The financial crisis in the United States affects polish economy. Even at the beginning of 2008, the majority of polish economists claimed that minimal trade between Poland and the United States and humble real estate prices in Poland, which are lower than the EU average, ensure economic stability. This has not come to pass, which is confirmed by the situation of companies providing business services that are trying to find themselves in the new economic reality. One solution seems to be the next obvious perception of the risks that result, the benefits that can create. An interesting solution, which is a way to fight the crisis is to build a new business model that offers customers a variety of business services. The ability to provide additional services often gives the company a competitive advantage, and in an addition reduces its vulnerability to cyclical changes. Business Services-ciation is characterized by the fact that the fall in demand for one type of service is often a compensatory sowany the increase in demand for other services.

The study attempts at evaluating the share in the state taxes as a source of income for independent cities in the times of economic crises, from the perspective of desirable characteristics of these cities’ incomes. What results from the analysis is that the income from the share in the state taxes is characterised by neither stability nor certainty. It is flexible and consequently – it decreases in the times of economic downturn. This is proved by numerical data concerning the total income of independent cities and the incomes of the cities of Szczecin and Poznań in 2003−2009 (the first 6 months).

It may be observed that the more widespread access to the Internet on the part of households in a given country is the more important e-commerce in the B2C sphere becomes. Volunteering is today one of the most dynamic phenomena of social life. On the spiritual development of Christian volunteers to a large extent depends not only the effectiveness of their ministry towards their brethren, but also the strength of their missionary influence. Pope Benedict XVI in the encyclical “Deus caritas est” has called volunteers to the „formation of the heart” (DCE 31) and in the motu proprio “Intima Ecclesiae natura” has called diocesan bishops to care for their theological and pastoral formation (Article 7, § 2). What essentially is this “formation of the heart” and what “proposals of spiritual life” should be submitted to the volunteers? One of the pastoral proposals, presented in this article, is to appeal to the model of brotherly love that Jesus Christ has left us. The Church’s charitable activity is an attempt to imitate Christ in His unconditional love for man humiliated in one’s dignity by sin and its consequences, which include, among others: material, existential, psychological and social poverty, but also spiritual misery.

The article focuses on the concept of man as a human person in the diocesan periodicals of the north-eastern region of Poland after 1989. Its fundamental purpose was to give an answer to the question: What press sources can be found for the cognizance of the concept of man as a human person after 1989, can be found in the leading periodicals of the two Church provinces of north-eastern Poland: Bialystok and Warmia? These provinces include the following dioceses: Białystok, Drohiczyn, Elbląg, Ełk, Łomża and Warmia. The main source for the analysis of this issue has been press material from two weekly newspapers: “Głos Katolicki” (“Catholic Voice”) from the years 1993-2009 (about 1000 issues) and “Niedziela Podlaska” (“Sunday of Podlasie”) from the years 1994-2009 (about 950 issues); the biweekly magazine “Posłaniec Warmiński” (“Messenger of Warmia”) from the years 1989-2009 (about 600 issues); three monthly magazines: “Martyria” from the years 1992-2009 (about 250 issues), “Wspólnota” (“Community”) from the years 1992-2002 (about 150 issues) and “Białostocki Biuletyn Kościelny” (“Bialystok Church Bulletin”) and from the later periodicals of the Archdiocese of Białystok: “Czas Miłosierdzia” (“Time of Mercy”) and “W służbie Miłosierdzia” (“In the service of Mercy”) from the years 1993-2009 (about 250 issues). From all of the texts, there emerges a picture of the human person as being something singular, special, unique, the image of God himself. Whereas an image in principle captures the essence of its archetype. Therefore, human existence has no meaning apart from God. That is why one cannot reduce man to the world only. Emphasized is also the fact, that the human being is a physical-spiritual being and thereby is the undisputed subject of values and rights of the human person, even in those periods when physically not able to demonstrate them or to enforce them.

In conclusion it should be noted that the Catholic Church rejects the doctrinal assumptions of the Moon sect, which assumptions significantly distort the truth of the Gospel. The clearly un-Christian nature of the Moon sect also excludes the possibility of ecumenical dialogue. The expansion of the sect and the methods used by it for recruitment and indoctrination demand from the Church a continuous search for new solutions. The phenomenon of sects, among which the Moon sect, is a challenge for the Church and also a special occasion to become ever more an authentic community of faith and love. In this context, it becomes truly urgent to take up the task of the new evangelization ad intra and ad extra, and the exercising of a constant concern for the quality of Christian life in the communities of the Church. This is a task for the whole Church, with particular reference to the great importance and the need to involve the laity in this work. As Pope John Paul II teaches, only a new evangelization can provide a flourishing of a pure and deep faith, ready to give these traditions power leading to true freedom and true love. An important impetus to achieving this goal is the creation by Pope Benedict XVI on June 29, 2010, of the Pontifical Council for Promoting New Evangelization. Confrontation with the Moon sect mobilizes members of the Catholic Church to intensify efforts towards a more readable portrait of the Church for what it is in its deepest essence and to oppose all that can distort and obscure this truth.

Confirmation is referred to as the sacrament of Christian initiation. But it happens that after receiving this sacrament, a certain number of people experience a decrease in religious-life activity and a departure from the Church community. Thus the sacrament of Confirmation is sometimes called the sacrament of parting with the Church. The article contains the results of empirical studies carried out among teenagers living in villages and attending school in Piątnica, that received the sacrament of Confirmation in 2010. Indicated in the text are the elements most effectively influencing their religious life and those that require additional precision.
