Антропология и деконструкция: Сосюр, Дерида и интерпретирането на езиковия знак

The paper presents some of the consequences of the arbitrariness of the linguistic sign - first presented almost a century ago by the Swiss linguist Ferdinand de Saussure (1857-1913). The distinctions that he made are compared to the ones by another very influential figure of the past century, French philosopher Jacques Derrida (1930-2004). It is argued that this notion of the arbitrariness has significant consequences for anthropology and the social and human sciences in general, as it forms a firm foundation for questioning of the dominant narratives. It is also argued that the scholars from the “developing countries” can successfully employ this strategy in getting their voices and their opinions present in the international scholarship.

PORTRET U REČIMA: KSENIJA ATANASIJEVIĆ O HOSEU ORTEGI I GASETU

Ksenija Atanasijević significantly contributed to the introduction of the thoughts of José Ortega y Gasset into the area of the Serbian language. She dedicated one of her late articles, published in 1967, to this philosopher of ratiovitalism. It can be argued that this text of a synthetic character belongs to the genre of philosophical portrait, in which the work and theoretical positions of a certain author are primarily discussed, in addition to the presentation of data from his life, and that the portrayal of a thinker cannot be reduced to his visual-artistic representation. Before focusing on the article in question, a review was made of the history of writing about Ortega and the general reception of his thought in Yugoslavia, as well as the presence of Spanish authors and motifs in the writings of Ksenia Atanasijević. One of the emphasis is placed on disputed claims about the Madridian philosopher, that is, his work.

Problema autenticității literare. Scurt istoric (III)

The crisis of authority, which arose in modernism with the symbolic declaration of the „death” of God, overturns the old theoretical and literary mechanisms. Supreme authority is replaced by supreme freedom, represented by authenticity. The aim of this article is to briefly outline some of the philosophical ideas that have formed, over time, a common vision (or several visions that communicate with each other) of what authenticity means in literature. The focus is on authenticity in the relationship between author and text, which involves the production of the text and the author’s attitude to the process of artistic creation. Excluded here is the subject of authenticity in the reader’s interpretation of the text. Addressed briefly are some of the central ideas on authenticity of three philosophers: Edmund Husserl, Martin Heidegger and Jean-Paul Sartre and the influence of their philosophies on the writers’ attitudes toward the literary text.

Ранносредновековната диалектика и Хегеловата история на философията

The following article investigates the relationship between early medieval Latin authors and their understanding of the study of logic, along with the Hegelian approach towards dialectical logic as a necessary path leading to absolute knowledge. The authors who I am presenting are Augustine, Boethius, Cassiodor, Isidore and Alcuin. The article advances two theses. Firstly, I claim that Hegel’s dialectical logic is a result of the attempt to reconcile critical philosophy with pre-critical metaphysics by overcoming their essential weaknesses. For this reason scholasticism plays a pivotal role in his own system, although not quite explicitly. My second claim is that a thorough analysis of early medieval logic could question Hegel’s generally negative assessment of medieval philosophy. He barely gives any coherent account on early medieval philosophy besides making a few general remarks and claiming that John Scot Eriugena who lived in the 9th century was the first true medieval philosopher.However, the early medieval tradition played an important role for the formation of curricula in the later centuries, respectively in the 11th, 12th and the 13th centuries. Augustine, Boethius, Cassiodor, Isidore and Alcuin all in their own lifetime produced some of the most important texts that shaped medieval philosophy, even after Aristotle’s corpus was rediscovered in the West in the 1150s. These authors also contribute to Hegel’s own notion of dialectics. Their works allow us to draw the conclusion that logic is not merely an instrument used by all the other philosophical disciplines. In its own right, logic or dialectics, as they call it, is a philosophical discipline– such that encompasses all other philosophical disciplines and enables their classification and systematization.

A new edition and translation of Manuel II Palaeologus’ Epistle to Andreas Asanes on Dreams: On the Fringes of the Late Byzantine Reception of Aristotle’s De Divinatione per Somnum

Manuel II Palaeologus, in his Epistle to Andreas Asanes (probably written in the last decade of the 14th c.) argues against the popular as well as certain Neoplatonists’ (such as Synesius of Cyrene’s) belief in ordinary dreams as means for predicting future events. Mainly based on Thomas Aquinas’ IIa IIae and Anastasius of Sinai’s Quaestiones et Responsiones, Manuel argues that there are three kinds of dreams: (i)those caused by the physical state of one’s body and one’s everyday life activities; their predictive value is zero; (ii) dreams that emerge by the soul’s nature itself; due to the postlapsarian human condition, which includes an uneasy body-soul relation, their predictive value eventually borders on zero; (iii) dreams sent by God, all of which do predict the future. Manuel’s discussion of (ii) is important, because it complies with Theodore Metochites’ and George Scholarios’ view that Aristotle is right in refusing to consider dreams as means for predicting future events and goes against George Pachymeres’ overtly anti-Aristotelian defense of the high gnoseological potential of the human soul even in the postlapsarian state.

Simeon Mladenov’s book “The Will to Think” is a serious and in-depth original study investigating the relationship between the will power and intellect in several medieval representatives of Franciscan tradition. Such a topic offers plenty of opportunities for research in a still undeveloped field in Bulgarian medieval studies. The kind of the study itself is not comparative-historical, but rather essentially analytic based on a thorough knowledge of the source literature, as evidenced by the numerous notes with reference to authentic works in Latin. The book is grounded on the author’s doctoral thesis (Die Rolle des Willens in der Entwicklung der Erkenntnistheoriein der hochmittelalterlichen franziskanischen Philosophie), defended at the beginning of 2021 at Thomas Institute in the University of Cologne, Germany. Simeon Mladenov’s doctoral study there was supervised by Professor Andreas Speer, one of the most significant names among the researchers of medieval Western European theology and philosophy.

Heroikus küzdelem és monumentalitás – párhuzamok Beethoven és Hegel életművében

In my paper, I reflect on the parallelisms in the life-works of the giants of philosophy and music history, Beethoven and Hegel. The life-works of the philosopher and composer arose in different spheres of culture, and they have completely different media of distribution. The idea of this study was inspired by the fact that both were members of the same generation (Hegel lived between 1770-1831, and Beethoven between 1770-1827), they lived in the Age of Enlightenment and the birth of Romanticism, thus the spirit of the age made a similar impression on them. In my study, Ideal with three questions: the idea of freedom and love from Beethoven’s and Hegel’s point of view; the main features of Hegel’s notion of art from the Phenomenology to the Aesthetics; and Beethoven’s music as “music beyond music”.

MARKSISTIČKA KRITIKA STUDIJE SLOBODANA JOVANOVIĆA O MARKSU. PRAKSA I DIJALEKTIKA

Slobodan Jovanovic’s study on Marx (1935) has been interpreted and evaluated in every history of Serbian philosophy written after the Second World War (1968, 1972, 2002, 2009). This paper discusses Marxist responses to this study and the influence its evaluations had on the post-war reception and critique of Jovanović’s writings. The treatise on Marx, which came as a result of years of studying and keeping close track of the evolution of Marxism, Socialist thought and the labour movement, may also be seen as a problemoriented history of Marxism. Jovanović suggests that essential to understanding Marx’s teaching is its philosophical contents because Marx’s findings in other areas were based on his philosophical insights. The paper also tackles the issue of interwar and post-war interpretations of the concept of praxis. Unlike his critics, what Jovanović understands by Marxism is not dialectical materialism. The paper shows that Marxist critiques of Jovanović’s study substantially influenced the philosophical reception of that work in the post-war period.

SVEDOČANSTVA O NAJRANIJOJ GRČKOJ FILOZOFIJI

By all accounts all the works of early Greek philosophers were lost forever. Everything we know about their teachings we owe testimonies which have been preserved in the writings of later thinkers. Today it is not possible to seriously consider the earliest Greek philosophy without consulting studies dealing with testimonies about that philosophy. We will here devote our attention to these testimonies, to their importance, to their classification, history of their researches, as well as state of the research in our time. When it comes to classification of genres of testimonies, we will illustrate the most striking representatives of each of them. Central role in the history of this research played a Hermann Diels. We will highlight the importance and achievements of his research, to say something about his predecessors and successors, as well as today's scrutiny of its grandiose works Doxographi Graeci and Die Fragmente der Vorsokratiker.

Prirodzenosť a norma: komparácia prístupov Tomáša Akvinského a Philippy Footovej

The article deals with the problem of human nature as a source of moral normativity in the work of Thomas Aquinas and Philippa Foot. We will focus on the understanding of human nature in both authors and distinguish between its two meanings. In a broader sense, human nature represents a entity whose content are basic natural inclinations and needs of a biological and psychological nature, which play a key role in the teleology of human life. In fulfilling these inclinations and needs, the individual achieves natural resources that form the metaframework of practical reasoning. Human nature in its proper meaning is identical to the practical rationality of an actor who judges the fulfillment of natural needs, arranges them and resolves conflicts between them, thus becoming his proper source of moral normativity.

Ein Blitzlicht: Das Echo auf Martin Heideggers Antrittsvorlesung „Was ist Metaphysik?“, Freiburg 1930 bei Ida Friederike Coudenhove (1901 – 1971)

The notes are enthusiastic and at the same time critical of the Freiburg faculty, who attended somewhat “affected”. This is the first time that these notes have been published from the original text and commented on and it is rather a philosophical-historical contribution.

HAJDEGEROVA KRITIKA HUSERLOVE FENOMENOLOŠKE REDUKCIJE

Die Grundfrage seiner Philosophie, die Frage nach dem Sinn von Sein, stellt Heidegger in einer kritischen Ablehnung sowohl von der traditionellen, antischen und modernen als auch von der gegenwärtigen Philosophie. Heideggers Kritik von Husserls Konzeption der phänomenologischen Reduktion auf dem Leitfaden der Seinsfrage bezeichnet zugleich die Formulation Heideggers eigenen philosophischen Programms der Gewinnung der Frage nach dem Sinn von Sein überhaupt. Im Text wird zuerst die Frage nach dem Sinn von Sein in Heideggers Philosophie behandelt (I), dann folgt die Erörterung von Heideggers Kritik von Husserls Begriff der Phänomenologie und der phänomenologischen Reduktion aus der Vorlesungen Prolegomena zur Geschichte des Zeitbegiffs (1925) (II) und am Ende wird Heideggers Deutung des Verhältnisses von der Intentionalität und der Transzendenz aus der Vorlesungen Die Grundprobleme der Phänomenologie (1927) und Die metphysische Anfangsgründe der Logik im Ausgang von Leibniz (1928) erläutert.

INTELIGIBILNOST SVAKIDAŠNJEGA: DODIRNE TAČKE RANOGA HAJDEGERA I POZNOGA HUSERLA

In diesem Aufsatz werden wir versuchen die Beziehungen zwischen der husserlschen Krisis der europäischen Wissenschaften und des frühen Heidegger zu untersuchen – und zwar anhand der Lebenswelt, genauer der Intelligibilität des Faktischen, der Auffassung von Doxa und der Philosophiegeschichte. Die Grundannahme lautet dass Husserl – sei es mittelbar, sei unmittelbar – eine kräftige Einflussnahme von seinem Schüler erfahren musste, vorwiegend aus seiner Frühphase, und dies im Moment als Heidegger selbst seine frühe Überzeugungen größtenteils einer Wiederprüfung unterzogen hatte. Dennoch, trotz den auffallenden Ähnlichkeiten zwischen beiden Denkern bleibt ein wesentlicher Unter- schied bestehen, der sich daraus besteht, die Intelligibilität der Lebenswelt bis zur transzen- dentalen Begründung zu überführen, während bei Heidegger die Intelligibilität des Anfangs eine endliche, kontingente und nur einigermassen durchsichtige sei.

ARISTOTEL: NUŽNOST, KONTINGENTNOST, SLOBODA

In this article the author attempts to present Aristotle’s argumentation against the universal fatalism, wich is, in the view of fatalists, a necessary consequence of the universal application of the principle of bivalence to the contradictory propositions about the future state of affairs. This problem Aristotle examines in his De Interpretatione ch. 9, wich is the main issue here. Presentation flows trough three steps: 1. Aristotle’s formulation of the problem, 2. Aristotle’s presentation and criticism of the logical determinism and, finally, 3. Aristotle’s libertarian solution of the problem. Author points out that through the history of interpretation of the problem there are different views. These views differ not only concerning the spirit of Aristotle’s text or his final solution, but concerning the way in which he refuted the universal validity of the logical determinism and fatalism.
