From Statistics to Efficient Management

Academic librarianship is a basic support activity of education and research on universities. The aim of the University of Maribor Library (UML) and its services and professional potential is to be an equal partner in educating a professional, who, with his/her creativity and innovativeness, will be added value for the society. The treatise presents the activities of the University of Maribor central university library that are based of the basic strategy for providing quality of the University of Maribor Library. This strategy is based on the library’s self-evaluation reports, on the international evaluation of library services in the European context according to the BIX methodology, and on the comparative analysis of indicators for determination of successful comparable libraries in Slovenia provided by CEZAR. Statistical data are crucial for strategic management and a long-term development of library services as well as for a more effective use of library financial means. The aim of this treatise is to present methodologies of different systems for quality evaluation that are used in the University of Maribor Library for developing new services, effective planning and management.

Biblioteka i kriteriji za evaluaciju naučnih časopisa

Scientific journals represent one of the essential aspects of scientific communication. The aim of this paper is to present library activities in supporting formal scientific communication and creation and dissemination of new scientific informations in scientific publications. There are many criteria assessing the quality of scientific journals and those who are most often cited are: continuity of publication, reputable publisher, international editorial board, indexing, reviewing process, editorial policy, publishing ethics, clear and precise instructions for authors. The paper presents the review of evaluation criteria, and evaluation of scientific and professional journals while indexing in the relevant databases for a particular scientific field. Library acquisition policy is based on evaluation of scientific journals and journal selection for subscription according to their ranking in Journal Citation Report (Thomson Reuters). Creating collection of current high-quality scientific periodicals and access to relevant scientific data bases, academic library contributes to creating supportive environment for teaching staff in their scientific work. Scientific contribution of academic staff could be visible through personal bibliography created using researcher ID from E-CRIS in COBISS system.

Gürcü Dili Çalışmaları ve Gürcistan'ın Dil Politikası

Georgian language, one of the oldest languages and 14 original alphabets in the world, is the official language of Georgia. Besides, it has the feature of being a cornerstone for the Georgians from past to now, to have a state. Georgian language and culture is base of Georgian ethnical entity. Georgian, borrowing a lot of vocabularies from Ural-Altaic and Indo-Eurepean languages because of its geopolitical position and cultural exchanges, has been improving very rapid range in the fields of science, culture, education and modern intercommunication. The status of Georgian language has been determined as the formal language of the country by the Georgian Constitution. Official functions of the language have been determined by a language committee running under the Georgian presidency. Many researches have been done on Georgian langauge in various countries; the most important Cartveology centers being in Italy and Germany. The sensitiviy of Georgians, who have tried much to develop their language for the last two centuries, can be commented as a strive to save Georgian from effects of other languages. Georgia has taken concrete steps in favor of the minorities’ learning Georgian. That representatives of the minorities are given opportunity to study one year of free Georgian education can be given as an example for that policy. The authority of Georgian language as the official languge of the country is reinforced within all institutions. Conflicts are resolved through Georgian language and by doing so an interaction is provided among the ethnical communities in the country. It is observed that the recent policies performed to make the Georgian language a genuine language of the state in real sense are partially successful; it can be foreseen, however, that much more serious steps will be taken under the light of the ongoing experiences and practices.

Proekologiczne zachowania młodych polskich konsumentów

The subject matter of the article concerns consumer behaviours included in the subject literature to the category of pro-ecological behaviours. The main aim of considerations is to determine the scope and frequency of such behaviours by young Polish consumers. In order to implement the assumed aim the author used the literature concerning purchasers’ behaviours, the secondary data accessible in the research works describing pro-ecological activity of Polish consumers as well as the data obtained from own research carried out in the period of February-March 2014 by the method of auditorium questionnaire on the non-random sample of 617 respondents (students of the Nicolaus Copernicus University in Torun and the Torun School of Banking). Most of the persons surveyed shared the opinion that the present and the future condition of the natural environment depends on consumers’ pro-ecological activity and its improvement is not possible without the proper ecological education. On the other hand, the obtained data showed that not all respondents undertake pro-ecological behaviours and if they undertake, then in different degree and with different frequency. This is the basis for drawing the conclusion that views of young Polish consumers not always go hand in hand with the activities undertaken thereby. The reason for lack of cohesion may be, inter alia, the typical for their young age immaturity and instability in the area of their cognitive, emotional and behavioural sphere. Identification thereof indicates the need to intensify the carried out in Poland ecological education in such a way that it would be conducive in a greater degree to formation in young people (consumers) of the views recognising the need for concern for the natural environment and pro-ecological behaviours cohesive with them.

XX. Asrin İlk Çeyreğinde Neşredilen “Kazak” Gazetesindeki Dini Eserlerin İlani+

In this article, XX. Kazakh people who lived in the beginning of the century in connection with the Russian Government tried to reveal the point of view of Islamic religion in those days thank to the religious books published in the Kazakh Gazette. Because of that in the first part, all the numbers of the Kazakh Journal published between 1913 and 1918 were searched and all the news related to the religious artifact of the Kazakh religious scholars were collected. In the second part, some of these advertisement have been given extensive information apart from newspaper announcements. We have included these report in our research position. Finally, by examining the present existence of these work, which have a separate prescription for us, the third part of our article has been formed.

Postawy i zachowania proekologiczne względem zagadnień środowiskowych

Aim of the article: in their study, the authors undertook an attempt to establish the strength of dependencies between the proecological behaviours and the variables related to the lifestyle and with the selected components of proecological attitudes. Type of the research methodology used: in the group of 776 respondents, there were carried out quantitative surveys by the face-to-face method. A research tool was the interview questionnaire subjected to validation (the method of main components, Cronbach’s α coefficients). The impact of the variables in question on proecological behaviours was determined with the help of correlation coefficients. Main research findings: proecological behaviours are to a minor degree related to the lifestyle and respondents’ proecological attitudes. Practical implications: the research findings indicate the need to change society’s behaviours by way of influencing the components of the proecological attitude. Social implications: in the future, seeking for solutions in the field of promoting the proecological behaviours should take into account formation of the attitude’s emotional element. Growth of the ecological awareness being a result of education affects the formation of proecological behaviours in the food market. Article category: research.

This exemplarily woman, who has never been seriously investigated in terms of who she was, how she lived and what she did, always desired to be remembered forever. Meliha Avni Sözen has not only set an example, but also succeeded to actually become unforgettable with her splendid preachings that she called “my actual profession”, what she did for education, especially for the education of girls and her commitment to Atatürk and the Revolution. This article has been completed within a long process of research, which included collection of all documents as well as interviews with those having information about her.

Piyano Eğitiminde Pedal Kullanma Problemleri

The biggest problem faced by the instructor during the piano training process is that the use of the pedal is transferred to the student in a healthy way. The pedal use problems, which are felt more clearly during the reflection of the training process to performance, are something that keeps the piano trainers considerably busy and constantly looking for solutions. Today's contemporary piano performances, examinations, concerts and even pedal problems we often witness in piano competitions; Pedal work that should be done in the training process is ignored by the trainers or the trainers are insufficient in these studies. In this study, pedal education and dirty pedal made during the reflection of performance of this education, pedal position of the foot position is not suitable, pedal reflection of the piano key usage mistakes etc. As well as common mistakes. Also; There have been offered alternatives to the piano instructors in the direction of their correction by mentioning the factors which are caused by the lack of artistic understanding, the wrong culling of the work and the pedaling mistakes caused by this, neglecting this use in works requiring pedal use or performing flat pedaling instead of delayed pedaling.

Education And The Deepening Of The Axiological Crisis In The Course Of Globalization

Globalization as both a social and a historical phenomenon is undoubtedly manifested as one of the determinants of the axiological crisis. The positive and negative consequences of globalization in the axiological realm certainly exist, and reflection on them and their connection with the education of modern man is needed. Knowledge of values must be one of the foundations of education for the members of modern globalizing societies. The acquisition of the axiological competence by the student is, however, multi-step. Different stages of education, for various reasons, are sometimes too short. The student may feel alienated and treated objectively. To effect this can be to take away from certain values such as constancy, sense of security, sense of community and others. These are typical threats in globalizing societies, which must be countered. Education plays an indispensable positive role in defining what, on the basis of what values, shape the future of humanity and the world that it creates.

Atatürk'ün Adana, Türk Ocağı Kürkçüler Köyü İlkokulu Muallimi Mahmut Nedim Bey'e Yardımı

Teacher Mahmut Nedim has worked more than fifteen months in the primary school of Kurkculer village of Adana. But unfortunately the school has been abolished for good and the service of teacher Mahmut Nedim has been terminated forever. Mr. Nedim Mahmut not only lost his job but also cloud not gets the salary for fifteen months due to the abolition of "Turkish Homeland". Mr. Mahmut Nedim has written a lot of official and personnel letters and petitions to the concerned government institutions and organizations in order to get the remains of his salary which is sum of 640 Turkish Lira unfortunately he couldn't get a reasonable solutions to his problems. At last Mr. Mahmut Nedim has decided to write a letter to the unique leader and the real father of Turks and founder of the great Turkish Republic Mr. Kemal Atatürk. As soon as the letter of Mahmut Nedim received on behalf of Kemal Atatürk the letter has been replied and sent to the concerned for necessary action to be taken immediately. After a long paper chase and official writings among the government officials the amount of the money required only half of it has been paid to Mr. Mahmut Nedim on 18 th November 1935 after the first letter, which has been written on 18.9.1932. The subject is so important from the views of human rights and democracy. The era of Atatürk has really full of with justice, democracy, respects to the human rights and also it is not allowed to any body under any circumstances to cheat or degradation in the territory of Turkish borders.

Muslim modernism should be understood as a response to the encounter of the lethargic Dar ul-Islam (World of Islam) with the powerful Western world. Intellectuals were polarized between those who wanted to freeze the present situation and modernists, who were clear that remaining introvert is conceptually untenable and, as such, a clear sign of intellectual inferiority. Husein Dozo is the most prominent representative of the Muslim modernism movement in the latter half of the 20th century.

Kapitał ludzki województwa zachodniopomorskiego w procesach rozwoju innowacyjnego regionu

An aim of considerations is to raise awareness of the importance of human capital in the processes of innovative development in the region on the example of West Pomeranian Province. There was applied a review of the subject literature, secondary materials and documents as well as the method of statistics. There was adopted a definite system of categorisation of human capital being an integral components of intellectual capital. The analysis of indices of human capital of the region showed positive trends related to growth of the number of learners of post-graduate studies and the number of PhD studies participants. A favourable phenomenon is the noted growth of average monthly per capita spending on education. Great progress was made as regards employment of handicapped persons aged 16-64 – there was noted the growth of this index by 47.16%. The region’s population is characterised, against the background of the country, by a relatively low level of education at the working age – the index accounts for 16.59%. The region is in the third place from the end in terms of the registered unemployment rate – the index is 18.0%. The number of student in West Pomeranian Voivodeship in 2012 decreased by 27.48% vis-à-vis 2005. Unfavourable phenomenon is also the drop of the number of graduates of the engineering and technical lines of education.

Wybrane społeczne kompetencje konsumenckie Polaków w świetle badań

The main objective of the study is description of the selected consumer social competencies and their range of occurrence among Polish consumers. Implementation of the assumed objective was possible owing to application of the method of critical analysis of national and foreign literature sources concerning consumer competencies and methods of quantitative research. In result of theoretical research, the author indicated the importance of consumer social competencies in fulfilling the role of consumer in the contemporary society. In turn, the empirical research focused on possession of consumer social competencies by Polish consumers. This concerned the competencies related to the use of consumer goods in the process of image building, the use thereof as an attribute of a given social position, adjustment of the consumption patterns to the consumer goods in the market offer. The practical implication of the carried out research is emphasising the necessity to shape consumer social competencies in consumer education. On the other hand, the social implication of the study is emphasising the importance of consumer social competencies in a proper fulfilment of the consumer’s role. The article is of the research nature.

Bishop Josip Juraj Strossmayer was culturally, politically, and educationally active in an exceptionally turbulent time of the Croatian history, characterized by an awareness about national consciousness and an aspiration toward a modern civic society and its values—both cultural and the moral ones. On the occasion of his orations, Bishop Josip Juraj Strossmayer availed himself of an opportunity to signify a necessity of a national awakening of the Croatian nation based on the steadfast foundations of the faith, as well as of science and arts. The paper deeply analyzes some of the most important Bishop Strossmayer’s speeches by a pedagogically directed perusal, beginning with the year 1850, when he addressed the folk on the occasion of his ceremonial episcopal enthroning. It was his first significant speech, followed by the one from the 9th session of the Croatian Parliament (1861), his oration from the first session of the Academy of Sciences and Arts (1867), his speech to the students and teachers subsequent to the opening of the University of Zagreb (1874), his speech on the consecration and the opening of the Vinkovci Gymnasium (1879), and his speech at the ceremonial session of the Academy of Sciences and Arts upon the opening of the Art Gallery (1884). Having perused six representative Strossmayer’s speeches, the educational values he promoted are typlogized and categorized.

Rola edukacji finansowej w racjonalizowaniu zachowań konsumentów

An aim of the author’s considerations is to show the state of knowledge and the need to undertake education of Polish consumers as regards finance in the market for banking services in Poland. Financial education provides consumers with an ability to correctly identify opportunities and threats posed by financial products, not only by the basic ones but particularly by those up-to-date, with a high degree of complication. In order to achieve the assumed goal the author used the method of review of the subject literature and presented findings of secondary surveys and primary research. In July and August 2012, the author carried out, through a professional research company, a quantitative survey comprised of two parts. In the first part, there were carried out interviews with the use of a structured questionnaire by the technique of face-to-face interview. A subject of the research was purposely selected adult Poles, men and women, with different education, having mortgage credit and at least one consumer credit. An aim of the varied out research was to diagnose the type of knowledge possessed by consumers on the rights they are entitled to in the market of banking services. The research was carried out on 5 voivodeship cities of Poland: Warsaw, Krakow, Wroclaw, Gdansk and Poznan. The sample size amounted to 430 individuals. The research was supplemented by the method of on-line survey with 77 respondents. As the findings show, the Polish society aims at formation of the civilisation of individuals financially educated, having access to and using banking services at a higher and higher level, aware of their rights in the market for banking services, who will be able to achieve their current financial stabilisation and to secure their future. The article is of the research nature.
