This analysis focuses on exploring the images of the heart in the epic genre, including a singular case of imaginary heart-eating (cardiophagia) that is highlighted in le planh written by the troubadour Sordel. This wild behavior associated with otherness, above all with the cannibals of the Far East, stands out from the medieval literary corpus focused on the punishment of an illicit love. It also reveals, like other images of the heart present in the chansons de geste, a very subtle play between the concrete appearance of an organ and its metaphorical significations. In other words, this game enables a symbolic quantification of such abstract notions as courage, bravery, physical strength or, on the contrary, cowardice.

Notre travail se propose d’analyser quelques images archétypales et symboles propres à la primordialité tels qu’ils sont actualisés dans les proses mythologiques de Michel Tournier. À partir des proses tournériennes et des mythes du Paradis et de l’Âge d’or issus des traditions judéo-chrétiennes et gnoséologiques, par une démarche mythocritique et analytique abyssale, nous avons pu identifier ces archétypes et images archétypales liés au Primordium: le Chaos, la Transcendance, le Paradis, l’Androgyne/le couple primordial. Le nombre des symboles qui actualisent ces invariants est vraiment impressionnant, mais nous focalisons notre analyse seulement sur ces éléments : la forêt, le noir, la nuit, les eaux primordiales, le feu, l’île, la pluie, l’oiseau, la montagne.

НАРАТОЛОГІЧНИЙ АСПЕКТ СИМВОЛІСТСЬКОГО РОМАНУ (МАРСЕЛЬ ПРУСТ)

The article deals with the specifics of the naratological analysis of the symbolist text, in particular, on the material of Marcel Proust's epic "In Search of Lost Time." It is argued that the Marcel Proust Symbolist novel as a special type of text requires the development of a special methodology for research. In the symbolist novel, the main idea is abstract, the means of its expression are concrete: it is a symbol as a universal category of human thinking. In order for the symbol to function in the multi-level structure of the text, the author of the symbolist work must choose a special structure of the narrative and the corresponding strategies and tactics, which obviously differ from the traditional one. The chronology, techniques, and measurements of the narrative of the symbolist novel are constructed on the principle of gradation significance in the formation of characters, their development, self-expression, modeling of individual values, interaction of man with the outside world at the confines of sacred / profane. Marcel Proust showed that time and life are inseparable concepts that play a major role in the human worldview.

Le post-humain comme monstre messianique dans Babylon Babies de Maurice. G. Dantec

In fact, his fiction is entirely dedicated to the description of a future where human beings will disappear and leave their place to a new species. Heir of Nietzsche’s philosophy, Dantec imagines in Babylon Babies the future of mankind through the Zorn twins, babies destined to be the next step for humanity. In Dantec’s fiction, the posthuman is a messiah that will finally reach possibilities impossible for humans. Both monsters and wonders, the Zorn twins are the next step of evolution, necessary in Dantec’s pessimistic vision of humanity.

Un genre éclaté: le Journal de Dany Laferrière

The article proposes to debate the issue of conventions and generic choices in French and French literature of the 21st century through the practice of the Journal. The study corpus takes as its main points of reference the Journal du dehors (1993) of Annie Ernaux and the Journal extime (2002) of Michel Tournier to emphasize in more detail the Journal of a writer in pajamas (2013) of Dany Laferrière. The analysis considers the relationships of kinship, the lines of demarcation, the generic forms of collusion between the diary, the diary extime, the journal of creation, the diary of writer, the autobiographical novel, the manual of writing, the brief forms. Our approach is also concerned with the functions of autobiography and romance through the practice of writing and the status of the contemporary writer.

The poetry of French surrealistic poet Robert Desnos in a book Spevobáje a spevokvety (Storysongs and Flowersongs) tends to association, intellectual and sensual playfulness. The aim of the text is to introduce and interpret his poetry for children using Feldek´s translation of the principle. It means not to translate the words, verses or poems but to bring the feeling from the poetry to the audience, to translate an association. In this sense, there are examples of poetics with language analogies, metaphors, semantics and humor in the rest of the contribution.

Le jeu et les enjeux du silence dans La soif d’Assia Djebar

A travers une approche analytique, nous avons exploré le thème du silence dans La soif, premier roman d’Assia Djebar. Négligé par la critique, ce texte mérite une attention particulière, tant il dresse déjà le chemin des luttes égalitaires et construit le socle de l’écriture littéraire de l’écrivaine. Notre article analyse les différents aspects du silence à travers l’évolution de deux personnages féminins, Nadia et Jedla. L’assise théorique de notre travail est la « performativité », concept clé de Judith Butler. Nous avons transposé cette notion et appliqué « le silence performatif » qui est utilisé dans les études du genre. Nous avons démontré que le silence dans La soif n’est pas uniquement une figure de style, mais est aussi porteur de plusieurs connotations. Dans ce roman de Djebar, le silence apparaît comme un appareil subversif et un outil de transgression des codes sociaux. L’objectif principal de l’étude est de présenter les différentes stratégies adoptées par les personnages féminins pour contrer l’oppression et imposer leur affirmation à travers le silence. Notre analyse du roman émet des hypothèses sur le combat de la femme à travers les deux personnages qui utilisent le silence comme moyen de défense et un discours pour se défaire des règles patriarcales.

Pour une poétique du silence chez Jean Amrouche : « Lettres de l’Absent »

Three parts are highlighted, the one where the Absent is confronted with solitude, the one where he encounters silence and the one where he discovers the saving power of silence. If There Is Such a Thing as Dignity: Scenes of Silence in de Vigny’s ‘The Death of the Wolf’

The concept of human dignity has recently become a contested idea in at least two ways: either because of the growing difficulty to limit dignity to the human, or because the very notion of dignity has come to appear too unstable to serve as a conceptual tool for the purposes of defining humanity. This paper investigates the ways in which the figure of silence might be linked to these critical considerations. It starts out with a reflection on the concept of dignity from the perspective of human-animal relations by reference to the universal declarations of human and animal rights, as well as to the Derridean treatment of the question of the animal. Then it pays close attention to three scenes of silence in Alfred de Vigny’s romantic poem ‘The Death of the Wolf’, and attempts to trace how silence is associated both with sublime morality, or dignity, and a primordial state of permanent threat and violence ‒ the upshot being that this figural ambivalence of silence does not leave intact our modern notion of dignity and in fact indicates an intrinsic instability at the heart of the concept.

Algeria: Sarah Haidar’s Reflections on Conflict

This study explores the literary representations of conflict and the pivotal roles that the act of writing and the function of literature assume in Algerian writer Sarah Haidar’s fictional work Virgules en trombe (2013). Haidar denounces conflict in her homeland, characterizing it as a form of human insanity often originating from an individual internalization of shame and fear. In highlighting the hypocrisy and pettiness that lie at the basis of these conflicts, Haidar invites the reader to consider the oft-damaging results of human fallibility and calls for the envisioning of a new type of literature free of nationalistic and egotistical projections. Haidar’s original form of noir fiction embraces, reflects upon, expands, sublimates and evolves from conflict, often with gritty humor, thus suggesting that this new form of literature could be a medium through which the processes of healing and transformation can begin.

À la recherche d’une identité. Les enfants des immigrés de guerre dans “Littoral” et “Incendies” de Wajdi Mouawad

A key figure in contemporary Quebec drama, Wajdi Mouawad, became known to the general public with the four parts of his tetralogy entitled Le sang des promesses. This Frenchspeaking author of Lebanese origin places a lot of emphasis on the themes of identity and civil war in Lebanon, addressed through the prism of the children of war immigrants who, by returning to their native country, pursue their quest for roots. This article proposes to study the successive stages of identity research of the protagonists of the two first pieces of the cycle: Wilfrid in Littoral (1999) as well as Jeanne and Simon in Incendies (2003).
