.Immigrants and refugees have created serious economic, security and demographic problems for countries that open their borders to them. Determining the refugee status through internal regulations in every state has caused serious status problems. The refugee crisis in Europe has determined that a single definition of status should be made under international law and the conditions required for status should be connected to a single level system and become valid for all states.

- Summary/Abstract:In this chapter, I will discuss the role of the narratives of refugees and migrants in constructing their identity and subjectivity. My methodology involves discussing the role of the narrative which allows construction of the migrant’s identity in the limbo and on the threshold. The interviewer’s role will be discussed in terms of how it affects the telling of the story and in making migrants' voices heard in the country where they arrived. This work seeks to discuss the role of the narrative of refugees and migrants as discourse practices which depicts a discursive place for the construction of the identity in the limbo and on the threshold. The refugees’ narratives provide an opportunity to discuss the identity construction of refugees in the foreignness and within the strangeness. According to Hannah Arendt, narratives of the stateless people serves as a tool to construct a worldliness, to be seen and to be heard.

- Summary/Abstract:From the very onset of the forced displacement engendered by the war in Syria, the neighbouring countries, namely Lebanon, Jordan, and Turkey (LJT), opened their doors to the Syrian refugees. However, after mid-2013, incessant mass-influxes of refugees compelled governments of Lebanon and Jordan to shift their initial open-door policy and impose some restrictive measures on refugee’s entry to their territories. Turkey, conversely, has retained such a policy and attempted to manage the major arrivals. These three countries have welcomed Syrian refugees as temporary guests until a durable solution would be found, that is either to be returned to their country of origin when repatriation is sustainable or be resettled to a third country by United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR).
