In the second half of I c. BC, Chersonesus managed to defend its independence in a struggle with Bosporus’ kings and established direct contacts with the Roman imperial administration. After a detachment of Chersonesus warriors had supported Rome in the Bosporus-Roman war, these ties got strengthened, which was apparently demonstrated by the campaign of T. Plauto Silvanus. The campaign defeated the barbrians who threatened the city, and the Romans started building a forpost on the Ai-Todor cape. The second stage of the Roman military presence in Taurica begins in the middle – second half of 40s of II c., when Chersonesus and its suburbs were occupied by the Roman troops, and the civil society was granted the rights of an eleuteria. All this led not only to an economic rise, which lasted for about one hundred years, but also enhanced the Roman military and political position in Taurica. From the second half of 40s of II c. and until the third quarter of III cc., Chersonesus remained a large base of the Roman military presence, where except the land forces, there were ships of the Roman navy. In the second half of II c., the city was a residence of the military tribune, who was in charge of all Roman troops in Scythia and Taurica. The debris discovered on the territory of Chersonesus’ citadel testify that the Roman military led here large-scale construction activities. They built barracks, thermae and several buildings which functioned for over a hundred years. The Roman troops were also deployed in other places in Taurica. This testifies that the imperial administration led a consecutive policy during the second half of II – third of III cc., aimed not only at protection of the allied Chersonesus state, but also at gradual exploitation of the adjacent territories. In the second quarter of III c., the worsened situation on the Danube and the Empire’s need for reserves to fight back the barbarian invasions made the Roman troops to abandon not only Taurica, but also Chersonesus. In about 250, the Roman troops again settle in Chersonesus for some time, and after the permanent Roman garrison had been removed from there by the central administration in the third quarter of III c., Chersonesus was rendered financial aid, as the centre became the only reliable outpost of the Empire in the whole Northern Black Sea area.

The Bulgarian fortresses on the middle course of the Lower Danube, from upstream to downstream, were during the Middle Ages important centres for the surveillance of the river and for the control and protection of border roads. In case of emergencies, they received military help from the inland regions of the Tsardom. There existed connections between the Bulgarian fortresses and those on the left bank of the Danube, especially during the First Bulgarian Empire, but also during the second one, although archaeological discoveries do not always confirm written sources. The silence of the sources is a problem of the classical Middle Ages, particularly in the case of the Lower Danube area. The few historical evidences, interpreted objectively, lead to conclusions which not seldom contradict national historiographic interests. Both Bulgarians and Romanians witnessed a cohabitation dictated by common interests, generated by a specific historical context, and the empire of the Asen Dynasty, which intended to substitute the Byzantine one, had a certain influence over the territory north of the Danube, that is noticeable in what concerns the liturgical language and that used in the chancelleries of the two Romanian principalities, the use of the particle “Io”, which preceded the titles of Romanian rulers and which comes directly from tsar Ioan Asen II, and, not lastly, the use of some fortresses on the left bank of the Danube as outposts for the strong fortresses on the other bank.

When writing a brief introduction to the translation of the dialogue Plato's Republic. Noica has called the text "cautionary word." That is no accident. Our philosopher wanted to prevent readers reading on two errors, two of consi¬derably old prejudices, namely that in the Republic Plato outlines an ideal state and authoritarian structure height, and that gives out the poets of this is cetate.1 about a regrettable misunderstanding, show Noica. Extending the idea, we could say that each new reading of the dialogue would require a new approach to hermeneutics of text and symbols resignification contained in it, according to a context that is always the present.

The deaths of the first two kings of Romania were faced with a vivid emotion by the Romanian people and by high ranking officials from abroad. The Funerals of Kings Carol I and Ferdinand I of Romania were organized under the laws and the Royal Protocol and according to the requirements that the kings showed in their wills. They were not different in content, symbols or the presence of important Romanian and foreign personalities of the time. Both kings had in their funerals catholic religious ceremonial because they were born catholic, and also Orthodox ceremonial because this is the religion of the country. The shock caused by the kings' passing made the headlines of the times. Many Romanian newspapers, and also some foreign ones, were full of eulogistic articles regarding the lives of the Romanian Kings. Their funeral ceremonials are important since they managed to show each monarch's personality, and the image they created during their lifetimes. Funeral ceremonies have the great merit of paying homage to the memory of the deceased. The bigger the honors, the greater the importance of that person in society and in the lives of those who knew them. Regardless of the magnitude of the funeral, as Cicero said, the lives of the deceased are best stored in the memories of the living. Likewise, we could say that the lives of the first two kings of Romania have remained and will remain permanently in the memory of posterity as long as their stories are kept and passed from generation to generation.

The study focuses on understanding the reiterations in the book of Revelation of John. The purpose is to identify how they describe the spiritual evolution of the Church and its mission. The seven trumpets are presented as a parallel cycle to other septenary sequences (seven churches, seven seals, seven cups), a cycle meant to complement the others, to outline the picture of the eschatological events. The use of the Old Testament background and the thematic parallels in the New Testament are the key to the elaboration of this study.
