Shortly after Romania’s entry into the war on the part of the Entente Powers, the Austrian-German troops imposed the Romanian armed forces to with draw. Towards the end of 1916, after heavy fighting, the Central Powers’ divisions were stopped on the alignment of the Eastern Carpathians, Putna, Lower Siret and Lower Danube. As a result, the Oriental front line extended south ward over 500 km to the Black Sea. Along with the Romanian soldiers, two Russian allied armies with drew into Romania as soon as the Romanian army units started fighting. Within Romania’s alliance with the Russian Empire, the Romanian-Russian relations did not rely on loyalty. The Russians’ in coherence was also manifested by the hostile behaviour of Russian soldiers towards the Romanian soldiers, the population and the civil authorities of Romania. In the first part of this documentary, we presented documents about “outgoing and incoming travellers” during the year of 1916 (at the end of 1916, according to sources, more than 30,000 Romanians would have fled to Russia), the relations between the Russian Army Commands and the Romanian civil and military authorities, the organization of the Counter-Espionage Service, the situation of military personnel transit (sanitary trains, infantry regiment sand cavalry) through the Burdujeni border point etc. The documents presented in the second part of this document refer to the organization of the Romanian and Russian Security Services in the area of the Romanian front, the fighting on the Dorna front, the activity of the socialist leaders (the celebration of the 1st of May 1917 in Iași, the appeal of the Social-Democratic Party in Romania). Also, the documents presented refer to the offences committed by Russian soldiers on Romanian territory, demonstrating the malevolent attitude of these allies, an attitude that influenced the state of mind of the Romanian army.
