This report compares the presentation of the case system of the Old Bulgarian language in „Altbulgarische Grammatik” by Rudolph Aitzetmüller and „Grammatik der altbulgarischen Sprache” by August Leskien. It focuses on the category of the noun, the way of arrangement of the case system, as well as the lexical and graphical presentation of the studied data. The conclusions drawn from this research help the development of the study of the Old Bulgarian language grammar in the XX century.

In this paper we observed the nouns with the meaning of a general doer of the action, which were formed out of the verbs with suffixes -lac and -telj: their normative status in the standard Bosnian language and the use of such nouns in the documents in the Bosnian language published in official gazettes of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

This paper deals with the issue of Islamic linguistic culture in Bosnia and Herzegovina and it explores the use and frequency of certain theological expressions, the oral phrases used by Bosniaks, and the search for their equivalents in Bosnian. The research is targeted at a particular population of Bosniaks; namely, the conversation of practicing Muslims who try to follow the Prophet s.a.w. were analysed both in behaviour and in speech culture. The paper refers to the analysis of the linguistic use of the following Kur'an - Hadith phrases; bismillah, masḥa Allah, insha Allah.

Contrastive study of governed prepositions in Croatian, English, and French

Governed prepositions are defined as prepositions in the relation of strong government with another lexical unit in a syntactic phrase, for example, a verb (believe in, rely on) (Rauh 1993; Hoffmann 2007; Gaszewski 2012). The relation of strong government makes prepositions obligatory complements of verbs and entails a semantic difference between verb senses with or without a preposition (Eng. believe someone – believe in someone; Cro. držati (što u ruci) ‘hold (something in hand)’ – držati do ‘appreciate; lit. hold to’; Fr. porter ‘put, wear’ – porter sur ‘to focus on’). It also entails a change in the meaning of a preposition and results in its extension from the basic spatial meaning, as in be in the box – believe in someone. It is therefore the aim of this study to examine the properties of governed prepositions in three structurally different languages – Croatian, English, and French.

Семантична съпоставка между фразеологични структури с опорна дума риба в български и гръцки

This paper compares the forms and semantics of phraseological units in Bulgarian and Greek, using the head word Fish. The resulting observations of the study allow for the drawing of some linguistic and ethno-psycholinguistic conclusions regarding these two Balkan nations. In analysing the construction of semantic equivalents in the two languages, both complete and partial similarities can be observed. Semantic classification reveals that phraseologisms are personally orientated, and that amongst these, those which characterise qualities, actions, and states evoking negative emotions are seen to dominate.

Hamza Humo is remembered as a narrator with lyrical elements. In that sense, his poetry became an important segment of his entire work which also reveals some key identities of poets personality. This paper analyzes the songs from the cycle The Herzegovinian landscapes that already in the title reveals the spatial identity of poets complex beings. The analysis of songs includes stratification of language characteristics by levels in language, considering the phonological, morphological, syntactic, lexical and stylistic features of poems and comparing those fetures with the situation in bosnian dialects and contemporary Bosnian language.

Dijalektizmi u Grozdaninom kikotu Hamze Hume

In the study of dialecticism in a literary text, we must keep in mind editorial intervention, those of publisher, as well as those of author himself. However, dialecticism that is almost in the domain of the unconscious, is syntactical dialecticism. Therefore, this paper seeks to primarily syntactic dialects, based on previous studies of syntactic phenomena in dialects, and also lists the morphological and lexical dialecticism. It was found that, as expected, Hamza Humo’s Grozdanin kikot is rich in dialecticism.

ANGLICIZMI U RJEČNICIMA BOSANSKOG JEZIKA S POČETKA 21. VIJEKA - ETIMOLOŠKA PERSPEKTIVA

This paper focuses on words that the early 21st century monolingual Bosnian language dictionaries categorise as originating from the English language. The purpose of the research is to determine whether the etymology of these words has been correctly determined in these dictionaries and/or interpreted. In that respect, a comparative analysis of the corpus consisting of two monolingual dictionaries was conducted. The analysis determined that in many instances the etymological interpretation is either insufficiently precise and/or imprecise. Such reasons accentuate the need for a stronger inclusion of linguists from the field of foreign languages, in this case, English, in the process of compiling the Bosnian language dictionaries.

Príbuzenská terminológia pre označenie vyšších generácií v západoslovanských a južnoslovanských jazykoch

This paper is discussing kinship terminology of Southern and Western Slavonic languages in generations above ego (+1 and above). Based on secondary literature and dictionaries, a set of possible terms was prepared, that was then checked against national corpora of these languages. As a result, we can determine which terms are in use, which are dominant, and (based on data from earlier periods) even draw possible future development. Several interesting outcomes from the research are summed up at the end of this paper, such as tendency towards acceptance of foreign terminology (or patterns of formation) and tendency towards simplification of certain parts of this terminology. As we found out, languages in question have different attitudes to preserving the Proto-Slavonic terminology and are prone to foreign influences on different levels. Some of them even developed in unexpected ways (f. e. towards analytical lexicology).

Strossmayerova jihoslovanská knihovna

Based on the materials of the period and available information from Prague libraries, the author of the article tries to capture the formation and development of Strossmayer’s South Slavic Library - the Czechoslovak-South Slavic League cultivated mutual Czechoslovak-Yugoslavian relationships in inter-war Czechoslovakia. The focus is on its functioning, goals, and generally on its development - which was not always ideal. It also maps its acquisitions, reading rooms and other activities, and tackles the limits and issues it was facing and which hindered its further development and full functionality. The author also outlines the story of the library before and after the WWII and also how - probably by accident - it served well its original goal: deepening the Czechoslovak-Yugoslavian or Czech-Bosnian relationships.

NÁŘEČÍ - KÁMEN ÚRAZU PŘI PŘEKLADU LITERÁRNÍHO TEXTU

This paper aims to examine a literary text from the translatology and stylistics perspective. When translating fiction, literary studies and stylistics inevitably come into contact. Problems, however, arise when it comes to translating dialect elements. This issue has been extensively studied, but, when it comes to practice, every translator has a freedom to choose a method and justify it. To analyze this phenomenon, short stories by J. Radichkov, a Bulgarian author, and their Czech translations have been chosen. The use of literary dialect in Radichkov’s works differs from the typical conveying of the local atmosphere. In his works, literary dialect itself becomes a stylistic feature that is worth exploring, especially in Czech translation.

Българо-пущунски когнати. Анализ на тяхното значение и произход

The article presents eight words from Pashto language, considered as cognates to words left by Proto-Bulgarians. This conclusion is supported by the fact that Proto-Bulgarians generally have East-Iranian origin, as do the Hephthalites, the ancestors of modern Pashtuns. Six modern Bulgarian words and eleven Old Bulgarian words and semantic roots of unspecified origin are shown as cognate to Pashto words, hence their Proto-Bulgarian origin is suggested. The ancient hydronym Gerdab “iron gate“ for a gorge on Danube river is shown to correspond to the Pashto phrase gird вb “stirred water“ and hence, it could also have Eastern origin. Съпоставителен анализ на фразеологизми с неизменяемо местоимение и глагол в новогръцкия и българския език

This report makes a brief comparison of phraseologisms with unalterable pronoun and verb in Greek and Bulgarian. Pronouns don’t have declinable paradigm, don’t operate on grammatical and lexical level, they are simply a formal marker. Among them the two component’s Greek phraseologisms are the most difficult to locate and interpret because the phrases are very short, must function as free collocations, and in many cases are with opaque motivation.

Depending on the degree of interlinguistic equivalence, the phraseological units with Bulgarian somatism head and Japanese somatism 頭 (atama, kashira; zu, tou) can be divided into: complete (absolute) phraseological equivalents, incomplete (partitive) phraseological equivalents, relative phraseological equivalents, phraseological analogs and formal phraseological equivalents. In view of the fact that the Bulgarian and Japanese languages belong to different language families, complete (absolute) phraseological equivalents can be found very rarely, but we can detect a lot of partitive and relative phraseological equivalents, as well as many formal phraseological equivalents. Since Bulgarian phraseological units with head exceed Japanese phraseological units in number, we detect more phraseological analogues in Bulgarian phraseological units.

The paper presents the results of a new study on the syntactic structures of simple two-component sentences in the works of Yordan Yovkov, Emilian Stanev and Yordan Radichkov. Statistical prognostic methods support the syntactic analysis and enrich it with quantitative data on the makeup of the simple sentence. The observed quantitative characteristics are the scope and depth of the sentence structure, as well as the forms of connection – subordination or coordination. Statistical and syntactic inferences are made that support the study of authors’ individual grammar in an innovative way.

ELEMENTI TRAGIČNOG U USMENIM BAJKAMA

In the literature on oral literature in the South Slavic Yugoslav area, fairy tales are most often described as stories that reflect an optimistic worldview. However, in the long chain of oral literary tradition, there are also oral fairy tales that mirror tragic elements. To gain a comprehensive understanding of the oral fairy tale style, it is of great importance to examine the function of the tragic elements in these stories. The starting assumptions are that the mentioned elements interconnect the world of the fairy tale and influence its interpretation. The paper aims to explore the tragic in oral fairy tales and to determine its function through selected examples recorded in the Bosniak environment. After analysis and interpretation, using the comparative method and methods of text analysis, it is concluded that tragic elements are present in the motives and endings of fairy tales. Tragic motifs lose their tone upon integration into the fairy tale and do not affect the function of the fairy tale, unlike an unhappy ending which disrupts the style of the fairy tale and which enhances the instructiveness of the story. The insights presented in the paper aim to contribute to a deeper understanding of the oral fairy tale style.
