- Summary/Abstract:Legal regulation of tourism is rather a complicated issue. Legislation governing tourism in the Czech Republic is undergoing many changes in recent years. The aim of this paper is to analyze the legislation and compare it with European laws. The new Czech Civil Code came into effect on 1st January 2014. The most important provisions in the Civil Code applicable to tourism are those regulating a package tour contract and timeshare. There is a special law within the Czech legal system, Act No. 159/1999 Sb., governing some conditions for business activities in tourism. This legal regulation stems from the European Union Directive 90/314/EEC. The interpretation of the new Czech Civil Code has not been stabilized. Act No. 159/1999 Sb., governing some conditions for business activities in tourism, has not been sufficiently amended. There has been permanent discussion about insurance to be taken out by travel agencies, and also about tourist guides. However, Czech legislation must respect European law which is now subject to fundamental transformation in the field of tourism. It is assumed that the key Directive 90/314/EEC would be replaced this year.

This means that tourism stakeholders are involved in the process of managing (decision-making process and controlling). The key aspect of the concept is network, precisely cooperation – interaction between private and public sector, and necessary coordination. The paper verifies the knowledge of the concept of tourism destination governance (e.g. Beritelli, Bieger & Laesser, 2007) on the case study of Rennes destination management organization, and moreover presents suggestions dealing with the conditions in the Czech Republic.

- Summary/Abstract:Countries with developed tourism (Switzerland, Austria, Germany) have legally regulated systems of tourism management, usually at the regional level (cantons, states). This institutional arrangement for the management of tourism contributes to tourism becoming an increasingly important factor for regional and local development. The tourism development has contributed to the development of three Austrian municipalities, Serfaus, Fiss and Ladis. In 1960 it was registered in these municipalities 1,289 beds in accommodation establishments, and in 2015 it is 14,505 beds. Tourism destination focuses on German families with children. The rapid development contributed to the construction of cableways, which are majorityowned by municipalities. Destination marketing activities are primarily financed by the selection of local fee for spa stay and focus on promoting two-seasonal destination.

- Summary/Abstract:Tourism is recognized as a useful alternative to traditional industries that are in decline. Heritage tourism (these days often called cultural heritage tourism) is a fast growing industry. The National Trust for Historic Preservation (USA), citing a study of the American Association of Tourism Industry from 2003 states that US participants in cultural heritage tourism remain longer in tourist destinations and spend more money than other segments of visitors. They have more respect for the places they visit and are less likely to have a negative impact on the cultural and historical resources. Cultural heritage tourism is a powerful tool for bringing together preservation of cultural values and economic development. Cultural heritage tourism contributes to economy development by generating income, creating new jobs and business opportunities for small businesses. Responsible cultural heritage tourism stimulates the revitalization of cultural heritage and helps to create resources for competitive development. Development strategies of cultural heritage tourism are in recent years used by local government as economic development strategies of the cities, towns and tourist destinations for tourism development and to increase the efficiency of utilization of local resources. But local government often sees cultural heritage more as a burden on public budgets than an opportunity to develop. Likewise, cultural heritage tourism is rather understood in terms of negative effects on the socio-economic environment. The article discusses theoretical approaches and their possible application to selected tourist destinations in the Czech Republic.

- Summary/Abstract:The beginning of the 21st century brings with it an ever-accelerating development both in tourism and in the activities and instruments of marketing management of destinations. Logically the development of marketing communication, its tools and technologies don’t stay far behind. Destination management clients are not only satisfied visitors and tourists, but many other stakeholders, more or less influencing the success of destination management and competitiveness of a tourism destination. With whom and how in the changing conditions destination managements should communicate, what tools they would use, how to ensure required effectiveness and efficiency of marketing communication in relation to maintaining and developing market position and competitiveness of the destination? These are the questions facing most destination managements, often without having a sufficient basis for its decisions. The ambition of this paper is based on an analysis of selected secondary data, conducted investigations and years of personal experience from both the tourism sector, and from marketing and marketing communication, to find at least some of the answers to those questions.
