Textbooks regarding the history of the Ottoman Empire were a part from the body of textbooks devoted to the world history. This narrative presents exactly these textbooks. Analysis is concentrated on the textbooks by Petko R. Slaveikov and Stefan S. Bobchev. The author presents their didactical aspects, their conceptual place in the opposition “tolerance-intolerance” as well as their achievements. Regardless their late emergence, in the second half of the XIX century, these textbooks on the Ottoman history helped for the development of historical knowledge and culture.

Nieznane źródło do dziejów parafii w Małogoszczu (inwentarz kościelny z 1786 roku)

The parish under the invocation of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Małogoszcz (the Świętokrzyskie province) is one of the oldest in the Kielce diocese. It was erected in the first half of the 12th c., and in 1342 was lavishly endowed by the King Casimir the Great. From the beginning of the 14th c. it was part of the Kurzelów archdeaconry of the Gniezno archdiocese, and three centuries later it became the seat of the deanery. The first, wooden parish church was burnt down by the Tatars in 1259. Little is known about the second one. The present, stone temple was built at the end of the 16th c. in the Renaissance style by the priest Jakub Bieda Chrostkowic. This priest founded two other churches in Małogoszcz: branch church dedicated St. Stanislaus on the Babinek hill (now a cemetery one, being in a ruin) and the hospital church of St. Cross (not preserved). The basis for the edition of the source (placed at the end of the article) is the inventory of the parsonage of 1786 from the collections of the Diocesan Archives in Kielce. This manuscript has not been previously published or exploited by historians. It describes a presbytery, a manor house, the farm buildings, a brewery, two inns, and also lists livestock and dead stock. This source significantly enriches our knowledge about the Małogoszcz parish in Old Poland period.

Wolica – uparta wieś na obrzeżach Warszawy

The purpose of this article is to present the history of the former village of Wolica, located at the Warsaw Escarpment. Wolica was firstly mentioned in 15th century. The village was the property of many noble families like the Potocki, the Branicki and even to King Jan III Sobieski. For over 500 years Wolica did not stand out at all. Surprisingly, it began to make its mark in the 20th century, when it was incorporated to the capital. Despite the progressing urbanisation of Warsaw, it retained its rural character. The author, an ethnology student, focuses on the spatial changes in Wolica. To prove her point, she cites some of interviews with the locals, which were conducted during her field research in Wolica, that continues.

Od wiejskiej osady do przemysłowego miasta. Historia i rozwój urbanistyczny Stąporkowa od XVIII w. do lat sześćdziesiątych XX w.

Urban analysis covers the period from the construction of the first blast furnace in the Konecki estates – 1738/39 until 1967 when Stąporków gained the city rights. The industrial development of the village is connected with Jan Małachowski and Jan Tarnowski. The areas around the steelworks formed the core of the “old” Stąporków developing towards the village of Czarna and the health resort of Czarniecka Góra to the west. Shortly after the Second World War, the industry was reborn in the town. Settlements for the workers of individual factories began to be built. In the 1950s, the first buildings for their employees were erected by the Iron Foundry Stąporków and the Iron Ore Mine. The constructed housing estates became the axis of the “new” Stąporków focusing its spatial development around industrial plants located east of the original settlement. Between these parts, spaces of residential, functional and cultural functions appeared successively. This however, led to the lack of a clearly defined urban center of the location.

Complex personality, with encyclopedic valences, doctor Dorel Rape expressed himself in a very special, atypical way, especially in the field of literature, spirituality and art (painting, sculpture), his creations being a result of concerns about the meaning of his existence and his fellows upon this earth. His poetry is a plea for the beauty of the past life, but also for the future, from which there is no lack of God, nor the Devil.

Neculai Moghior. In Memoriam

By this article the author wants to show the links existing between the historian Neculai Moghior, the international symposiums organized annualy by “Dimitrie Ghika-Comăneşti” Cultural and Scientifical Association, with attendance of highly placed invited persons from CRIFST – The Romanian Committee for History and Philosophy of Science and Techniques of the Romanian Academy – this association’s honorary President being PhD Dumitru Murariu, CRIFST’s first vice-president. The initiator of this association has been N. Moghior, honorary citizen of Comanesti, where he has been born in 1947 (dead in Bucharest on 6th September 2019, member of the Scientific Committee of Columna until then), and this association review “Columna”, (whose chief editor is PhD Valentin Marin, CRIFST Scientific Secretary until 2020), a Supplement of “Studies and Communications” CRIFST’s Review.

ORAŞELE DIN OLTENIA ÎN LUMINA UNOR DOCUMENTE CARTOGRAFICE ŞI NARATIVE (1700-1845)

The present paper aims to bring into discussion the evolution of the urban space from historical province Oltenia (south-western part of present Romania). Based on the analysis of special sources, especially the cartographic and narrative ones, we noticed an interesting dynamic of cities ands small towns from Oltenia in the 18th Century and the first decades of the 19th Century. They saw a resize both in terms of number (cities who disappear or reappear after decades of silence), and in terms of size, despite a political and military context far to be favorable to any development.

ASPECTE PRIVIND ORGANIZAREA MUNCII SALARIATE PE DOMENIUL COROANEI SEGARCEA

In the present article I intended to bring forward the situation of the employees from Segarcea Crown Domain, being motivated by the fact that the rumours diffused on this subject do not flatter the Romanian royal family, being mentioned their excessive exploitation. Yet, the archive documents demonstrate that the measures taken by the Crown Domains Administration, related to the interest shown towards the employees – the insurances, starting with 1903, of the workers on the agricultural machines, against accidents, measure that later extended to all the workers of the Domain; their registration to the Pension Fund House; the facility for the completion of studies and the material support in the best schools; wages high enough to meet their needs; material and money assistance given both to the employees and to the retired people or to the other dwellers; free medical assistance; providing of salubrious and lighted houses and the payment of lightening and heating bills – constitute a model for the entire rural Romanian space. As a sign of gratitude for the devotion that many employees and also villagers showed to the Crown Domain, they received decorations from King Carol II. In this respect, we mention: „Răsplata Muncii pentru 25 de ani”, „Meritul Agricol”, „Meritul Comercial şi Industrial”, „Crucea Serviciul Credincios”, „Crucea de Argint a Ordinului Casei Domnitoare”, Gold Medal, Silver Medal, „Centenarul Regelui Carol I”.

UN FRAGMENT DE TEZAUR MONETAR DIN EPOCA ROMANĂ DE LA CRAIOVA – METRO ŞI ALTE MONEDE ROMANE IMPERIALE DESCOPERITE ÎN DOLJ

The article deals with coin hoard unearthed in the Craiova Dolj District, dated before and after the roman conquest. The repertoire consists in 10 hoards silver denarii and antoninianus form this hoard, issued by emperors Traianus, Septimius Severus, Iulia Domna, Diadumenianus, Elagabalus, Maximinus Trax, Gordianus III. Apart from the 13 unpublished isolated coins. Author offers informations regarding thirteen coins roman imperial unearthed in Dolj District.

ASPECTS FROM THE LIFE AND ACTIVITY OF IOAN KALINDERU

In the present study we tried to bring forward few aspects from theactivity of one of the greatest intellectuals of the 19th century. Although as astructure he was a jurist and was being remarked in this sector occupying veryimportant functions such as: president of the Ilfov court, first president of theCourt of Appeal from Bucharest; member of the Court of Cassation;administrator of the domains and forests of the state; royal director at Berlin ofthe Romanian railways; member of the Court of Arbitration from Hague, heremained known in history as an administrator of the Crown Domains (1884-1913) and president of the Romanian Academy, the History Section (1895-1898; 1907-1910). His scientific activity is also remarkable, Ion Kalinderuhaving the necessary capacity to approach a wide variety of themes: Romanlaw, historic, economic, political and moral ones.

L’ÉVOLUTION DE LA CATÉGORIE DES BOYARDS DANS L’OLTÉNIE DE LA PREMIÈRE MOITIÉ DU XIXE SIÈCLE

Based on studies of other specialists but also on documents of thetime, this study proposes an analyse of the evolution of the aristocratic elite fromOltenia. The author notes the changes that have affected the elite category,forced to seek new repositioning in modern society. Prestige derived fromadministrative and military career or success in business will try to sustain aposition in a society where membership in a social group begins to meet newdefinitions. The statistic dimension of the Oltenian boyards presence in the stateaffairs is also taken into account.

Activities of the “Orljak” Mountaineering Club from Opatija (hereinafter: the Club) are underrepresented in the history of Croatian mountaineering. However, a quarter of a century of existence and notable activities in Liburnia justify the need to document such an important episode in local, regional, and even national mountaineering history. This paper, therefore, explores work and activities of the Club from its earliest days in the form of “Orljak” Mountaineering Section within “Opatija” Mountaineering Club (as of 1980), the establishment of independent Club (1984), the period of growth and intensive activities in the 1980s, gradual fading out in the 1990s up to final notable activities in the first decade of the 21st century. The paper is based upon a thorough analysis of unpublished archival resources from several funds. This data is supplemented by interviews with people who were active members of the Club during a certain period, and with secondary literature. This data is little known, even within mountaineers’ circles; therefore, the objectives of this research are to save from oblivion the work and activities of a mountaineering club and to adequately valorise its work as a lasting heritage of local, regional, and national (mountaineering) history.
